Rust In Peace, Peter Steele.
Fell in love with this song instantly just yesterday when my friend introduced me to it, now Iâm going to cover it with friend =)
Ya, Diamond Head are pretty good. They were a huge influence on American heavy metal.
if you like black metal raw
Iâve been really deep into Dio, Judas Priest, and Lizzy Borden recently. Dio and Priest obviously need no more accolades, but Iâve been listening specifically Dioâs later albums, of which my favorites are Strange Highways, Magica, and Master of the Moon, and Priestâs 70s albums, the best being Sin after Sin and Stained Class.
Lizzy Borden has been a revelation - their output is so damn good. Love You to Pieces is a speed metal classic with literally no skippable tracks, The Murderess Metal Show might be even better (who releases a live album after only one studio album?!) and contains a cover of Live n Let Die years before GnR did it. Menace to Society is solid no frills metal but not as good as LYTP but then they release a masterpiece, Visual Lies, which is less speed and more theatrical/commercial without being any less weird, dark, or metal. They follow that up with what also may be called their masterpiece, Master of Disguise, a Phantom of the Opera-inspired concept album with full orchestra that is like the good version of Use Your Illusion (and once again beating GnR to the punch). Then they sat most of the 90s out, returning with Deal with the Devil which took an ill-advised turn into then-popular 90s metal industrial/sludge/nu/etc territory, so the less said about that the better. I was shocked then when I picked up their last album, 2006âs Appointment with Death, and found it to be an amazing return to form, like theyâd picked up right where they left off with Visual Lies/MoD, keeping the strong songwriting of those while bringing back some of the thrash from the first two albums. Itâs a great album from top to bottom and itâs a shame it has been 8 years now without a follow-up.
Went back to Immortal tâother day, theyâre too fucking good.
First time listening to Deletere, pretty good!
some thrash from Texas!
Arcturus has released a new album, Arcturian

Gruesomeâs cover of Black Magic

The cast of GRUESOME, the Schuldiner-hailing collective featuring members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation and Derketa, today untethers a very special cover of Slayerâs âBlack Magic.â The bandâs latest reconfiguration of the old-school appears on the deluxe digital edition of the bandâs Savage Land full-length.
âWe chose our cover tunes the same way we tried to write the album,â relays guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey. âWe just did what Chuck [Schuldiner] would have done. Death was never a band particularly known for their cover song repertoire, but they did occasionally close their set with a rendition of âBlack Magicâ and itâs a cover that dates as far back as an old 1984 Death/Mantas rehearsal, so we felt it would be appropriate. We were considering âThe Exorcistâ by Possessed, since Death started recording a cover of it during Individual Thought Patterns, but since [GRUESOME guitarist] Dan [Gonzalez] is in Possessed, it was a bit weird. Again, we tried to approach the song as Death doing a Slayer cover, so⊠hopefully we came close to the mark.â
edit: didnât know this forum allowed soundcloud embeds, cool!
