the Midwest hasn’t banned MK. maybe some small tournament banned him once or something, but as a whole, the region is not in support of banning him

Counter-argument: Most people that play All-Brawl aren’t that good. I see most of the All-Brawl players like I see most college groups that play Brawl every Saturday night while ordering pizza and discussing how Pikachu was too good in each Smash game. In other words, 95% of them AREN’T THAT GOOD. I mean, look at this thread. No offense to some of you, but you’re saying “Man, Metaknight isn’t THAT good, I beat MK players constantly” when, really, the MK players near you suck horribly. Find better MK players or teach the ones you do play against to quit playing like shit…it’ll help everyone out in the long run.
It’ll be a long time and a lot of work before you get solid, near-definitive All-Brawl tiers/matchups, and with the small amount of people that All-Brawl has I don’t know how viable that is. That’s seriously like me saying that Twelve is high tier in 3rd Strike because I can beat anyone in Iowa with him. I’m not dumb enough to think such a ridiculous claim just because of the results in one small and very non-representative group.

Actually, I wasn’t even talking about my personal experiences, just pointing out the obvious facts of what All-Brawl does to MKs game. No one is as strongly affected negatively overall by the simple idea that being a walking hitbox is bad in All-Brawl. This makes his biggest strength a fairly scary thing to abuse. That alone gives him a kick down from “I’m GOD” to anywhere between “I’m something to fear!” and “I have to try to win now!”
Will it completely negate his ability to maintain top of the top tier? Dunno, but I’d say losing that strength alone makes a number of characters viable again in his presence.
If MK gets nerfed in all-brawl then so does everyone else.
ouch? I’d like to think that I’m at least decent in this game…dunno how far my skills have rusted since I barely have time for anything else currently though.
I’m just sayin’, man. Wasn’t intending any offense by it, but really, Metaknight is a broken whore. It’s like playing Yun but making it even easier and giving him Chun’s b+FP and cl.HK. And if the scene doesn’t have a Metaknight player doing good even when the skill level between both players is pretty even, then that scene needs to step things up a bit before they can say “Metaknight isn’t THAT good”.
And with All-Brawl, let me clarify: I’m talking more about the skill level of the people on here, **including **me. Like I said with the 3rd Strike comparison, I know that I and the rest of the scene where I live isn’t amazing (but we CAN hold our own when we travel), so when I rack up wins with Twelve I’m pretty sure that it’s the exception and not the norm. It’s a small group of players and the skill level isn’t quite there to say, “Hey, Metaknight isn’t broken in All-Brawl.”

i hope that this whole MK is broken/better than everyone whine goes away with time. Whenever i see an MK get beaten it is usually because the other player outplays him and outsmarts the person playing MK. He doesn’t look like a beast. he looks quite normal. So i think with time as everyone get s better, then MK won’t be that big of a deal. And if that doesn’t happen. Maybe Nintendo will nerf him in ssb: revenge.
Ummm… are you insane? Snake and Metaknight gain way more from item play and the banned stages than most of the cast. It doesn’t bring the beast down at all. Metaknight is one of the fastest characters on the ground so he can get items easily with that combine with his ability to somewhat rush. Metaknight’s tornado breaks through many item tactics that can slow down other characters. On top of that Metaknight has great multihit moves good for breaking smashballs and taking them and dragoon parts away from the other player. Metaknight also does great on a lot of the banned stages since he is fast, has great air game and has high priority. He can easily abuse any little issue that those stages have to offer way more than other characters. Don’t try to pin this problem on the fact that people play without items and certain stages.
Furthermore, I dont think Metaknight is that big of a deal and definitely shouldnt be banned. Sure hes fucked up and makes the game boring but he definitely isn’t fucked up enough to deserve a ban.
If by vids you’re talking about the ones that are up on youtube that were posted like…a month or so after Brawl came out…then I’m gonna lol at that. I haven’t been able to play brawl and put any new vids up for comparison on how I played when the game was first out…to how I am now. Don’t judge how I play based on the old videos. I don’t think I’ll be able to get any more vids up either by the end of this semester since I’m so busy with school work…Do you even play online anymore or are you staying away from that?
I can’t play online. And I don’t take online very seriously if there is 20 frames of lag lol.
I was expecting that answer from you…I’m not talking about playing seriously though…just period. That’d be the only way currently I could show you how I play now in comparison besides sending replays.
Well, to nitpick a bit here, the same is true of Eddie in Accent Core. Has no losing matchups, just some even ones.
The difference is that Eddie doesn’t beat anyone for free, either. But still, a character with no disadvantages doesn’t necessarily HAVE to ruin a game.
Just a minor aside, though. Brawl sucks, close this forum, quote if you’re down.
