Always welcome.

I haven’t held it consistantly lately, I’ve got alot going on at home right now.

Also, we do play Neo, but it by no means dominates the evening.

Is Wizzards CVS2 faster or slower?

Props to The Deity  . I’ll be looking to see if you picked up some new tricks  , but congrats, nonetheless, Clarence.

But in what games were there tournaments being held?

 Ah… nevermind. Found out myself after actually exploring the site…

While I will will agree SVC has glaring problems in gameplay (Shame on you, SNKP), I find it ironic Justin Wong (So called well respected pro) took time time to learn to play it well and won the tournament.:stuck_out_tongue:

I’d also like to mention that in the last game against Deity (Clarence) in Puzzle Fighter Tournament, Justin Wong slyly put his level on 1. All throughout the tounament folks played level 3 against 3. Justin put his on 1 without Clarence’s knowledge…Clarence continued to play on 3. Justin used this trick to win.

I feel that even although he was within the rules of the game it was poor sportmanship on his part…Justin knew he could not beat Clarence fairly, so thus he pulled a “BULLSHIT” move.

In my opinion, Clarence shoulda won the Puzzle Fighter tournament. Hell yeah, I fuckin’ said it.

Another example of the “Win any way possible” attitude that exist in gaming today that I refuse to be a part of. Using CVS2 glitches, use of “top tier” only characters, waiting at re-spawn points to shoot people on Halo, hitting opposing players start buttons during a game, etc…cheap “win at any cost” methods that should have no place in gaming. To me “gaming” means “fun”. If you have to seek out secret “bullshit” stuff to win a game then it ceases to be “fun”.:bluu:

Edit: The above is my own opinion, remember that.

More than likely, Robo, Justin played an overpowered character, such as Demitri, Geese, Zero, etc… Also, In a game that is so poorly done, an average character played by a expert player can be overpowered.

Jin, the diety never picks up new tricks…

I read that the hidden characters were all banned, Hollow. But I totally agree with Robo. I play for fun, but I also play MY WAY, with my own style. I’ve spoken with you, Hollow, Henry, and a few others about all my gripes with CvS. It’s very frustrating for me not being able to use the SNK grooves the way I feel they should be used, but oh well. I absolutely refuse to use the characters deemed as dominant or ‘top tier’ to get my wins. That’s with any game. But I won’t knock those that do. It’s just not in me to do Hibiki’s ducking hard punch/ standing hard punch, which ever one it is, against jumpers, for example, cause it’s not my way. Coincidentally, I avoid using her around Hollow, who’ll yell it in my ear to do so. I JUST CAN’T DO IT!!!

Exactly my point. Cheap “win at any cost” gameplay.

Yeah, you heard right. We never hear of you being in a top anything.

And thanks to everyone here for congradulating me.

Also, if it hadn’t been for Zero and his infinite then, I would have won the SNK vs. CAPCOM: Chaos tournament too. My Tessa was destroying EVERYONE, except for Zero. I even beat a GREAT Geese player with Tessa. Zero, is one of those characters that I can’t actually play against. Justin won the tournament with Terry Bogard. If it had came down to me(Tessa) vs. Justin(Terry) then, I would have won.

And ROBOTRON, you’re right about the Puzzle Fighter. It took someting extra without my knowledge of to beat me. He was even having a hard time trying to beat me too 'cause he kept saying “damn”, and I knew he was frustrated. After he won, he didn’t even try to shake my hand when I tried to shake his. That was really lame but, oh well.

The ONLY reason Justin Wong won was because of the settings. The machine had a feature that the Wizzards machine didn’t. It had a “2 round” feature and a “game speed” setting, which goes from slowest to fastest(1 - 5). Nobody in the tournament knew that if you set your speed setting on 1 then, you also drop more blocks on your opponent’s side. Everyone in the tournament played on speed setting 3, except for Justin, he played on speed setting 1. I only really noticed the damage differance when he won the tournament 'cause I was droping WAY bigger blocks than he was and it hardly dealt any damage. Justin wasn’t hardly droping anything and he was sending alot of blocks on my side. He’d NEVER won if I had caught on to what he was doing in the beginning and set my speed setting on 1 as well. He didn’t truly beat me. So, if I didn’t beat him then, NOBODY at Wizzards wouldn’t have came close to beating him.

Guess the hidden characters weren’t banned, after all…:lame:

Its one thing to not use a character, its another to not use them to their full potential. I myself always forget to use her ducking Fierce as AA, but I won’t knock others for not using it. I good move is a good move, regardless.
I don’t even knock anyone for using Top tier characters. My beef is with ppl who ONLY play toptier characters, and think they are sweet as hell. I was glad to see Best come to his sense in the past year or so. You came a long way from how you used to be. He simply realized his skill level can and has gone beyond winning with Only Top characters…

I wouldn’t yell in your ear. I don’t pay that much attention to your fighting style…

Sorry to hear about that BS, Clarence. I knew the OD would rep MI to the fullest. Damn good job, Diety. My girl consistently calls you her Diety, and I’d like to publicly thank ya for bringing her to me. Good looking. Also, when I see you, I’m gonna kick you in the shin for the hell of it.

Ummm sorry dog, I was top 5 the MW in T4 in 2001 and I placed top 10 in TTT tournaments at tournaments equal to Capcom’s MWC… try again :lame:

PS: You aint that good at Puzzle Fighter, anybody at Wizzards coulda won that shit easy if you got second

Ok Uber.

More MWC gripes…

Also, it was my understanding the tournament was stacked against anyone who was not a well known pro (someone correct me if I am wrong).

What I mean is, the well known pros like Justin, Ricky, etc. were put into the late brackets so that they played last…in other words, the lesser knowns and unknown players that attended never got to play the pros in the earlier brackets. This allowed the pros to watch and see all of the other players tactics and strategies prior to having to play them themselves.

In my opinion this is an unfair advantage granted to the pros and borderline cheating.

I also understand that most of the pros would not play anyone in casual play b4 the tournament began, thus hiding thier skillz.

To me this is poor sportsmanship.

Now the above rant will make sense to some of you and maybe urge the tournament host will change the rules. (like a lottery for brackets)

To others the above rant will appear as sour grapes from a person who has lack-luster skillz in fighting games. I really don’t care, I never wanted to be a star in the video game world anyway, just a lover of the hobby…but I’ll tell you this…Justin Wong and his crew of tournament lackies don’t have a cent of MY $money$ jingling in their pockets.

Someone tell Juan he’s going to need a new HDD for this computer, as the current one’s FT’s are resident in unwritable bad clusters.

robotron…

dunno which tournament you are talking about…

but in the cvs2 tournament… the first match of the day was alex valle vs someone, second one was justin wong vs someone, third match was john choi vs someone. next one was ricky ortiz vs someone.

They did most of second round of the winners brackets before they even did the losers bracket. I think most of the winners bracket was done first. And most of the time, if I remember correctly, they played the top players (number 1 seeds) as the first people to play. On top of all this I never did see Justin Wong bothering to watch anyone play except Ricky Ortiz and John Choi. So I got no clue where you are coming from if you are talking about CvS2.

As far as when people play, and all that stuff. Thats just how shit goes. I had Ricky Ortiz coaching someone from California while we were playing… I thought it kinda sucked cuz he was able to pick up and notice stuff the guy wasn’t doing, or was doing that was getting him hit. But shit happens. Hell everyone was coaching people.

The only beef I had was with random shitty events like an MvC2 5on5 taking priority over the actual tournaments. I mean I don’t remember seeing any of the things you saw, in CvS2 at least.
