Your one of the testers? Anyone else you’d like to tell me about?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was told the issue was that Microsoft was throwing up obstacles, not that it had anything to do with the end cinematic.
The demo is cool,it’s a “warm up” to me. Give me a general idea of what the game is like. I have been playing with Mileena mainly, used to use her in the other MK games and I plan on using some other characters when it’s released.
No I am not a tester. I cant take credit that isnt do to me haha. I do know the people who tested it and I do know the person who tested it the longest out of the group. The game is not the same. Which is a good thing…
No Xbox demo makes me sad, I’m so hyped and have no way to play.
dont worry xbros. there will be a demo after the game is released!
Anyone know what sub zero’s back + front punch move does?
i think it is called ice claws in the moves list.
I see him blink a blue color when the move is fully charged. is it an unblockable? does it make a longer guard crush animation when the opponent blocks it? i am stumped on its application. dunno whether to use it as a poke or simply just put it into combos?
i know when the new game gets released this move’s properties will change but i was wondering what everyone else is using it for.
R.I.P. Rep infinites.
I welcome a new game tho.
i finally got to play some real people for a few hours today
the game is definitely fun, but my initial impression of the overall fighting engine is kind of “meh”
- the game is clearly based on MKvsDC (aka 3D gameplay restrictioned to 2D), which may not be entirely OK
- normal moves are pretty slow with a weird combination of lots of recovery or startup. that floatiness and pause of neutral jump punch is so annoying
- the hitboxes are sometimes pretty weird and unclear
- the ground game/blockstrings seems to be based around target combos, that you can wiff in full sequence… kind of weird
- dashes look floaty and are pretty short, i don’t feel like they help in speeding the pace of the game very well
having never really played 3D MKs after MK4 (which was decent in my book), now i was expecting some of that fast paced and super responsive UMK3. well, MK9 is really fun with great graphics, i just need to adjust to this feeling of clunkiness that i get…
will buy the full version for sure for the sheer amount of content it will have. also a lot of people will pick up this game around me… it’s pretty accessible and fun.
What makes you say that it feels like a 3D game? I was only able to play the demo for a short while, but it certainly felt like a 2D fighter to me. Just curious.
From what I was told about the build which was played was the game is going to be ehh. A few things keep the game from being “up to standards” (mind the quotes there please)
You cant pick how you tech roll. Can only wake up move, stay down for 2 more seconds, or roll back. Should be a quick get up and a roll left or right
Hit stun and block stun is going to be an issue. Be ready for free jump ins and 50/50 galore on hit stun. Block stun seems to last a bit to long also
Moves and projectiles seem a little safe which interrupting the flow of the game.
No i have not played the final build again. I only played the demo for a million hours haha but this info is about a build which may not be final. All i know is it is the most up to date build that was playable NOT at a convention.
Just out of curiosity, who told you that and how old was the build?
Not to be aggressive or anything, but it’s easy to say somebody told you something.
Thats Joe mayne he wound’t toss around bull.
Plus Im sure revealing a name may get the tester in trouble.
so you probably won;t get one.
K, fair enough, just wondering.
Thanks for the back up flashy nights. I dont post much on srk at all. Check my post count haha. I wouldn’t go spreading lies to shit talk this game or try and make myself look important. This was the first game I played which I had a serious drive for. I was… 7? I think? I wouldn’t disrespect this game or its community. Anyway, Ill say this again, what I was told was from a build with the whole cast but I assume it wasn’t final build. Other wise they wouldn’t need to test it right? Stuff could be changed.
I just noticed everyone speculating on stuff so I wanted to share a small bit of knowledge to kind of give you an idea what we are being delivered. Boon and his homies don’t have the best track record when it comes to making good games. I for one hope this changes in april.
Build was from about a month ago.
optimism from iloveu’s information:
if the person who was testing the game a month ago was able to figure out and relay these problems in the limited time they had with the game, that means said person almost certainly gave this information to the dev team, and they’ve had a month to tweak.
blockstun and hitstun numbers are probably (i am guessing) very easy to tweak.
Thanks for the info, appreciate it! Hopefully they catch that stuff before release.
Fingers crossed they’re serious about the patch support based on feedback from pros.
It’s gonna end up as feedback from the loud casual majority
I wouldn’t necessarily assume that; remember, they flew out progamers to test it thoroughly so they seem fairly dedicated to actually getting high-level feedback.
Capcom does the same shit, they have high level players test their shit out. It’s just that in the end, the casual fanbase is so much larger, and thus is alot louder.
