SNK games are pretty much dead to me until UM comes out for the simple reason that there are no good home ports that are easily accessible for the worthwhile games, and the only arcade around here has the timer set on MVS 98 so fast that ALL of the matches end on time so I refuse to go.
Wait until UM or a US version of MIRA to try to spread the games… I will get back into SNK hardcore if there is a good US home port of UM or an arcade cabinet around, otherwise I am just sticking to ST where there is actual good competition…
I only said to ban Kula and Gato on the same team to throw the idea out there because not many people have been harping for XI in this thread, and I’m guessing the over dominance of two characters on every team is a reason for that. I never said to ban the characters themselves. Again I haven’t played XI in a tourney (but don’t get me wrong Havoc, I have played XI. Alot.). It was just a stupid idea. Forget it.
Because he needs to post it in another thread to be honest…If this is gonna get into a why should be ban such and such thread etc then why bother?

This thread is not about Dark Geese or how many games he can play at once. Stop touting victories that never happened. Waku Waku 7 will never be a draw, ie. there should be a tighter focus. **Quality new games won’t receive the attention to expand the scene when promoted alongside old shit that 5 people care about and the rest take as jokes. **
I stopped posting in the NGBC thread recently because people keep bitching about BIG, I detail valid counter-matchups outling specific elements, and instead of a gameplay discussion there’s just more bitching. I posted the same shit over and over in that thread because people somehow manage to browse a forum without actually reading antyhing.

Everyone else; DG is the ‘SNK Boss’ because he stepped up and tried to promote it. Its not an elected position. I’m one of the types of players who loves to play everything, and I love to run tournaments. I’m level headed, i have the experience, and I have a history of supporting SNK (and others) at my events.
My problem; no money to travel. I can afford to hit Vegas for Evo World, and travel in carpools to drivable tournaments, and thats it. I can’t be at every major hyping SNK. DG can. But Geese knows I’ll criticize him. I’ve told him that he doesnt have a priority list on his games, so the important ones sometimes get left out because we ran out of time playing other games. I’ve told him that he runs his tournaments too slow, by allowing players to duck out on him without real reason.
I don’t even know where I’m going with this now, haha. But I agree that a big part of shaking the negitive image for SNK is to work with Lukas on the way he represents himself. He does real real good when he runs these events at every major and gives out strats, advice, primers, etc to anyone who asks. Its just sensitive issues like these that aren’t working.
I would like to thank everyone for their participation in this discussion though. I’m sure Josh will say the same. Havoc, especially, you are not falling on deaf ears. Trust me, man.
Trust me I hear yah Keits…he aint fallin on deaf ears either…Hence I have taken action…but you fail to see that this really goes back to the whole pre-NEC8 thing IMO…he can argue it does or doesnt I dont care…
Like saying Steve H sucks and all that other stuff I just dont agree with…he was one of the main precipitators of the whole thing…so its not just a random person coming in offering advice…

How about using 1-2 of those days to heavily promote known, played games, albeit with small scenes, by having constant sessions to further the play of those interested, extend knowledge, and hopefully garner new players.
Then, take those few focused games and run a tournament the next day. Maybe even hyping it up with some sort of incentive like we do here. Examples: Banning the best players from using the tops, the best players not entering the tournament but then playing the winner for added cash bonus at no risk to him, etc, etc.
What happens instead? SNK tournaments are run with a shitload of games that very few care about, even less know how to play, and the one person who does beats everyone. Then, the actual good, accessible games, get lost in the shuffle. People then think the community, play, and games themselves are poor because of the actions of a few noticeable others and the games chosen to promote.
Where is the NGBC NEC footage? Wait…we got Breakers and Waku Waku.

Which is fine…that means we focus around the big games…and let the others for casuals and let people get time to play the big games…I’m down for that!!! As long as I can still get as much exposure as possible…I’m fine…
The big thing with me is exposure…even if we only run like 4 tournies at NEC8…we got film of more games than that…and thats what I am shooting for really…

XI, 98 (geese caught me), NGBC, Garou. They really seem to be the big 4.
Anything else gets run after.
It’s like having say, a tourney for Power Instinct 2 or Cyberbots at Evo to have games like Breakers and WHP being played as mains.
Honestly, I think NGBC and XI are higher priority due to accesibility of port. UM should join them when it comes out. If everything can be run on an import PS2- getting this won’t be too hard.
