Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

Back on track guys…

How do you think the power up system is going to work? Do you think you’re going to have a limited amount of energy like MegaMan games, or is there some kind of new system?

Will the black character steal the abilities instead of “absorbing” them?

I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the same (or pretty similar at least) with your standard weapon having infinite power, and your subweapons needing energy. I’d imagine stealling bosses powers is also making a return.

Love the look of the weapons morphing into one another.

i just had a thought.

i really hate to be that kind of dude.
but NOTHING will beat the original design of mega man…
i’m sorry but if capcom release classic mega man revamped on their end. i’ll probably still play that too.

blue mega man is just too iconic.
nothign will ever beat it.

That kind of thinking is really going to hinder your enjoyment of future titles. Yea, MM is an iconic character, but to say nothing will ever be better is foolish.

Roll

Call

Capcom is half of the reason this game exists.

I know I’d like to see a system that allows you to switch weapons without having to go to the pause menu. The FG player in me would be fine with having them all tied to individual controller motions, but I doubt that’s a direction they’d take. Something to just quickly swap between powers, either an ability wheel or hot key toggle of some kind will help a lot. At the very least, a way to switch between normal buster (projecting he will have one) and your currently selected sub weapon.

Or Konami for Gradius 6.

Wait, I may be a little biased on that one…

They’ve been doing that since they started making Megaman X games.

WHY AM I JUST FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS NOW?

I grew UP with Megaman, and he is without a doubt one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE Characters. I love every iteration of MM, my favorite without a doubt though is X. All the great times playing Megaman X games and being completely immersed in them. I remember the days I would go on gamewinners.com, which would take like an hour to load just to see where the parts were. Sometimes, I had to fight the urge to cheat and spent hours finding them myself.

It’s going to sound corny as hell for a grown man to be saying this, but when I was a kid (and yeah, even now) MegaMan was always a role model. He wanted peace, but to get that peace he had to destroy. For Capcom to ruin my favorite franchise from them was the worst thing they could do to a fan. For Capcom to usurp rights over a character Inafune created, is the worst thing you can do to an artist.

Finally, from a technical standpoint what Capcom and video game companies do is terrible. As an artist, you take a lot of pride in your work, and you spend MONTHS perfecting it to YOUR liking. You see your creation, whether it be a abstract/painting/portrait/puppet/ video game character as your own vision. That’s something no one should be able to take away from you without your consent.

I back this 150%. Goodbye sweet prince, you’ll live on in our hearts and you’ll always be there at our *beck & Call *

Shoulder button power switching since 1993!

There is a way to quickly swap between powers in the newer Megaman games. In order to do so, press the left/right trigger button.

Holy shit. It wasn’t until NonSexualRice made the joke that I realised the pun is on Beck & Call.

My god I am an idiot.

After the Zero games came out I started using the shoulder buttons for dashing and secondary fire. I swear there’s so much more precision playing like that.

Call should just be like a female Zero from MMX8 with all the different melee weapons.

Or if Call isn’t playable and is just in your earhole all day then there could be a Bass, Vile (Maverick Hunter X), or Protonan type character but just female.

I like what Shovel Knight did with its characters and introduced a playable heroic female character to the game. The Shovel Knight is married to Shield Knight and she’s a hot tempered armored lady (that ends up getting herself into trouble). It both adds a female character that’s playable and one that kinda breaks out of the stereotypical female character mold withou feeling forced.

This game is probably going to walk away with $3million and isn’t out till 2015 so we’ll have plenty of time to work this stuff out.

Btw who else loved Roll in Megaman Powered Up? She was the melee character and I loved her and her monthly costumes for it.

how the fuck did you miss that? even the kickstarter puts emphasis on it… “(That’s right: Beck & Call.)”

Didn’t want them to go backwards like they did for MegaMan 9. Great game, but annoying having to pause to swap. Been a while, maybe I’m off base.

This is relevant though.

Looks like Renegade Kid (Mutant Mudds) is offering to help with a 3DS port if they want to go that route as well: https://twitter.com/JoolsWatsham/statuses/374593917863202816

I have no idea who that group is, or what they have made.
