Starting from the date indicated, we draw that week’s character and post it up in this thread. This way, each character gets his/her own week to shine. The aim is for us to try to draw everyone (schedule permitting).
But come to think of it, I haven’t drawn anything MK related since the 3rd grade! Its crazy growing up thinking that GAMEPRO art back in the day seemed inspired at the time. It would be a challenge to add some life to those characters since they’re a little on the generic side. But its not a bad idea, so I say we do it!
Its a little old now in the deviantart world, but it’d be fun to see what we can come up with. Kinda like a reformed “Let’s draw each other” type thread but infused with SF. We can draw our own profiles or draw interpretations of what other SRK members might look like in an SF game. Possibilities are endless.
Also had one more idea for a CYPHER like thread, with one person starting a drawing between two characters and other members picking up the story with another scene. Or maybe have one person draw something and it ends up being this huge pinup with a whole bunch of artists involved. But that might be a little complicated and the output would probably be pretty low considering what it is now. We’d probably never get past the first scene or sketch done, maybe for another time.
I’d definitely rather do MVC3 than MK9 buuuut that’s just me… I was really hoping one of these would get started soon! So whatever’s decided, I’ll participate in.
I like both the ideas, Chowz… The first seems really unique, and I’ve seen a few attempts at the second one… It’s always pretty fun!
I’m really liking rook’s version of Scorpion, partly because of the fact that his colors aren’t so flashy bright. It’s always been a pet peeve of mine to see a Japanese ninja wearing such a brightly colored costume.
I’m digging BrokenFish’s too though, for the opposite reason. lol
I think Im only going to do the original MK characters, and as I said before, I’m going to do redesigns of them. Heres my Scorpion, I wanted him to look like a rural Chinese Darkman lol. I imagined him as a farmer, whose family was killed and crops and house burned in an attack by the Lin Kuei, in which he was also badly burned. He then pledged revenge and uses his farming sickle as a makeshift kusarigama to hunt them down, coming ever closer to finding the one that ordered the attack.
