This just inspired me to get into MK all of a sudden. In reference to what Aku said earlier about scorpion being a yellow ninja, who knew a simple hoodie attached and some slightly muted colors could make him even more menacing. The way you add the mysteriousness to his character and little hints about his true form is perfect. I’ve always pictured scorpion more as a skull underneath the ninja mask and you put that out there nicely by keeping it hidden in shadow. But chinese Darkman is an even better idea! The hook makes more sense as a weapon too. Also love the use of color and the tearing of his old outfit (maybe adding streetfighter touch with the sleeves too). It seems more of a natural progression than getting his armor even more stylized throughout the years. Its touches like that the add even more personality to the character other than adding more chainmail and scales to the suit. A fresh and iconic take on the character, while still keeping the original ingredients from what we remember. A job well done sir! Painting is top notch too!
Loving everybody’s work so far! I’ve had a couple of ideas but they don’t seem to be translating well. Definitely a challenge.
Rook, great way to start it off. BrokenFish, loving the Mignola-ness and traditional coloring Neoblood, I don’t know where you came from but i’m scared. Looking forward to more of those renditions! Also can’t believe you thought of an origin to go along in designing him. Thats some kind of brainstorming you got there.
I was originally going to skip the first two challenges because my tablet is broken and I’m waiting for my new one to arrive, but my drawing finger has been itching up to the point where I just HAD to draw something. So I drew this with a mouse. I want my tablet, I feel pantsless without it. ;(

If anything I think I may have made the legs too long. I wanted to give him the appearance of having a short stature, not these 7 foot super hero sized people they’ve all become over the years. 2 reasons I wanted to make him short, 1, he’s chinese, and typically they arent very tall. 2, theres sort of a correlation to his name. Smaller scorpions are the more deadly ones.
I like it. I personally find it better than her actual new design, which makes absolutely no sense in a lot of levels. lol

CHOWZ: The rough style and coloring choice reminds me of MvC2. Turned out great!
psylin: I like the choice of color, magenta seems to fit him well. And I’m with you on the man-practice bit. I’ve been drawing girls for so long, it’s rough. haha
Psilyn: very nice use of shadow + selective highlights to really draw our eyes to the parts of the drawing you wanted us to focus on.
Lexy: Cool Sindel. I prefer that costume to her current one too.
IMHO Sindel’s costume shows too much skin for a queen. Perhaps it works within the MK aesthetic, but it doesn’t work for me
Anyway, here’s my take on Sindel.
Rook, YOUR SINDEL IS AMAZING! everything about it from the hair, hands and outfit. The overall pose just gives it this epic feel and really brings out the authority in her character. A scary and perfect rendition if there ever were one.
