Actually if you read my post carefully, I asked if the snk leaders/directors (you , I suppose) intended on making a snk only event. 
I think that if given proper light and dedication (mostly numbers) are shown, snk games could be in the line up for evo or other larges tournaments. I think the community really dictates whether or not a game is present at evo. It could happen , the snk directors just have to keep pushin.

I have a different view.
Playing only to win means bitching when you get hit by infinites, when someone uses a ānon arcade exclusive characterā, when youāre hit by a banned moved from a legal character, when you get KOed by someone who used a ābossā character.
Playing only for fun means dicking around and wasting time, using taunts every five seconds, playing shit like mvc, not bothering to learn the mechanics of the game, not bothering with any strategies, not offering any kind of competition to your opponent.
Playing for fun and to win means doing all the good stuff. Thereās a definite middle ground there. Just because someone puts enjoyment over money doesnāt mean they donāt enjoy both. I like gambling as much as the next person, but I wouldnāt do it with something that I didnāt like doing. Winning is fun. Winning money is fun. Winning respect is fun.
Can we get back on topic? This thread isnt about āplaying to winā, and we have a multitude of other topics and even a full length novel about this subject to reference.

I still think the best thing you could do in this area is promote a regional tournament like FRXI, which seems to be more SNK-friendly then most majors, and make that the big tourney. It already is for some games.

Its about manning up. A large ammount of SRK tournament players (or forum goers) seem to have the mentality of the early 90s street fighter scene. They are ban happy and complain that everything is unfair. This being extended to a game that isnt even out yet is just retarded. We are discussing the fact that if we want SNK games taken seriously, we have to take THEM seriously.
And then a bunch of people said Last Blade 2 was a good game and were wrong.
Since only one person really answered my question, and this still seems the thread to ask it in, let me re phrase it. In two-three years, what game is going to grow larger and have a real scene, a scene that makes it worth spending time to master the game versus another like Melty Blood or something similar. I would like to pick up an SNK game in time for Final Round, on the other hand, I debate if I should spend time on other games that have a larger community right now, and more long term prospects.
Iām primarily a member and poster on neo-geo.com and help put together tournaments and social Neo geo gatherings in Minnesota, but come here for game play info and to see what my fellow MN 3s members are up toā¦
Problem #1 Game availability/cost of getting into the neo .
Neo fans are hard coreā¦ the price for a bare bones neo is still rather expensiveā¦ a system with no mods and one controller = $150 min, moded systems go for $300-$600ā¦
Games like MOTW go for $300 to $600 depending on US vs jp and condition. MOTW is a great game my personal favorite, but getting people into it is rather hard do to that games availabilityā¦ only other domestic release is on the DC and itās a āinferior portā and on another underrated dead systemā¦ there is the PS2 version, but not everyone like to import games for various reasonsā¦ Itās like DG has said forcing the game on peopleā¦ I do it ever time I go over to one of the SRK MN 3s get together and they all say the same thing āI really like the game, just never have the opportunity to play itāā¦
Sure there are other ways around itā¦ you could by a MVS Cab, MVS board and a supergun or have someone consolized your MVS board and get the MVS versions of the game for $50-$100, but then you have to deal with boot leg versions of the game floating around, space for the cab, and a few other thing and most people donāt want to do any of thatā¦
A lot of the Neo geo fans are very bitter and refuse to believe that anything that was made by SNK/Playmore is any good and donāt give anything new a chanceā¦
SS2 is the best SS game and they will never be able to top itā¦
KOF 98 is the best KOF game and they will never top itā¦ blah blah blah it all the sam
2k2 camp will say itās better, but tend to be more forgiving to 98 like someone else has statedā¦
Certain battles are never going to be one and not everyone is going to be 100% happy. You are just going to have to pick 3-5 primary games to focus on and then have two or three region specific games like you have talked about before

a four game ā¦ either a second KOF, a second SS or NGBC would probably be best ā¦ yeah people are going to be mad, but they always have the option to attend the tourney, bring what ever game they think is tops, and play people in itā¦ hell set up a side tourney providing there is enough interest.
At the MN Neo Gathering in two weeks we are having SS2, LB2, MOTW, Twinkle Star Sprites, and a Metal Slug X 1 credit runā¦ why? because those are the games we play up hereā¦ and that is what the demand is for. A lot of us love KOF 98, but I canāt get more than 3-4 people interested in playing a tourney so we donāt have itā¦ Yeah LB2 is broken and we are implementing the ban list, but itās what people want to play up here

Last Blade 2 is an excellent game. Itās just not a good tournament game.
I love the game a lot despite the fact I suck at it, but I have to admit that itās not really tournament playable. It has too many things going against it.
-All of the ports are TERRIBLE. Technically, even the original Neo-Geo version is a bad āportā. Thatās because half of the stages even in that version cause slowdown unfit for tournament play. The Neo-Geo simply wasnāt good enough to handle this game, period. Which is very unfortunate. Itās SNKās most beautiful game. If it could be re-made using the power of the Atomiswave or Taito, people would see that. Its animation is far smoother than Guilty Gear and hi-res LB characters and backgrounds would put the graphics of Arcana Heart to shame.
-A laundry list of bans. The game was rushed. It was simple as that. Too little testing, and too little time. Itās even worse because Last Blade was extremely balanced.
-Horrible timing. Released in late 1998. That should tell you everything. Never had a chance to sprout a following because it was buried under everything that was released in 1998ā¦KOF 98, Alpha 3, MvC, Tekken 3 (PS), Tekken Tag, Rival Schools, Real Bout 2ā¦

Dj, if people donāt like to import PS2 games, theyāre sure as hell not going to import Neo Geo games. Theyāre also not going to be able to play 98UM. An import PS2 costs around $180, or you can mod/swap magic for $30 - $50. PS2 Mark is about $24.90 on play asia, and SST is $29.90. Itās certainly not hard to do.
