I neeed to get a better connection though. what internet connections do people have in the Milwaukee area? I have att and my downspeed is a little over 1mb. such ass. and my ping to germantown which isnt even 10 miles away from me is like 50ms. apparently u verse and fios isnt available in my area and my house has problems with a roadrunner cable so im not sure what to do.
I have roadrunner and my speeds are 16/1/23 (down/up/ping). I’m not sure what other options exist besides Att and RoadRunner though.
I wish we had fios available here. Somebody was saying something about google may have something comparable soon in the Midwest.

these are my results from that speedtest.net site. I’m using wi-fi too as the cable box is downstairs. took me a long time to optimize my router settings but I think i finally have them pretty good. This is from the germantown location. We have time warner, and it’s been pretty good since I figured out how to setup the wireless router correctly. I don’t think anyone in the milwaukee area will be able to serve up better speeds than this at the price outside of crazy business-level setups. I don’t think we have the best time warner subscription either, like the highest cost one.

AT&T fails as usual. We had them for like a year and they were awful, both for speeds, reliability, and randomly jacking up the price.
The only internet I’ve used in Milwaukee that was faster was in the dorms at MSOE when I used to live there. I’m pretty sure it was from Time Warner (probably a business package). Time Warner is probably the best choice currently in terms of speed and reliability.
Good stuff. Last time I took my connection through a test (Time Warner), it came out at 25MB down, 1MB up. It’s supposed to be more like 15MB down, but I’m not complaining.
And yeah, it’s not their best subscription level.

Don’t get your hopes up for good fiber anytime soon. The cable companies/telecoms just don’t care as long as they keep getting your money, and the government isn’t doing enough to encourage it. Then again, even when we give them billions of taxpayer money to upgrade lines, they take it and run regardless.
