Portable Ops isn’t canon. The story of PW and existing lore don’t line up with PO.

Sorry homie but portable ops was officially stated is cannon by kojima himself many times. All the events in PW are a direct effect of PO. Apparently some MG fans have said Nulls storyline conflicts with some of Gray fox’s origin. This is something Kojima will have to publicly address himself.

I don’t blame you since I come across this belief almost every time I mention PO. If you ever get a chance play PO when you can it’s a good game.

It is not listed in the MGS timeline

http://www.konami.jp/mg25th/truth/

Not canon

Kojima Productions podcast says it’s cannon.

http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/radio/the_report/the_report_122.mp3

They say it’s cannon but is considered as cannon on the level of MGR. Not part of the official timeline but is 100% cannon.

Edit: Also there are PO stills in MGS4 cutscenes.

You can instigate Irvings (Moo cow bipedal creatures) into dizzy by running around or having your back to them from afar. They will charge at you and when you block OR parry their tackle it will go into a triangle button prompt to mash. Once that is done they will be dizzy and you can go for a QTE finish. I’ve practiced it enough to purposely instigate this whole scenerio, its much quicker and should help you get golds easily. The same tactic can be used for Water Striders, having your back turned from full screen distance and you parry (don’t think block is acceptable for this enemy) their tackle. This will get you a button prompt for an automatic finish.

Right now I’m trying to beat VR mission 17 and if you parry mastiffs drop kick or of the wall dive it goes into a dizzy right away. Which is weird since I know that if you parry the drop kick in campaign this doesn’t happen. You’d have to parry the attack multiple times because they have a ton of armor.

I think that’s the one on Revengeance difficulty right? You die in one or two hits? In Revengeance, your parry counter is SUPER powerful. It one shots alot of enemies.

Oh wow thanks for the heads up. An interesting premise to make the parry more effective, I can see what AlphaZero was saying with the similarities with the NG counter.
A little detail about executions some people may not have realized, even when you dizzy an opponent, sometimes you can’t execute them right? That’s because you need to have a full fuel gauge to do an execution.

They also have a lot of references to PO, KP just messed up with some of the story details with null specifically. It doesn’t take the fact that Kojima states it as cannon and so does the official KP podcast. Not to mention the tons of references to it in PW and the stills existing in MGS4 cinematics.

http://www.kjp.konami.jp/gs/hideoblog_e/2010/07/000221.html

Official blog entry to the podcast and the date should be there. Honestly MG isn’t the first franchise in history to have inaccuracies in canonical material. Star Wars is full of it but it doesn’t change the fact that it is cannon.
I’m pretty sure you can do executions regardless of the amount of meter you currently have

It doesn’t matter if it was in MGS4 because they’ve since ignored it. There’s nothing in PW that supports PO other than dates and events that were established in MG time line already. There’s 0 mention of the MGs from PO, no mention of the PO-specific people. The game can be ignored because the MG timeline ignores EVERYTHING about it. It contains 0 significant events.

In PO, Ocelot shoots the DCI and Ocelot says something about finally meeting in person since this is who he spoke with in MGS3. Then why can’t you execute dizzied enemies sometimes? It might be that you need the meter to be at least blue, but I know there are situations you can’t execute when you should be able to, even on weak cyborgs

I tried shooting him with a rocket launcher but nothing happened

According to the strategy guide you have to shoot him with 2 rockets. This is on normal difficulty, so it’ll probably take more on higher difficulty settings.

And regarding executions, Gasaraki is correct. Your meter needs to be atleast blue to be able to perform the execution. I noticed the same thing.

My friend just fired this. He hasn’t seen any trailers for the game aside from the ones back when the games was still called Metal Gear Solid Rising.

I hope he brought a change of underwear.

Ah, ok then.

But sometimes, if you stunned them and you see the execution promo (Y+B/Triangle+Circle) if you go to blade mode and go out regardless of the amount of meter you have you can’t execute them :(

Listen to the codecs. The prologue body was standard cyborg parts, which they budgeted for the bodyguard mission. After Desperdo struck, they had to go state of the art, outfit Raiden with the best equipment. That body is Maverick equipment.
Not really, the game speaks for itself. Both games have the subplot of BB getting over The Boss’s death, if he got over it in PO why is he doing it in PW again?

You can say what you will about the voice of God needing to say it plainly but PW already says it.
well it was state of the art military grade in 2014, it’s just “standard” for high end military in 2018 I guess lol
