Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

I want this game on my Vita. This will be awesome on the go

Azure Striker, Mighty #9, Everything from Wayforward, this E3 is gonna be awesome.

And adding this to the list of things to buy ASAP.

That is so bizarre to say. Do you have a source? The Megaman franchise is just a run and gun Shooter with platforming elements. There’s a ton of games like that and not all of them are the same. Fuck, Treasure left Konami when they were dissatisfied with Contra 3 and wanted to do something radically different. Enter Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier…

I just hope with Mighty No. 9 that the play style becomes even more different from what we’ve seen and won’t follow a boss order. The boss order and the recycling of elements are (to me) the most frustrating elements of the Mega Man franchise.

I don’t have an exact quote, but that was basically Capcom’s go-to answer whenever someone would ask them about Mega Man… They would say that they were trying to find ways to innovate and keep the series feeling fresh…
Then Inafune and Inti Creates drop Mighty No. 9 and Azure Striker Gunvolt on us and I’m giving those fuckers a death stare.

I’m sorry you feel that Mega Man is frustrating. You seem to have a dislike for Mega Man judging from your previous posts… My sympathies to you for letting your inner child die like that.

Wow.
Capcom is fucking dumb if they actually feel that way.
lol
Wooooow.

I remember during the PS2/Lunchbox/Xbox era there were a fuckton of Megaman games coming out.

Megaman X7
Megaman X8
Megaman Zero 1-4
Megaman Battle Network 1-6
Megaman Network Transmission
Megaman X Command Mission
Megaman Anniversary Collection
Megaman X Collection

^^That’s a lot. I was happy about it, but a lot of people weren’t.

Megaman had his time, glad Capcom put the breaks on the series.

MM got like 1000 different games and like a dozen sub-series, he needs a fuckin timeout

A lot of fanboys not gonna wanna hear that tho, they still too butt-hurt to use logic.

“OMGZ, Capcom doesn’t show their mascot respect, even tho already made over 9000 games with him in it”

I don’t hate Megaman I just feel it’s overrated and there’s better action platformers. Especially on the NES. I would say Shatterhand and NES Batman are overall better. Shatterhand especially.

What annoys me is the constant recycling of ideas. In almost every Megaman game there’s a level with disappearing blocks, an underwater level with spikes everywhere, a level where the wind pushes you or something to that effect.

It’s just too much copy/pasting and other franchises are guilty of this but not to the extent of Megaman. Castlevania will have part of a level with unsteady platforms and Medusa heads and a level set in a clock tower and you will fight the Grim Reaper and Dracula but for the most part they’re pretty different games.

I do want to check out X4 and X5 though.

PS: for the record, I’ve beaten Megaman 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and X1.

Goddamn… Forget Call of Duty… Mega Man is the original over-milked franchise. Capcom was releasing them shits two and three times a year during the turn of the millennium…

No wonder some people got sick of the franchise. Someone should have told these fuckers to slow the fuck down, this is why the series kept getting diminishing returns-- Those poor developers were tired of working on that shit and fans were tired of them coming out every six months.

Yea I kind of fell out with Megaman around X5/X6. Never into Battle Network and it’s spin offs. Was annoyed when they finally make a Serial Series Megaman Anime it’s of the Battle Network series instead of OG Megaman or X. Didn’t like X7, Demoed X8 and it seemed alright, I hear good things about it but by that time I was pretty tired of Megaman. I did like Megaman Zero on my GBA, I played that a lot and really loved it, but never really got into that series sequels. Bought Megaman 9 and it was cool I liked it tho I don’t think I beat it. I should go back and rectify that, but I didn’t buy MM10.

I dunno I just don’t feel starved for Megaman games, I think the series taking a haitus is fine. Let it dissapear for a while, we spend so much time shitting on EA and Ubisoft for releasing sequel after sequel, and then whine and cry when Capcom doesn’t do the same thing.

M#9 looks great I can’t wait to play it, will be perfect for my Vita, very stoked. I still hope it continues to do things that distance it from Megaman.I have faith tho, I think the transformations are gonna be the big deal here and will take this game to that next level. What they have here already looks really fun.

I played all of them except X7 and X8. I’d do it all over again. Megaman might be milked into infinity, but I still love it.

Exactly, except I also played X7 and X8 along with Starforces, ZX, 9 and 10.

Fuck this convo especially in this “new megamanz” topic. We are getting “new megamanz”, people wanted “new megamanz” that is why most people backed this. That is why people went out and made some ok to fantastic fangames while Capcom were sitting on their asses (well they did “license” one).

Unless they’re makes some extremely drastic changes, the video and everything else still looks like “new megamanz” to me. Stop denying, ya’ll still want dat megamanz.

Not like these shits require some insane budget like other milked franchises.

Battle Network, Starforce, and Legends aren’t even traditional MM.

Aight fuck this rant though. I will agree that there are a lot megaman and megaman-like games to go back to, and I will also agree that Megaman isn’t the perfect series.

Also fuck Xover. Capcom had enough budget to PUMP OUT THAT FUCKING BULLSHIT THOUGH.

Finally playing Megaman X5. I do like it. It’s nice to be able to play as Zero the entire time. I don’t like the constant barrage of text warning you about shit, it felt very unnecessary excluding that fire level. Too much dialog and cut scenes too. I’ve almost beaten the 8 bosses and all of them have been easy as fuck.

Beat Megaman X5. I liked it a lot more than the rest of the games I’ve played. Almost entirely because of Zero and how he plays radically different from X. The way X/Megaman plays is just boring to me after all this time and Zero is awesome. Just going to say it; X sucks fucking dick. A sub boss that could be destroyed in under 5 seconds by Zero can take far longer with X. Level design was good too and didn’t feel like copy/paste but I’m sure it re-used ideas from the other X games but because the only other one I put enough time into to beat was X1 I didn’t notice them.

Is X4 worth checking out? I know X6 was something the staff at Capcom were forced to make and X5 was meant to be the end. X7 and so on were shit.

I really didn’t like X5 all too much. Alia talks so much that you can’t really enjoy the game, boss refights at the end of the game take forever because Capcom decided to give them oversized health bars, you have to kill yourself multiple times if you want to collect a decent number of power-up parts, the ranking system made no sense (why does killing enemies count against you?), and there was some stage design bias against Zero (he can’t collect certain items like heart tanks in some stages).

The game had a few good points like a solid soundtrack, nice throwbacks to older MM titles, some sick armor designs, and Dynamo, but it’s not one of the titles that I find myself replaying.

X4 on the other hand is pretty amazing. It’s a little on the easy side, but is all-around solid in terms of gameplay. X1, X2, and X4 are probably the most objectively solid titles in the series in terms of gameplay and level design.

Command Mission is worth looking into as well if you’re into RPGs at all.

You can play as only Zero in X4 as well, and I think X4 was the best one… though I’m bias because that’s the first one I actually owned and beat as a kid… so it has the feels.

I’m like the only person in the world that liked X7.

We should make a thread for Mighty No. 9. I think that game has some hype behind it.

I wonder why it has hype behind it though…

All I’m hearing now is how people are disappointed because the art style doesn’t look like the concept art they said it wouldn’t look like.

Concept art looked so good. The current look is bland in comparison.
