I used to make a lot of RPGs when I first got out of college. It wasn’t easy and took a looooooong time to get things done, especially as a one-man dev team, but it was so much fun.
That’s because the logic isn’t well thought out from the get go. not saying it’s easy, but the issue is that who ever is coding needs to do a better job from the get go.
coding sucks, but it’s so important in any computer field.

I’m have a theory that game inafune is the reason legends 3 didn’t happen. Why wouldn’t Calvin let him. Thhere was an issue explosion of mega man ganes and not one of them was legends.
Coding is hardcore, it takes a shit load of lines just to make a simple task. In my C++ class a took years ago very few students I believe passed the final test. You had just one code problem you have to resolve and show it to the teacher. It was like 10 minutes before the test’s end, the room was full with people when I logged off my computer, got up and left.fuck it I had to prepare for my next exam I’ve the same day, Japanese…lol. I passed that one though.
My worst coding experience was trying to change Robin Baumgartner’s Mario AI from finishing the stage as fast as possible to getting as many coins as possible. I watched Mario run his fat ass through that stage about a thousand times. After everyone turns in their attempt my prof goes, “Yeah… I didn’t realize how tightly everything was tied to this time variable. I don’t think it’s really possible to get this one working like I wanted”
My worst coding experience happened in college. Never mind the fact this school wasn’t known for tech, but I had this Chinese mongrel who probably had the same success with English as those passing his class. His only audible mumblings/trademarks were “Swiss sisterms” and “Java doesn’t care”. YEAH SALLIE MAE DOESN’T CARE EITHER MAHFUCKA
I love and hate how accurate ratemyprofessor reviews are, after the fact…
I didn’t even have a proper coding class and only took up to HTML (will be taking Java and C though).
And I had the same problem, could not understand a single word this Chinese dude was saying…ended up having to stay 2-3 hours in lab instead of 2 hours max because of that.
the ONLY professor that teaches next level programming (which is a requirement for me, being a Math major) got a 1 on ratemyprofessor, so help me god.
Inafune should have do e the standard Japanese thing and just shut the fuck up and keep the public at bay by not making a medium for them to interact with the public. Fucking amateur
They just hired a horrible community manager. Once she started banning people from forum access THAT THEY PAID FOR because she disagreed with them (not that they broke any forum rules) she should have been canned. They need to step up their damage control 101.
Almost every company has some community outreach thing. It’s a fantastic way to make the consumer feel like they’re involved in the process of making games, and a great way to tell a company their game has problems that need addressing.
They just fucked up by hiring the wrong person to read a forum, communicate between the forum and the development staff, and to make sure people didn’t post dick pics.
