Ducktales was made by Wayforward, not Capcom. Wayforward was FORCED to go through Capcom to make the game because they were remaking a Capcom game, which Capcom had the rights to. It saying Capcom when you start it up means very little.
Strider is being made by Double Helix. I’m not looking forward to it at all. I foresee the game being hit by the Capcom Cycle, give game that people want to bad developer, game comes out, no one likes it or buys it, doesn’t get good reviews, Capcom then says said game/series doesn’t have any demand and kills it forever. We’ll see, but I’m not any sort of hopeful.
Bionic Commando Rearmed, funny story, Capcom shut down the dev team after BC09 (which is one of my favorite games this generation and what I say is one of the most underrated games of all time) because it didn’t get good reviews, but a lot of the complaints it got were from things Capcom made the dev team do. One of the most major complaints being that the game wasn’t free roam, which was a decision Capcom Japan forced on the development of the game, and when the game came out and people didn’t like that the game was linear, they blamed Grin for it, and then Grin had to shut down. They gave Rearmed 2 to another dev team, and while Rearmed 2 isn’t a bad game, it isn’t as good as Rearmed 1 either.
And then when you look at their other games they decide to work on like Dark Void, DmC, SFxT, Asura’s Wrath, what they turned Lost Planet into, Remember Me, Resident Evil 5 and 6, just overall this generation Capcom has left a bad taste in my mouth and I’m beginning to not want anything to do with them. They’re basically trying to live off of the quality of the games in their past while simultaneously killing off the franchises of their past. It baffles me the decisions Capcom makes.
So people didn’t really want Bionic Commando Rearmed or the new Strider coming out? I’m pretty sure there was palpable excitement everywhere for Ducktales and SFIV. Yeah ignore everything I said about the end product being good and just focus on the negatives. Like I already said Capcom does listen. You think they were happy with the sales of Resident Evil 6? I hate that game. I don’t like SFIV. I think it was shitty how they handled Lost Planet 3. I can go on all fucking day but that’s not what you started with.
The dumbest fucking thing about us going back and forth is that neither of us know the inner workings of Capcom’s finances or personal. Painting your broad strokes over Capcom with your palm like it’s a finger painting session. BUSINESS is way more nuanced that that and the fact that you can’t even respect what good has been done is short sighted.
All this over me just stating the fact that Capcom has been putting out new games for some of their IPs. And then you try to call me out on it because it was “outsourced.” Go swallow your purist bullshit somewhere else. Every word you say smells like hog ass.
I’m pretty sure Grin got shut down after their work on the abysmal Terminator Salvation game which came over BC09.
Wanted didn’t do so well either. I think BCR was their best game to come out during that time. Unless BC became a mega hit Grin was doomed regardless.
You know I feel you there. I loved Bionic Commando 09 too. But it wasn’t just reviews that damned it. Sales sucked balls too. RE: ORC got shitty reviews but did okish sales wise. Better than Bionic Commando that’s for sure.
I agree that how Capcom treats outsourcing is wrong and generally how they’ve done business this console cycle is confusing (it would be bad if they never made any money but they are here and there) but if it’s their IP, it’s their IP, regardless of who makes it. That’s why I said what I said. Who makes the game doesn’t matter if the game is any good (and sells). We only get mad when it turns out shitty. Everyone loved Platinum for doing Metal Gear Rising. If that game was ass we probably would have yelled at both them and Konami for doing such a poor job.
Another example of outsourcing working is again with Konami and Castlevania. Some fans hate the change but it was/is a temporary one and one that is working financially for all the parties involved.
Again, who develops the game doesn’t matter if the game is good. That’s all I was trying to get at. That and the fact that not everything Capcom has published has sucked. I mean would it make some of y’all feel better if I just stated broadly “FUCK CAPCOM”? I feel like some of you would just prefer it be that or me sucking their dick.

Capcom is literately a shell of its former self this generation their best games this gen came out came out like 2009 and earlier. DMC4, Bionic Commando Rearmed and RE5 thats it I cant think of any other good new games from them this gen. Some of their games could have turned out good if they weren’t rushed the company has lost way too much talent and hasn’t recovered.
Dead Rising 2 and Dragon’s Dogma were great.
Well, just dropped a 20 on #9. I can’t believe that they’re nearly 3/4 of the way there and there’s still 30 days left! I really hope that they hit that 2.5 mil goal to get a PS360 release.

Some people just want to play games that are fun.
They don’t give a shit about the other 8 million dumbasses who throw their money away on Call of Duty/Madden/Last of Us/insert modern pos game here… They don’t give a fuck about DLC, or buying new costumes and stages.
There are some people who want to get the most bang out of their buck on a single purchase and not be nickel and dimed to death. They just want to pick up a game and be challenged… be entertained BECAUSE THE GAME IS FUN AND ENJOYABLE TO PLAY, not because of whatever corporate bullshit enabled its creation.
Stop complaining every time some shit comes out on a system you don’t like. Stop bitching because you don’t like the thought of “yet another Mega Man game” or “this would sell better on X/Y/Z console”… You don’t see me running into The Last of Us thread talking about how shitty it is or making fun of people for pouring money into a rip off like League of Legends, because if those people enjoy it, good for them… It doesn’t affect me, but motherfuckers always coming into threads for old-school style shit always got some slick shit to say… I don’t get it.
