I honestly went into this tournament hoping to do some heavy Chris shit but I just couldn’t get that many openings. Notice how on the character select screen Chris is on point…but the moment I see that my opponent’s point character is someone with good rushdown or teleporting (ex. Wesker, Wolverine) I just hold assist and start Ammy instead. I was playing so much keepaway with Chris that I landed a lot of max-range Crouching B’s but I didn’t combo because I thought they wouldn’t hit. However I do like the Chris vs Sentinel match-up.
Anyway, I just don’t like a lot of match-ups with Chris and it bugs the shit outta me. I feel like I’ve hit a wall with him. He’s still my favorite character but Ammy is just so much better against a lot of the more pressure-based characters. And that gunfire assist? That’s good shit.

Winback sure can make a comeback looks hella flashy. That grand finals match was great too. Regarding chirs, I like how you killed that sentinel with the manly boulder punch combo.

Winback trust in Chris man, i have! And he is my point in most of the matches, but yea u have a point in switch characters in one of Chris’s bad match up.

Sup guys, fairly new around here but I have run into a few of you online, mainly GcYoshi and some others. Anywho I’ve been running Wesker Spencer Chris which works pretty well, I got some footage from the Fight for Relief tourney on the Norcal side which starts around 1:55:00.

Two rounds, not too much Chris action besides the end of the first round, but Chris is my favorite and I wanna level up my game with him. I missed the Spencer bionic maneuvers super after the wesker otg for the DHC trick tho but still won the match with Chris. Also screwed up the boulder punch to lvl.3 but still landed it anyway lol. The match finishes on the second part of the stream but not too much to see there. Any feedback would be appreciated :tup:

I just recently placed 4th at a tournament called Atlanta Revival using Chris/Haggar/Doom. Hopefully this footage will be of some use to someone who wants to improve their play.
I don't think it is shown in the video, but Chris Redfield with Doom plasma beam assist works very well together because you can call the Doom assist to extend Chris Redfield's Bread and Butter after the otg shot and then finish the combo with standing magnum. (you can then combo standing magnum into his level 3 if you have the meter)
Having Doom as an assist also leads to better corner mixup options for Chris if you call the assist simultaneously with 2C (otg shot) to finish your combo. Having strong options in the corner is necessary with Chris in my opinion because you can put your opponent in the corner with 1 combo from nearly anywhere on the screen, where you can then apply these tactics. You don’t use assists much with Chris out. Is there a particular reason you don’t use She-Hulk’s low assist? You could use that once in a while to set-up an unblockable for Chris.
Great matches! I use Spencer, Chris and Task, and I noticed you sometimes missed the Bionic Arm, cancel into X-factor, follow up air combo. I used to do the same thing and I missed it all the time. I recently switched to catching the falling characters with L, M, H, S and I land it a lot more regularly. Your mileage may vary, of course…
I use she-hulk’s somersault as a cross over counter to tag in. I still forget to use it though lol. Other than that, I don’t think Chris would be very good for setting up unblockables with her low-assist because he’s not fast enough to hit high.
Updated, thanks for all the gameplay seany_boy, as for input, at the moment only thing I can say is your chris doesn’t use any landmines at all, mind if I ask why? I generally try to always have one out since even if your opponent knows, it makes them apprehensive in my experience.
For landmines, I know they are good in some situations but I honestly forget. For the most part when I play Chris I am either trying to land a throw, cr. M, or deal some chip damage/zoning. I think in most cases where one might think that I should use a mine I probably go for throws. In my experience so far the mines work really well against dive kick characters. On the other hand though they have been inconsistent for me. I’ve tried several times to use a mine to stop Tron’s airdash C approach and it didn’t work out for me at all, I end up getting hit and losing a full health character. I think it is that inconsistency with the mines that keeps me from using them more, though as I play more matches I try to remember to use them.

Mines can also help your zoning game especially when the opponent gets tagged by a huge combo off a landmine and afterwards starts to back off when they see you put one out, allowing you to start your own offense or stay back and gunfire M or spam jumping shotgun.
I’m surprised no one’s posted LLND’s matches from WNFs a few weeks ago. He did REALLY well with Chris on point sending Combofiend and AndyOCR to losers and also landing some impressive combos. Landmines were a huge factor in his gameplay
