Message to SNK Heads: STOP BEING SCAREDY CATS!

NGNT 4 proves my point. One game, focused community, a solid scene developed.

tougeki and evolution both promote like eight games at a time, and i’m really not seeing how the level of the players in the games they promote has supposedly “gone down”, in accordance with your idea here
especially since the top twenty or so players in both events have often been the usual suspects
no one is saying one person should learn everything, josh is saying each community for each game should step their game up

NGNT4 only proves your point if you continue to assume there is such thing as ‘the snk community’ (or even ‘the capcom community’).

Some of the best MIRA gaming in the US available in DE and MD and you ignore it…

The truth Josh I agree 299%…As I told people and STILL tell them…I CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH.

So stop being lazy, get to work…and help me do what I am doing. Stop waiting for me to do everything…I can only do so much…What happens if something comes up and I cant make it to a certain event??

“Oh noes what are we gonna do???” :wtf: RUN IT IN MY ABSCENCE.

Take initiative like Josh and Keits did with WHP, Ghostpilot is doing with RB2, Noc etc are doing with Garou, Kyokuji with Last Blade 2, Emil etc with 98/2k2, and other things…this helps the overall agenda I want ANYWAY and makes it 500X easier for me to promote and take care of the big goals…

Neither sbo nor evo are trying to create a scene from the ground up. They exist as the ultimate venue for games that already have scenes, they bring together players of different games. That’s a great thing, but it has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. Each of the games at sbo and evo built itself up on its own, at different times.

um i don’t ignore it… i’ve played almost everytime you want to play (becuase of tournies i ran or were in )…or anyone else…first i don’t have the game… second… im all about doing tournies for it and shit… so let’s see it!!.. and third… since christmas is over now… i do have time to play it… and yes i’ve seen it in MD…that’s fine and dandy… the thing is i play in alot of tournies… so i apologize if i couldn’t get to them. if you can get muthafuckas in for tourney… or big ass gathering of mira ( cuse i know we do it here in DE alot… under the radar of SRK) then let’s do it…

I would also like to add you pussies need to stop hatin’ and stop snitchin’.

Shiki, just know that I’m watching, I’m back, and the trolls(as well as some threads) will be getting the SK treatment.

Well, once I’m done playing Tekken 6.

well as far as ss5special tournaments in usa the time has way passed, But i will tell you there are actull solid ss6 players all over the united states. We finished a onlien tournament for ssvsp in december which will probably be the last. Its just there has never been any huge samsho tournament in america ever. If you make snk games a side attraction you will never get many players. In the ss6 evo stuff i have seen some of the poeple in the tournament dont even know all the buttons. Why would any one from any country wanna jion a tournament like that. Which brings back to the piont of speading SNK games too far, which i think if you want any of the games to catch on this is not a good way of going about it.

So i would have to say that SNK players of SRK should focuss on a few games and maybe become good enough that poeple from other countrys would wanna come here and play them.

RB2 has a huge european following just like samsho, and i dont think many play.

I thought adding garou was a good idea, It still has solid following in asia. Even though lastblade2 most say is broken it has a pretty big usa following. I really dont know what to say being i dont play many diffrent games.

Bottom line is poeple are gona play the games they like, in usa most poeple dont like SNK games. One reason being a neogeo is so hard to get. second being all the good SNK games are older. So i would go with newer SNK games that are attainable easily.

Just play the game

If you don’t like it, you can play something else

yeah!

Ben-Ra, I would just like to clarify something now before we go any further:

Are you saying that Dark Geese shouldn’t run 5-6 games at his tournaments?

Or are you saying that we should not independently promote & develop scenes for our game of choice?

Evo is a joint effort from the various Capcom communities along with the GGXX/Smash/Tekken communities - independent units forming a coherent whole. What I am saying is that SNK needs to become something similar. Dark Geese running & promoting everything under his own umbrella hasn’t worked; the games need to develop their own identities, which some of us have been working on.

