No. I hope it’s a game about Cyborg Raiden. An established character with established superhuman abilities capable of doing crazy shit. Why would you want him neutered as soon as we get our hands on him just so he’s in line with Old Snake? That’s stupid. He’s not Snake, there’s no reason to force him into that box.
I like Platinum Games and their action titles because they have proven they can make action games unique. All I’m saying is that they can utilize gameplay elements from MGS and realize them in an action title and the game could be better because of it.
Oh, so you want the slightest step up from a musou game, those dreadful Ninja Gaiden games.
I’m not saying I’d like it to play exactly like the other MGS games. There would really be no point in making another one. What I am saying is that a straight up hack-n-slash action would be a huge waste of potential.
Even just essentially speeding up the sneaking changes the game enough. Raiden has superhuman agility, so why not utilize that beyond doing super sentai flips between swinging away like a spaz? Let him dash between cover until he gets close enough to use that blade, drop down from heights, scale walls, and make huge leaps. Just however it works, change the way you approach threats.
Except again, there’s no reason for him to sneak around.
Hell they’ve even made a point of saying before, in the MGS series, you snuck around because if spotted you would be completely outgunned and killed quickly. But now, due to Raiden’s power the ENEMY is in that spot. They must sneak around because if discovered Raiden will lay waste to them.
The only way they could make Raiden sneak around and not kill everything is if they have someone captive that, if Raiden is spotted, will be killed no matter what.
I thought MGS was all about the story anyways? the whole “nukes are bad” etc etc
At this point, the message is now "Raiden cuts a fucking nuke in half mid-flight."
Or even better: “Too many ultra cyborg ninjas running around cutting muthafucka up, and it’s WRONG” (just like that one trailer’s song).
Unless your Raiden. Then you cut THOSE fuckers up and MAKE IT RIGHT.

If you want to ambush people you can, the last trailer showed that. So I’m not even sure what you’re bitching about at this point.
The general consensus is that Raiden should be ridiculously overpowered, not care about how he approaches threats, and straight up murder everything. Sounds like a musou game.
When he effortlessly dismantles a Metal Gear Ray, there’s no way he can be anything BUT ridiculously overpowered.
If they were really MGS purist, they would know when the word after Metal Gear is different, it’s going to be a different game.
Metal Gear is top down, MGS is the 3D Tactical Espionage Action, Metal Gear Ac!d is a card game, and Metal Gear Online is an online shooter. Anyone thinking MGR is suppose to be MGS is an idiot.

I can’t wait for ZOE HD, but I’ll be a little upset if there’s no extreme mode since the US PS2 version of ZOE 2 doesn’t have it. I guess MGS-R demo is extreme mode.

I think the game looks awesome and all… But didn’t Snake save the world at the end of MGS4? I don’t know how I feel about all this.
