No plans to get cvs?

Awesome to hear; I know I’ll be spending most of Thursday evening there - this week is the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco at the Moscone Convention Center, which is right next door, so it’ll probably see some decent traffic from out-of-towners (like myself) this week.

hey guys I’m here for GDC and I wanna get some good comp in at marvel, if anyone knows anyone… PM me if interested! I only got Thursday and Friday left!!

GGs on Thursday night. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten to play 3S against anyone, so it was fun breaking out pink Dudley again. New Tilt >>> old Portal-1.

Cool, they have 3s there now? CVS2???

kudos to u guys for having girl marvel players LOL! (even tho I think they were just there for wondercon). GGs to everyone I played @ marvel tho!

Introductions, Please?

Hello everyone on SRK.
My name is Brian and I am the General Manager of the Metreon Tilt. Please come and introduce yourself to me as a member of the SRK community. Here’s a little about myself:

I have been in the arcade business probably longer than most of you have been playing (since 1994) and I am a former (reformed?) fighting game player. My favorite games as a child were R-Type, Rolling Thunder, Tetris, Yiear Kung Fu and Karate Champ. I stopped playing for a while but came back to arcades as a worker when Mortal Kombat appeared on the scene. I played many 2D and 3D fighters until a few years ago when I lost interest.
So that means I understand the need for reliable controls. I will endeavor to keep everything in my store in good condition but I need your help. I don’t play much anymore and therefore don’t know when there is a problem. That’s where you come in. When I know there is an issue with the controls, I’ll fix it. However, I am the only person in the gameroom who can fix evertything, so my time is spent all over the place. This explains why the joysticks were bad a few weeks back. I’m just one person and my employees have limited abilities, and don’t necessarily fully understand what it takes to have good controls.

With that said, I may not be checking this board as often as I should, so that’s why you need to talk to me in person. I’m there everyday and will address your concerns as quickly as I can. I’m the guy with the tattoos.

Now some news.
I am indeed trying to get a CVS2 but they are difficult to acquire. Not many out there, but there seems to be a good and vibrant Capcom scene at this location and I will do my best. If it can be had, it will be here.

When we opened, I was very hands-off with the fighting games to see what kind of “crowd” they attracted. This is a major downtown location, and I was afraid of an unsavory element. I must say, I have been pleasantly surprised that we have had no trouble whatsoever in that area. So you have my full support. I am now even willing to talk about tournaments.

Tournaments

I am willing to discuss with someone from the community about running tournaments. I have run them before, but cannot do so here. I simply do not have the time. But if an honest person steps forward to take charge, we can make this happen. And I mean HONEST. Any hint of unfair practices or the like and that will be the death of tournaments. I don’t want to be associated with lying or cheating or improper seeding or favoritism of ANY kind. It’s all about fair competition.

Discuss.

Oh, and we’ll always be a “tourist arcade.” Nothing is going to change that. The tourists make it possible for us to stay in business, not the fighting gamers (no offense, but that’s reality). But we will listen and try our best to keep ALL our games in fine working condition, that includes fighting games.

Thank You.

Good deal.

So…what games do you actually have right now, fighting or otherwise?

Also, what are the money makers for your location? This tends to foreshadow the success of an arcade, depending on regional demographics, etc. My concern is that we’ll try to keep this place running for the fighting game scene, but if the main financial support for the place isn’t keeping up we’re all out of luck.

We all appreciate your efforts in accomodating the fighting game crowd.

Leezy is so nice~

to everyone but me… =(

please please please get CVS2.

Leezy,

We have too many games to list but, if you’ve been here since we opened, you’ll know our money makers are redemption games. Several of our ticket games make more money than all the fighters combined. So that should give you an idea where our priority lies. But, as I said, this Tilt will address all types of customers needs. I know some people have negative criticisms about Tilt’s around the country and some of it has been deserved but some has not. Do not pre-judge us based on past experiences, please. As I said, I am a life-long gamer and understand the needs of the competitive gaming community.

haunts,

I am trying. If I get one, it will probably come from somewhere in Socal. There seem to be more units south of us.
