Game looks lifeless and trash. Shovel Knight had a lot less money and looks colorful and vibrant.
Where did the money go?
Mighty No.9’s 3D graphics look awful, the color schemes look like shit, the robot masters look like shit.
I watched all the trailers and gameplay footage of the game and nothing clicked.
Thank God there’s Rogue Legacy, Shovel Knight and the Mega Man collection to pick up the slack for me.
I fucking love 2D platformers and this one looks like a disappointment.
I mean to be fair to the MN9 team, none of the stretch goals were to go towards improving how the game looks, they were all to add content. That being said I really just think the general art style is pretty shitty and they really didn’t do a good job with the polish. They were going for a Pixar art style with an Asylum Films budget. Character models are really shit, the distance between the foreground and background objects looks weird, just in general the designs are kinda shitty looking.
I also wished the collection included MM7, as it was one of my favorites behind MM2. MM8 I don’t care about playing, I imagine they will re-release 9+10.
Inafune should have taken note on how ori looks.
That or mighty nine uses its own unique engine.
Yeah Ori and the Blind Forest and Dust: An Elysian Tail are both low budget sidescrollers and look amazing.
Record breaking fundraiser looks like shit in comparison. Sad world.
Funny enough, the Art and Programming was done all by one guy when it came to Dust. And homeboy had to make the engine from scratch while raising a kid, hanging out with the lady, and maintaining a full time job. Took him 4 years, that shit is impressive.
Where as Mighty No 9, fuckin’ 70% of that money went into their little animated series that’s coming out mid next year.

NES MM games are overrated, they’re all great especially 3 which is my favorite, but I don’t have much of a desire to play any of them ever again unlike say the X series.
And the other 30% went on cocaine and whores.
