I don’t think it was ever implied that any and all conflict stopped for all time.
Yeah the Metal Gear world is chaotic, he took down the head honchos but at the end of the day other groups are probably in conflict to take that top spot. This game is so sick in every way.
What Snake did was remove the grip that the Patroits had over the world. Now things are “back to normal” so to speak. No more ID tagged weapons and everyone being connected. Now you need to actually become a cyborg for all that (or at least that’s what I’m getting from Rising).
While getting rid of The Patriots was the right thing to do, I would imagine the world became worse with their leaving. Things always get worse before they get better. As said there’s probably a power vacuum just waiting for some asshole to fill it.
And that’s why we need a new hero to rise to the challenge. To take up revengance for those who cannot.

I’m playing through the MGS series again to calm the fuck down until TGS2012, I already bodied MGS1 and I’m almost near the middle of MGS2, currently at the shell 1 - 2 connecting bridge. Now…I know It’s been a min since I played MGS2 (2 1/2 years) so I know I’m a little rusty, but gah dayum… this fucking Harrier Jet is pissing me off! I don’t remember Vamp flying that shit at mach speed like he on some Tom Cruise shit, and THE FUCKING HIROSHIMA BUG GOT ME THREE TIMES! Real talk, fuck that nigga Ace Combat Vamp! I just wanna see a sexy ass robot jump out the water and catch a Harrier Jet with it’s mouth cannon, then looks at Raiden and tell him to “hold my dick” as it land…yes land on top of water and fuck everything up.:eek:
Also, the part before the Harrier Jet boss fight where you must deactivate all that damn C4.:bluu: yeah, took me a long ass time to remember there’s one above my head.

MGO was a ton of fun. Team sneaking matches probably some of the most fun I had in a online tps game. Then the hackers arrived and started making games no fun to play. I couldn’t even hop back in after a few months because the updates moved slower then a snail. Hopefully the next MGO wont suffer the same problems.
MGO1 was fun. MGO2… 
wow lovin the idea of a “K9” companion lol. I thought MkII in MGS4 was one of the coolest parts of that game, and seems like the doggie would provide a similar experience.

Yeah, closure for Snake but not the rest of the world. There’s still a lot shit that needs to be dealt with and that the people have to overcome. On top of that, there’s a HUGE power vacuum left in the wake of the Patriots’ destruction, one that has to be filled and will be, violently. The world is nowhere close to peace, and war will still ravage it.
there is still plenty of opportunities for storytelling in the MGU without rehashing solid snake/big boss/the boss. the best part about ending one chapter is that another can begin, without tarnishing the past.
Yes lets not compare real life to a game series that goes out of it’s way to make social commentaries on the real world and real world conflicts. :rolleyes:

To be fair he does get a cybernetic body and a pretty sweet robot dog-thing out the deal. That has to be way cooler than Rose and their random kid.
Well I feel bad for him because him being dragged into this has to be result of two things. Either a, something happened to his family thus forcing him back into this and making this personal or b, the good guys (whomever they may be right now) realized that without Snake, Raiden is pretty much the last line of defense and the hero of Earth now so they might drag him away from his loving family to save some asses.
Either way, he got screwed.
