Midwest Championships 2010 - Chicago, IL - May 8-9 - 1st SSF4 Major + $1,000 Bonus!

Now isnt this the question on everyone’s mind?

Between the strict DRM and likely RROD (it happened a few times at Acen last year so its definitely a possibility), and evo running PS3. There aren’t many good reasons to switch to 360 (locals were the majority of the players 360 is fine). Banning wireless controllers fixes the only real problem with the PS3’s. While nothing can prevent a random RROD in the middle of a match.

All the consoles are going to be donated as well, will likely have all the save data, so again we won’t have the problem evo had last year where it kept on saying that “trophy wasn’t acquired”.

In the end it boils down to:
Banning wireless controllers (which add addditional input lag anyway and shouldn’t be used by serious competitors), or a 360 spasming out since its so poorly made in the middle of a match.

I find the PS3 as cumbersome as the next guy. All the issues just plain suck. However, I have had just as many issues trying to get shit done on the 360. I’ve had controllers not be recognized. I’ve had kids across the room press their guide button in the middle of matches. I’ve had people sign off of the proper account and sign back on with a different account name only to find that no characters were unlocked. I’ve had two of my personal 360’s RROD… Next gen systems suck.

Banning wireless controllers rocks! Allowing the dongle controllers seems a bit iffy to me, but I guess some kids really need it.

Anybody know if SSFIV is going to have a decent button config window so we don’t suffer from 30 minutes of kids trying to figure out their button config?

stop being a douche webster
not about system, bout the games.

also I’m relatively new to owning a ps3, but is there any way to DISABLE TROPHIES from popping up during play? I’ve seen this also happen during a tourney matches, hiding players lifebars, and it’s extremely ghey. 360 does this too, but usually tosses them into a spot that’s relatively out of the way from life/time/super meters. PS3 slaps it right on top of the P2 lifebar. Is this avoidable or another side-effect of ps3?

360’s sort of break slowly and most the time when they break the key issues stop the system from turning on or won’t read disks. I have been through 4 or 5 360’s and the odds of them breaking for the first time during a touney match is like 1 in a million. If u have a xbox that rrods all the time don’t bring it. But as the only 360 pad player to be at this event I am bias but I get the every thing the same as evo thing.

Big MWC announcements coming next week AND the week after! Stay tuned!

exactly. You’re on your 4th to 5th 360 because they keep on RROD or breaking down in some manner. I’m still on my first PS3 and haven’t had a lick of trouble since I got it used from gamestop a few years ago.

Working on arranging a ride.

Dongles are A++, should not run into a problem that I know of with any PS3. As for Wireless controllers, I agree on banning them. There was a kid at Arcade Legends that pretty much fucked up a tournament set up by having a wireless controller out and messing with the controls for another game. I don’t know about Wireless Joysticks however, considering some people play on them for games like Tekken and what not. Also, I can understand carrying PS3 Phats, which are pretty much Xbox sized, but the Slim is pretty travel compatible. lol

We sticky! We in there!

FUCK keits, this is the weekend before my finals! I could study while there but it’s gonna be mighty hard to convince my folks that it would be alright to go.

I guess I could lie to them about exactly WHEN finals week is…ugh. FML

Ride with someone, study in the car. Or study in your room before/after tournament hours. You gotta come!

Regarding the setups being ps3, I was wondering if anyone going to MWC had a viable option for 360 to ps3 adapter. I know this could go in the tech thread, but I am more looking to see if anyone going would be bringing something along as well.

I recommend just finding someone willing to lend you their stick. It’s a pain in the ass, but that’s what you get for not owning a PS3.
