Japanese companies don’t usually internalize consumer input outside of technical issues when developing a product. This behavior and outlook on consumer manufacturer roles extends to a variety of diffrent industry.
Only reason other Japanese companies have such outreach is that they want to look relevant in terms of trends. Nintendo and Konami do not listen to or consider fan inputs outside of technical problems. But companies that make things like mortal kombat or call of duty, etc do listen more willingly and implement more willingly. look at what capcom did 3 times with street fighter.
Not a single player recommendation was considered, yet they had an “outreach” when a new update was slated for release. They had an outreach for mega man legends 3, with massive consumer input and participation. Scrapped thy shit anyway (fuck you inafune)
Nintendo had outreach for ssb, they didn’t care and did what they wanted to do anyway. Japanese developers don’t give a shit about consumer inoutx and inafune should have been as Japanese as possible with this shit and just released developer notes every week on word press with a comment section.
Some of the best proof for this behavior is on the Nintendo outreach, people push and ask for roms on wii u, but Nintendo doesn’t notice or care.
Since the success of the Mighty No 9 kickstarter, why not make another one! Another game now development by the same team, but they need your help, once again, to get this created. Inafune probably should have waited till after release, but mno9 does seem complete at this point. Probably backing at a much lower amount this time, but since Mighty No 9 is actually coming out and looks good I’m not worried about them doing their job.
