I’m like on 17, shit is fucking good. Every year I wonder what games can hold my interest to keep buying shit to play them on but every year there’s a handful of games that make it worth it, Mighty No. 9 is looking like it’s going to be one of those games.
For me, I’d want to see Roll-Call and Aero-Call in the game. One as a spotter and one as ground/field support. If so, then maybe Aero-Call can get her own mode and have transformation abilities based on the Eddie/Flip Top on her back. Otherwise, it’s not that much of a priority for me as long as the game in itself and solid, challenging, and gratifying.
On a different note, congratulations of the first stretch goal milestone. I am really curious to see what’s beyond that 2.5 Million $ mile stone though.
Does anyone else want to see the making of-documentary get scrapped? I’m not liking the idea of Comcept spending money on anything not directly related to the game’s development. He plans on including the backers on the decision making which would mean frequent updates. That in itself could cover making of as it would serve a similar purpose.
Seeing Infaune developing this, Kamiya making quality games at Platinum* and Mikami making The Evil Within is really cool. It’s interesting seeing veteran game developers that used to be at Capcom show that they still got it and then some.
A making of is a good business decision. Obviously the fans want the game, and Kickstarter is a bit of a “fan bonding” type thing, but a making of takes it a step further for another set of gamers. It takes the whole “grass roots” thing a step further. Establishing a fanbase before a game is even done is never a bad idea.
They never lost it… They just couldn’t do what they really wanted at Captake all the good shit outta the game and sell it in 10 different DLC packscom, because management is dumber than a box of rocks and not nearly as useful as said rocks.
So glad to see there are still people that will support good ideas in gaming.
I’m about 99% sure those developers could do what they wanted creatively at Capcom. There’s no way Inafune could have made even 1/3rd of the Megaman games he did if Capcom didn’t have faith in him and the franchise. Similar to Mikami and Kamiya. No way games like RE and DMC weren’t heavily influenced by those guys, especially when you consider how long those guys were with the RE series. It’s just that, over time, Capcom lost faith in these guys and they had their various falling outs with the company. Clover Studio wouldn’t have existed if Capcom didn’t have a huge amount of faith in in Hideki and Kamiya, they literally had a 100% creative freedom to go HAM on any concept they wanted. It’s just too bad new IP’s don’t typically sell well, and after numerous games of theirs not reaching “sales expectations” they got GGPO’d. Now with the games they’re making, it’s like a personal goal to make franchises/spiritual successors to their past Capcom games(typically their most successful) in such a way to not only give Capcom a “fuck you” but at the same time giving fans what they want.
Inafune=No. 9 is his Megaman 2.0.
Mikami’s The Evil Within is his RE series 2.0. Shadows of the Damned=RE side project.
Kamiya’s Bayonetta=DMC 2.0.
A female version of the hero should be made for the right reason- If she’s a part of the original vision of the game’s creator. And not from the wrong reasons- To please a current internet bitching trend.
A few years ago Capcom made a couple of games called Megaman ZX, which both had a playable female character. Feminists did not buy the games in droves, because they were never REALLY interested in videogames to begin with. If you must have the main collection of pixels share your gender/race/religion/whatever in order to enjoy the game, then you don’t really like videogames, you just like to bitch about stuff.
So please go talk about it in the dedicated thread and let this thread be about what the game IS, not what it ISN’T.
The story begins after Megaman is defeated and kidnapped by Dr. Wily. Has no other choice, Dr. Light sends Roll Casket to investigate and save her brother. In this game player will fight against eight robot masters. Just like the original version, player will take the opponent’s weapon to be used against another boss. Also, some of robot masters from the original series can be found here. Please note this is a doujin game and not endorsed by Capcom as copyright holder.
The game isn’t full at the IS and only IS state yet. That’s why this Kickstarter was launched in 2013 instead of late 2014. Everyone is well within their rights as backers to make comments about what they’ve seen and what they would like to see. I will give you credit for bringing up the ZX games. That series totally deserved a third game.
With Call’s current design I can see her pull off some stuff like this
“Enter Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham, who offered up some assistance over the weekend to create a 3DS version of Mighty No. 9. Nothing is set in stone yet, but the official Twitter for No. 9 did respond, and is currently reaching out to the team so see what’s what.”
The impact this project is having is so much bigger than I think anyone could have imagined.
I like documentaries in general and gaming could use better documentaries. OR they could do in-game developer commentary like Valve did with Half-Life Episode 1 and 2 and Eidos is doing with Deus Ex Human Revolution on the Wii U/PC/HD Consoles.
