Message to SNK Heads: STOP BEING SCAREDY CATS!

I’m not arguing about which games should or should not be played at tournaments, I just want to know, as an individual player, which game should I pick up that will have a large amount of competition and a decent lifespan. I only have time for one, since I already play Tekken, VF, 3S, and I’m working on CvS2 right now as well.

where I come from you actually play these games on the neo… I’m not saying that people have to go out and buy one I’m just pointing out that the part of the problem… If you want to play the best version of any SNK game that was released their MVS hardware you play it on the neo… not the port… I didn’t bring up any of the Atomiswave release, because the transfer over to the PS2 went quite well and people aren’t complaining about them like they do the Neo ports

I also pointed out that I primarily post on neo-geo.com and my friends that are avid players of SNK games don’t like 99% of the games SNKP have released… I can’t get a lot of interest in NGBC or KOF XI… there are people out there like this… a lot of them post on n-g.com and are great kof, MOTW and SS players…

Problem one was long enough and I hate long posts.

Well see whats your definition of a decent lifespan? Also whats your goal?

Do you want to be the best? Good? Average? Do you wanna catch a game in its beginning stages or work uphill on a game thats been out a while?

Theres more to the equation…if you answer these I can give you the best answers…

I always strive to be the best in any game I play. My goal would be to find a game where I can have solid competition to test myself against. I don’t really care about the stage the game is in, so long as it has a lifespan of 1-2 years left, so if I spend time on mastering it, I’ll be able to use the skills I gain.

MOTW

Agreed its has a respectable port (ps2) and its actually a good fucking game.

KoF98U should be a future one.

MOTW is the most under appreciated fighter in the US.

The let me offer a selection of games that fir this criteria-

KOF98…MOTW…KOFXI…NGBC… Breakers Revenge…
More will come to me but those are ones certainly for now that come to mind…

Alright, I’ll pick up MOTW. I always liked it, and if it has a scene, easy choice. Thank you all very much.

I’ll say it again, if someone wants to join the SNK scene, they ask what games they should practice and you hand back a list of 8 games nobody is going to be interested. This should be beyond obvious.

SNK scene is never going to be anything unless it is clustered around a few games. You can still have side tournaments and whatever for other games, but having 6 or 7 main games just does not work.

You really aren’t doing yourself any favors by actively discouraging people from getting interested.

And I will say this…

“KOF98…MOTW…KOFXI…NGBC” and Breakers Revenge

You telling me no one will be interested in these games???

I know they will better than you!

I dont get it why there is people that play games for fun and they feel good about themselves even when they get obliterated by someone else.

I thought DG wanted to create a scene for certain games that would allow a very tiny quantity of players to acquire high skills in those games, making them COMPETITIVELY AROUND THE WORLD.

Whats the point in being the best at game X in area Y, when a guy from area Z can beat the crap out of you.

Thats the reason why I retired from the oh long forgotten attempt to create a KOF USA scene called the K4s ( kforce ). Even if at a time I was considered one of the best kof 2002 players of the US, I didnt care about that. I didnt care if I could beat any player here in Socal at that game. I wanted to beat the japanese at EVO … but they were damn hard ( actually only RF played kof 2k2 at high level at that time ). I wanted to keep practicing more and more, but the so called scene that we had here just wanted to have fun and didnt care in trying to be THE BEST IN THE WORLD ( thats right, if not … then why do u play? … to have fun or to get praise from a group of nerds living whoknowshere/online ? ).

And for the guy that started this thread: So sad that he call SNK HEADS to a bunch of scrubs that just want to have some “fun” and meet new “friends” … awwwwwwww so sweet. The real pussies are the ones that dont want to improve their level of gameplay and dont take fighting games to a next serious worldwide competitive level.

K4

did you seriously just say you cant understand why people play games for fun?

The thread started is an snk player himself. I think yu misinterpreted the post, or didnt read it.

Whats up K4 how u been man??

I would love to make the US a force in SNK games overall…that is another big goal of mine…

But thats gonna take some time esp the more I travel and see what other countries have to offer on the SNK side of things…

What the hell is Breakers Revenge?

You tube it or get a rom. its one of the most accessable fighters snk has but together?

I love K4’s post…seriously spot on!

Dude, Lucas, you should really come up with a list that everyone has to coincide with instead of the other way around. Who gives a fuck if NC plays NGBC hardcore? If they’re devoted for the game they’ll go whatever tournaments you hold for the game, Evo or whatever. It’s not your job to cater to audience, it’s the audience’s job to show up to play. As much as people hate MB we’re already at the stage where people will gladly travel cross country for a tournament, even if it isn’t a major.

And to hell with giving other games exposure. I love Waku Waku 7, but that game should really be played at 4am in someone’s hotel room when the people playing are probably drunk off their ass or otherwise. Start pushing KoF 98, SS, WHP, and MOTW.

Lastly, start holding your own shit. Like now. Not at Evo, or the next major, just start running your own deal, locally, whatever.

Yea I just youtubed it, and it doesn’t look that great. I looked into that and Waku Waku, and neither one of them are actually SNK games - or have any ps2/xbox ports. Maybe I should rephrase: Why the hell is Breakers Revenge being pushed so much?

Do it. You’ll love it so much you’ll wish there was a scene for it, like the rest of us.