The reason I talk about Naruto is that it had far more going against it than the Neo games do. Free online play is SO strong for both drawing in new players and raising the overall level of the community, and actually being able to win with more than like 4 characters is always a nice bonus. Now we just need offline tourneys & a dash of drama…

And actually, I already did answer that 98 is the most reliable SNK game out there. It has stood the test of time and then some, it gets the most worldwide play of anything on the Neo, and GGPO will boost the American audience.

And to m216:

Yep, I mentioned some of this in a previous post. Special probably won’t take off in the US, and Tenka might once it comes out here.

I think I might have already said this, but it seems to me that RB2 has been getting more online play than Garou as of late, and it has also gotten interest with things like the NEC exhibition matches. And hardly anyone in America plays Last Blade, IIRC.

I actually think that a lot of the older Neo games could have potential, if GGPO adds them…

That was alot of reading to catch up on.

We’re not really getting anywhere. How about we go one game at a time - instead of just yelling out titles - and decide if it’s going to be included. Then once we have a list everyone can agree on, we narrow it down even further, decide rules, and so forth.

SNK is so diverse that it really is hard to pin it down to a couple of games like Capcom and GG. It’s harder but not impossible!

Okay, so first. Why not throw out the game that’s been mentioned a hundred times? Garou: Mark of the Wolves. Do you enjoy this game or not? Be honest. Do you see it as a viable tourney game?

I am not a fan of Garou, but it does seem to be the most widely-played SNK title after the KOF series. However, the US is a different story - this past year, Evo World was the only event where we were able to run a tournament for it. I have no idea if there really are this few players here or what. It would certainly be worth adding if there were…

Well it might be widely played, but it won’t be enjoyable if everyone plays it only because everyone else plays it. And yea, I’m pretty sure we’re all US here. This thing will be held in the US, right?

An SNK focused event would be amazing. I go to evo to play capcom games, everything else is of very low priority. It is hard for me to be focused on 4 tourney games already and the addition of 6 other SNK games for me to be “tournament ready” for is asking a bit much.

Garou should be a definite choice, it’s probably the most widely agreed upon great SNK fighter. Run RB2 and KOF98 tournaments to back it up and gauge the popularity of other games in the casual room to determine the game to add next year.

As a non-SNK player, and somebody who has been critical of the SNK “community” recently, I’ve got a little bit to say.

I think the US SNK community is a joke because you guys play too many games, and you’re not even good at them.

If you guys focused on '98, NGBC, Garou, and maybe 1-2 other games, people might take you seriously enough to want to join in on the scene.

As it is, Breakers isn’t gonna draw anyone in. Sorry.

The games you guys do play look kinda silly. Maybe because they are silly… maybe because you guys aren’t that good. Who knows?

Also, a lot of you guys are weird… but everyone’s weird these days, so that’s probably not an issue for most people. That’s probably the biggest thing that might keep me from playing UM whenever it comes out… That’s just me though.

For the actual purposes of this thread… yo guys need to streamline and focus. That’s my take on it, anyway.

Josh, what I am saying is that a competitive scene cannot be created for 5-6 games simultaneously. If you look at the ngnt scene, ngnt is the primary game at all tourneys. Do they feature other games? Yes, however they are games that have their own scenes, and are not promoted by willvolution heavily. Dark Geese can run however many games he wants, but if none of them are perceived to be a primary or ‘serious’ game, people will be much less invested in what happens or develops.

Go ahead and promote your individual games. The problem is that both by previous association, and now by deliberate promotion by Dark Geese and others, snk gamers are perceived to be a single community. The result is that to those not in the community, especially those who might consider playing a game, it looks as though that community cannot settle on what game or games to promote. They see 5+ games being discussed with no real focus, and may think, not inaccurately, “they’re not serious about any of these games, this isn’t going anywhere.” All of the snk games are competing for the time and attention of someone who wants to be interested, and if there isn’t some radical streamlining, all of it will fail.

But yet you’re gonna say all that to me too right??? I dont need to focus…I can multitask…
