strange…only difference ive seen since the upgrade…is that for some strange reason, loudness equalization got turned off somehow.

Upgraded but now my computer won’t recognize my printer.

This last upgrade forced me to do a registry hack to fix this issue where Win10 loves to auto-login to accounts that don’t have passwords.

This was already an issue before, since I’m not the only one to use this laptop I have, but my account is the one with the password. If i didn’t go to the account selection screen before rebooting, it would auto-login to the account without the password. Since the update it now did it every time before I found how to edit the registry to stop it. The solution MS provides (using this netplwiz program) to require a password to log in doesn’t work either, as the option is useless if any of the accounts have no password, it will auto-login to it.

People have complained about this on MS’s site and rightfully so. This is a terrible flaw to leave around when the system is just going to access someone’s account on startup. Especially if it’s not my account and therefore I don’t need to be waiting for this thing to load another person’s stuff before I can get back to the welcome screen to switch. It’s a waste of time and a security risk on top.

Pepperidge Farm remembers when people put boot up passwords on the bios, and the PC will not boot without the password.

One could argue the bigger security risk being an account without a password… :coffee:

If I wanted them to use a password I would just require a password. They don’t want one, so I don’t require one. I’m not screwing with the BIOS to force it. But I don’t care since I got the result from editing the registry.

Other than my issues, I really like Windows 10. Its easy to use and most of the issues people have can be disabled/worked around/whatever.

I don’t like that they took away my aero lite shits so my window things aren’t translucent.

I tried that window shell to make it more like Windows 7 but I switch back almost immediately.

now that all my PCs are on windows10…i can screen mirror my computers right? via wifi or bluetooth. i ccoulda sworn i read windows 10 gives you that option.

LOL.

I could argue a locked door is a better security measure than a log in password

There was something about that Fan made Aero hack for Win 10 that breaks the OS. I dont know the details, but you can ask preppy as he can give you the finer points.

Ok.

Put fucking passwords on everyone account.
If my parents in there 60s can learn to use a log-in password, anyone can.

I only share this laptop with one other person, and this person does not want a password on the account. I will not force one. I’ve had this laptop for several years and there hasn’t been an issue other than it being a shit laptop. My problem is with what this system does when it starts up, forcing a login that I don’t want. My account is password protected. I don’t need to access the other account unless I need to do cleanup and maintenance on it. I don’t want to wait for it to load just to have to leave it and log into my account.

So kindly take your suggestion and shove it up your ass.

I’d say that’s more to do with our philosophy on password creation:

I hope your crappy shit early 2000s gateway laptop you share with your mom burst into flames

So do I.

And it’s an HP.

If you’re gonna mock my shit laptop then at least know what brand of shit it is.

nigga…stop being that cheap. and buy yourself your own laptop. wtf.

sharing laptops with ANYONE is a bad idea.

HP, Dell, Gateway, who gives a fuck. Only thing that is a bigger piece of shit than your laptop is you.
You just a obstinate jerk who can’t get their room mate to learn basic computer security
Hope they view German midget dungeon port and infect it with a virus

I already view German midget dungeon porn without problem, Mr. Edgy.

And the thing that always gets me with this is that many sites force you to use symbols and numbers for your password. Gotta make it easy for someone…or something to recover.

like 5 years ago, i once downloaded AndyAndroid to my pc…which is a virtual android program. and i stupidly logged into my google account which had my debit card info attached to it. one month later i had to cancel my card cuz of suspicious activity. it was being used around the world.

wondered why there was a security breach with my card. then i remembered AndyAndroid and how i logged into it like a moron with my google account instead of just making a new google account.

passwords only protect so much. phishing and other hacker shit will still get you hacked if you arent careful
