Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

Kanye shrug I guess? I saw the topic shift to NES MM collection and just wanted to throw my 00.02 in. I love the NES MM games, but having played the MM NES OG Xbox collection to death which was far superior to this “legacy” collection, I have no interest in more, especially after MM9 and 10. Now a new X or more modern twist on MM and I’m all for that, which is why I’m still interested in MN9, I think it will roughly deliver on expectations after all is said and done, though I could be wrong lol.

FYI there’s nothing between him and I, he just gets triggered quite easily all you have to do is say Inafune, Tameem, or Capcom is better than garbage. I have no animosity toward him at all don’t really care one way or the other.

Yea that’s fine, it’s just funny how often stuff is called over rated. It’s almost to the point where if you know it exists that means it’s over rated.

Battle Network, though?

I played 1-4.

3 was the apex of that series, and 4 just ruined any desire to play anything past it. I have a working ds emulator, I could play 5-6…I have no desire because 4 was that bad

Garbage. Yes I’m being a dick, but i just didn’t like those games. I’m sure they are fine games, but yea…no thanks.

I only played the original game. I liked it though. I should get around to playing the others.

@Pertho You should play Battle Network 6.

What Battle Network 3 was to 1-3, 6 is for 4-6. I group 4-6 together since they introduced cross fusion and dark chips.

For Battle Network/Starforce, Capcom always gets it right in 3s.

Battle Network was surprisingly damn cool. I only ever played 1 and 2 but I definitely enjoyed them, strange as they were.

…I agree Zero is probably the best sidescrolling megaman series though, those games are amazing.

might as well rename this the megaman thread tho, I know we have one but its buried deep

was there a reason why the original cel shaded design for mighty was scrapped for the early ps2 one?

That was concept art.

Even though the Zero series was far more consistent in terms of level design, I still think X1/2 trump them overall. They’re a bit more accessible/forgiving while still keeping the challenge factor intact. I never really saw the point of having collectible power-ups (Cyber-elves) only for the game to punish you for using them.

Also, I really liked Megaman 8. Bad voice acting aside, the gameplay is solid and has so much charm and polish thrown into it. Good selection of weapons too, and Rush Cycle was really fun to play around with. Definitely one of the stronger entries in the classic series.

Yea i never understood the point of giving you Cyber Elves then punishing you for using them. Shit was stoopid.

Yeah concept art should give the view of how the creators want and intend the game to look like.

Well it didn’t punish you per say. All it did was create a sense of challenge to unlock the Omega elf. You could still be S rank and have full stock life.

Omega Elf? Using a Cyber-elf simply penalized your rank, which would more than likely prevent you from nabbing an EX Skill for that mission. Using an elf that granted permanent effects to Zero (like increased health or slower wall-slides) tanked your rank for not only the rest of your play-through, but subsequent ones as well. Zero 3 and 4 made it a little better with the use of satellite elves and the weather system, but I still felt that the ranking system was flawed in the way it was executed. The entire point of a power-up is to make the player’s character stronger, don’t penalize them for using an item that they put the work in to collect.

ZX did a good job with keeping things challenging and fun, but the map system was the thorn in that game’s side. Advent fixed that but added a bunch of extra playable forms that hold the sole purpose of item collecting and opening doors. I wouldn’t mind seeing a ZX3 if they were to fix the issues that both prequels had.

that jackson elf. I fyou passed the game without using any cyber elf while having all of them you unlocked Jackson. And I’m talking about the first one.

The second one you didn’t even need the EX becasue there was 2 energy tanks lying around and was significantly easier than 1. also, you didn’t need the EX moves, and the only reason you would want an S rank is to collect things. You could still have A rank and use elves in 1 and 2. EX was just extra reward for the S rank challenge.

the form was much more important to gameplay and that wasn’t dependent on rank iirc

We finally got a release date:

I haven’t been keeping up with this at all. Apparently, the entire transformation mechanic that was promised in the Kickstarter has been scrapped? Due to “budget” reasons?

We got fucking trolled. Inafune getting aroused right now wiping his ass with our money.

Wait really? The whole transformation system is gone?

I’ve said it multiple times that the drama with the backer forum an shit didn’t wasn’t something I cared about, and it’s still not something I care about. I’m far more concerned about the rocky as fuck development, and considering the transformation system was one of the features I was most looking forward to…I’m really just not that interested in this game anymore. Even the delay didn’t really bother me since delayed games should eventually be good, but I mean just huge chunks of shit bein chopped off the game to make deadline and it STILL needs to be delayed to be finished?

Probably hold onto my money while listening for impressions, and even would probably only pick up on sale. Real disappointing, was really looking forward to this for my Vita, but it just doesn’t seem to be. Pity.
