Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

Source please?

So again if anyone missed it:

SRK SHOULD DO A SIDE FUNDRAISER AND BUY AT LEAST ONE 2,500$ PACKAGE AND CREATE A CHARACTER IN THE GAME.

So set it up dude. Your idea, you get it done.

All you have to remember is that Capcom sued Data East for copying Street Fighter with Fighter’s History, and lost. I think Inafune is OK.

Finally, Dildo Man can become a reality.

In this topic or as a separate topic? i dunno how to go about that.

Jesus, everytime I look at the Kickstarter page I get PUMPED UP.

This game is gonna rock faces. I can’t wait.

Srsly. Inafune is just standing on Capcom’s front lawn with his pants around his ankles waving his giant brass balls at them whilst he screams "Hey Capucom! FAKKA YUUUUU!"
Edit: and now I’ve pledged, The first (and probably only) time I think I’ve given cash to a kickstarter.

Why do so many people have such a negative reaction to Kickstarter? I’ve kickstarted/indiegogoed quite a few things this year and so far so good. Skullgirls turned out amazing and Yatagarsu looks like it should be nice. I also kickstarted Shovel Knight, C-Wars, Chasam, and Ghost Song. The first three have been staying in touch with backers and those with beta access. Again so far so good. I know there are some bad seeds on Kickstarter but it seems like just mentioning it makes some people want to gag.

Kickstarter can backfire, it’s happened a few times, so it’s not totally unfounded.

Kickstarter just works differently to how people have always bought products. The traditional model is

  • Person/group has an idea
  • Idea is paid for by investors
  • Product is created
  • Consumers buy product.

In the Kickstarter model, the investor and the consumer are actually the same person in the equation. Once Kickstarter and similar thigns become more common and accepted, you’ll see less of the odd backlash you see against these type of projects.

It pretty much just boils down to people being unfamiliar with the idea behind Kickstarter.

…also, most people have no fucking idea how expensive some stuff is to create, and when they see a huge pricetag they think they are getting ripped off, despite them not knowing anything about the buisness at all.

The way this is going a console release is bound to happen, hope its for next gen instead of ps3/360 though.

I also feel like if the game moves units capcom will mysteriously been working on a HD mega man game for the pass 3 years that will release after this.

Love how there’s always some ‘experts’ questioning the cost of game development just cause they’ve seen a few other kickstart pages that were asking for less lol

If you don’t contribute to this game then you want the terrorist to win.

When my friend told me about this I didn’t believe his detroit hoodrich ass. That nigga stay tryna play. This is a dream come true. This is what I live for.
2014 Hideki Kamiya starts a kickstarter for Devil Leg. A spiritual sequal to Godhand.

The No. 9 in the title is not a coincidence. It shows clearly that this game (and Megaman to a lesser extent) was influenced from the Anime/Manga of Cyborg 009.
Since no one sued Capcom over this, no one can sue him either…

Also a lot of the staff involved are veterans. So they’d also demand a higher salary.

Could Ultradavid weigh in on this?

Damn, Devil Leg. HAHAHAA. If that happens, I’m down.

This is SRK, the site that claims to love 2D platformers but still has a few people complaining that a Super Metroid inspired game looks too much like Super Metroid, so obviously not everyone here will be on the hype train for a Mega Man clone. By the way everyone 65 hours left to donate to Ghost Song and new footage is up, niggas will donate 700K to a Mega Man clone (which looks amazing) but Super Metroid Clone (also amazing looking) struggles for 40K?

New footage: http://vimeo.com/72660711#

So we have Super Metroid and now Mega Man…someone please tell WayForward to make a Contra kickstarter, and while we’re at it call Treasure for a Gunstar Heroes Kickstarter.

Mighty NO. 9 looks insane. Love the Bioshock big daddy inspired boss, love how Mega Man I mean Beck will also be a fully fledged transformer and that instead of lazily rehashing NES lukewarm shit as Capcom did with MM9 and 10, Inafune’s team sounds like they’re putting in serious thought into how they can push themselves, improving and innovating on the Mega Man formula we all love, more developers need that hungry, ambitious mindset.

Edit: If passionate SRK’ers have the foresight to predict Capcom might shut the kickstarter down, I’m certain so did Inafune and co. They wouldn’t have bothered making the effort if they thought there was a good chance of Capcom sending them a C&D on the other hand however, Capcom like any publicly traded company cares about profit above all else giving 0 fucks about a “PR shitstorm” as long as they make money. Don’t be shocked (but feel free to be really pissed) if this does get shut down since Cashcom will see the money people are obviously willing to throw at a Mega Man related game and by killing the competition be the only player on the Mega Man field, similar to how lots of people don’t like Madden but buy it anyway since it’s the only franchise allowed to use the official NFL license. If that happens obviously a lot of SRK and other nerd sites will boycott the announced Mega Man game, but financially we’re a drop in the ocean compared to most Mega Man fans who will buy anything with his name attached to it, proven by how they made sequels to that shitty Mega Man Battle Network series.

I’m not an expert by any means, but 900k to make a mega man clone just seems like a lot.

Near the bottom of the article

“As an interesting tidbit of information we learn directly from the developer’s twitter account that Dragon’s Crown is the first Vanillaware game to cost more than 100,000,000 Yen (little less then a million Dollars) to produce.”
