Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

I agree the concept looks better than the reality, but I just want to pew pew…

Man if you like Zero in X5 you’ll love him in X4. Much much smoother gameplay out of him in X4. He’s really fun in that one.

Zero is also fun in X6 but ruined by some questionable ability mapping and horrendous level design.

He’s mad fun in X8 too.

X-4 GDLK
X5 not GDLK but still really good
X6 really great boss attack patterns especially the latter half of the game, but also full of bullshit even for a MM game
X7-8 garbage
MM9 decent, but really too much copy pasta and some questionable enemy placement.
MM10 haven’t played it and probably won’t for a long time.

And fuck the Battle Network series, turn based games aren’t fun  (most of them)

I liked X7, but it’s probably just the nostalgia factor. Only played X1 and X7.

X8 is nowhere close to garbage

x4 and x5 is all that matters.

The problem here people is that X7 and X8 don’t exist. I don’t know why people here are talking about it.

What was terrible about X8? I thought it was a return to form for the series. X5 was a disappoint, X6 was completely garbage and X7 was radically different with it’s not fully committed 3D gameplay. The return of Vile was great. Other than Axel returning and adding two more navigators I don’t see what to hate about X8

I tried a bit of X4 and I didn’t like it as much. It feels like there’s just as much talking in that one as in X5. The extended boss health at the end didn’t bother me in X5, but again I was using Zero the entire time and he’s way better then X. That jumping circle slash makes everything so much easier, especially that boss with the 3-4 orbs and they trap you with Spikes coming out of the sides.

batte network isn’t a turn based game.

it’s a 3x3 square game of controlling space. you get to move freely within your space, attack and avoid. the only turn you wait is to use chips which allow you to

use attack chips that do x amount of damage
use health recovery chips
use self modifier chips
use bullshit chips
use chips which alter the terrain to your advantage.

Battle Network 3 was the best one in the series, granted I only played 1-4. 1 is to plain, 2 is an incomplete 3, 3 nailed it. 4 was too short and wasn’t as fun, or as big. I should play 5-7 since I have a DS emulator.

id argue that x3 had some of the best level designs. I’ve never found myself swapping g through weapons as fast as I do in x3.

sure the music wasnt as catchy as the other 3. but it was more than a solid game imo because it incorporated sub weapons well.

my only complain is that I found myself going back foe upgrades more than any other mega man. x5 was just mess. x6 would have been Bette if it didn’t go full retard on you

_

also, instead of getting command mission, x7 and x8. As well as the multiple battle networks, and the anniversary collections (even though battle network 3 is one of the best Megaman’s of all time), we should have gotten Legends 3 only

X8 way better than X7. Classic MM style that mofos complain for…then complain again about being copy paste…smh.

With all of the Mega Man talk I’ve got one important question. What were game sales like? I’m thinking they had to be mediocre. Granted one could argue that pumping out mediocre content gets you mediocre sales, but it’s still cause and effect.

they where bad selling games

Eh the only later games that could be considered mediocre imo are X7, Battle Chip Challenge, Starforce 2 probably, maybe MMBN4 (due to forced replaying for extra content), XOver, XOver, XOver, XOver, XOver, XOver, MMX IOS, XOver…

Megaman has sold over 30 million all together.

I remember Capcom stating they were pleased with MM9 and MM10s sells, both good games. MM10 hard mode is much much better than normal though, and you have to beat normal to unlock it.

Individually all I remember is MM2 being the best selling, and MMBN3 being the second best selling MM (I read somewhere the MMBN4 passed this in sells but not sure how reliable the source).

I think Battle Network was the most successful series sells wise, with the anime tie in helping out a lot.

Starforce 3 is fucking awesome. It sucks it took Capcom 3 times to get the formula right and by that point the series was dead.

For BN I think 2,3, and 6 are the best of that series. 4 introduced Souls, revampled Bass.EXE, and had an awesome boss theme but as a package wasn’t too great. I didn’t have any problems with 5DS but it wasn’t really a standout, with people mixed about the liberation missions. 6, again, got the formula of souls/crosses from 4-5 right and was great end to the series.

All Megaman Zero games are good. I guess you could say 4 is the weakest. 3 is probably considered the best due to Omega but I really liked 2 as well.

ZX had a terrible map that could effect your enjoyment of the game, which ZXA fixed. Many transformation to play around with, not as great as the Zero games but still good games.

Megaman Battle Network 4 is probably the worst Megaman game ever made.

And Mighty #9 looks hype, day one on that.

Niggas always worried about sales… Unless you own/have stock in a game company, sales should be the last thing to be concerned with.
Yeah, you might not get anymore of that awesome game if it doesn’t sell well, but you can’t control what people buy, either… Developers and Publishers need to be more concerned with quality-- That’s the best salesman you can have.

This is why I have ten-year-olds wondering why there aren’t any new Mega Man games even though he’s such an amazing character… :bluu:

Is this game fun? Do I feel I got my money’s worth? These are the important questions.

not really. consumers, especially mainstream consumers dont neccesaraly buy a product based on quality unless its something they eat. with the current growth of the meduim, sales matter more. being able to sell mass numbers of games is what developers will continue to do, u till games become a niche. once you have the meduim go back to what it was, quality will become the norm again.

your hobby being picked up by millions doesnt mean an increase in quality. it can be the most damaging element to a scene/market.

This industry can’t crash soon enough… People spending $500 million on ad campaigns for a game that can’t even hit 60fps, but a game that does it as an afterthought has to ask for donations… :bluu:

Shit makes no sense.
