@llnd
great use of flaming grenades. i will be borrowing your setup to create 2 pools. if that can be done continuously then some characters can’t get past that at all.
Whats up guys i really have some troubles with wolverine i mean that shit can pass everything that you do even my assist (dante) so i left some videos so you can tell me what can i do to improbe that stupid berserker slash in general hes a very agressive logan so a really have some trobles at least with chris
i finally have videos for you guys! it’s from a local tournament and i did lose in the grand finals to a friend i always train with. i did some things that hasn’t been seen with chris on video yet. i only do relaunch combos if i start from my corner to bring the opponent to their corner. i messed up and did not change my snapback mixups on wolverine in the grand finals until it was too late and i think that was what cost me the tournament. if you have any suggestions beside better execution to help me improve my game please let me know.
i have some corner roll recovery mixups that i didn’t do and i also have some ambiguous throw or meaty jumping normal into combo resets that i didn’t do. hopefully my next videos will show some of chris’s other highly damaging tricks.
Nice gameplay overall. Almost persuades me to run Haggar with my Chris as well.
Try to simplify some of your combos to take advantage of Happy Birthday moments (where you catch the opponent’s point character+ assist character in a combo). Problem with the OTG gunshots is that they only target one character. Modify your main combos to juggle both characters, it doesn’t even need to be fancy.
Speaking of combos, you have a lot of varied ones that are really cool. However, they seem to be fairly spacing dependent and difficult. My BnB combo with Chris is c.M, H, f.H, S - s.j. - MMHS, otg machine gun, s.H, S - s.j. - MMHS, otg gunshot + spencer grapple arm -> grenade launcher super, S+sent drones, S, otg machine gun, flamethrower, sweep combo. Simple, and not spacing dependent, plus easy to do. Props on harder combos, but I felt like you could’ve won if you didn’t drop some of them.
Also, if you can kill a character, especially if it’s Wesker, Dante, or Wolverine, just kill it rather than snapping another character. They are all going to be a problem anyways. I’d say just snap in a character if you know if it’s critical to do so (such as Phoenix, Haggar, or Tron). There was one time in the GF where you snapped out wesker when you could’ve killed him and the wolverine you snapped in bit you hard.
Bebop was also pretty stingy with his x-factor usage. I felt he could’ve ended some matches if he’d actually use a lvl 2 x-factor. You might have been a bit lucky on this regard.
Fire grenades help a lot against characters like Wesker. Granted, you don’t want to be spamming them, but try to have one out on the field whenever, it really disrupts wesker’s movement options.
Don’t mean to be critical, you are a joy to watch. I’d just thought I’d point a few things out.
If I catch two characters with Chris in a combo, I usually go for the air MMHS > land > Jump Magnum > f.H > H boulder Punch > Lvl 3. Works anywhere and simple to execute.
@GcYoshi13
the guy i fought in grand finals is actually my training partner. for the most part i do really well against him and his team. i only have a hard time against lvl 3 xfactored wolverine, that was why i kept snapping him out. that is also why my opponent was saving xfactor for wolverine. i generally only use snapbacks to bring in comeback characters that are hard to deal with when they are xfactored and for now it’s just really wolverine and phoenix that i can’t handle. but since i figured out how to block left and right at the same time they’re a lot easier for me.
i think my combos are actually really basic. i only do the relaunches when i have my back against the corner. anywhere outside of the corner i just don’t do the relaunch. if you pay close attention to my combos you’ll see that when successful they all end in the corner no matter where they start. it’s actually the key reason why i have akuma’s assist on my team.
i had a couple of mental lapses just because i was in the finals. i usually take better advantage of happy birthday’s and don’t drop combos as much as i did but all i really need is more experience in tournaments to remedy that.
@rushx5
that is also the combo i use in that situation. i think this is the only point and assist punishing combo chris has alone and it requires meter awareness.
well thanks for the feedback guys i’ll continue to improve my chris and will try to provide more videos.
I read earlier in this thread that Disruptor out-zones Chris 1v1. Errr…
Does anyone remember Chris can go prone? Seriously, if the opponent starts to projectile spam you, just hit prone and poke them with your pistol until they stop. If they close in on you before you can safely get up, you’ve still got your assists to open them up to a combo. Haggar’s Double Lariat does wonders for this little trick. I’m going to go back to Chris(b)/Haggar(a)/Dante(a).
Magneto has assists too. And there is no way that any Magneto player worth his salt is just going to waltz right in to Haggar’s assist.A good player will just bait it out, and wait for it to finish. Now you have Magneto right on top of you.
Even if the Magneto player doesn’t do that. He can just go into the air and use projectile that goes down forward which forces Chris to exit the prone state so he can block it.In this scenario, Chris is being outzoned.
Not to mention once Haggar is out, all mag has to do is draw some distance and Magnetic Shockwave. None of Chris’s projectile pass through it (It even negates the vertical grenade in Chris’s Super). Unless you have level 3 it’s a big risk to call Haggar out against Mag.
magnetic shockwave is very unsafe especially against chris. chris can block it and punish it with a 477k magnum combo for over half his health or magnum, jumping magnum, magnum into level 3 to %100 kill magneto.
There’s about 30 minutes of my team, Chris/Haggar/Dorm, playing casuals before the Break tournament. Any comments would be appreciated. It starts around 29:30.
just some stuff off the top of my head after the first viewing:
great use of the haggar assist. when using his assist it’s really important to be aware of his health and let him recover his red health by playing keepaway more. if you have the meter to spare then you can include landmine canceled into grenade launcher super as another arsenal in your keepaway.
you have a great combo to followup after lariat hits but you dropped it a lot. all i can say is practice the otg machinegun combo at full screen, midscreen, and corner as much as you can until you can perfect it. for example you did a lot of jumping M when you meant for a jumping machinegun. in that case you can also combo off of lariat with the opponent juggling using jumping M, H, S land S air combo.
learn the standing magnum, dash forward jump late magnum, standing magnum combo. you had a lot of missed opportunities where you could follow up your standing magnum with a dash forward jump magnum. generally do all of your normal jumping gunfire moves as late as possible.
end haggars air combos with S and not the air swing move solely because you can follow it up with a super and from there you can dhc into another character. i never use the air swing move.
try not to bring in dormmamu if all 3 characters are still alive since he’s the best anchor on your team and the only one that can really make a comeback against 3 characters.
i also thought you superjumped way too much but i can’t really elaborate on why right now maybe another time. that’s all i have for now i hope this helps.
Just outta curiosity why is tenshi such a whiner? I’ve never heard anyone complain about every aspect of a single video game like that guy does, I mean complaining bout spencer? Really bro? Really? Nice gameplay though, you’ve pretty much convinced me that I’ve been playing chris wrong these past 7 months, I shouldn’t be standing full screen spamming machine guns.
I was wondering who that was. Great stuff man, I enjoyed it, really great followups whenever lariat hits. I wish I could go to the break more often, but it’s good seeing Chris get some rep out there.
How did you do in the actual tourny?
