This thread is designed to show people that the guys who’ve put much of their time and effort into this hobby ask for a little bit of respect from the guys who crawl on to their boat from the shores of mainstream success. It’s a pretty understandable response, and one you’ll see almost anywhere.
Of course, we’re still talking about a game where magical Japanese people shoot lightning kung fu at each other.
Hats off cool thread. Something I should have read before commuting social suicide on here a few days ago. I am not sayin some people don’t need to he a bit more tolerant, I just now I would have come across as a better scrub if I had read this thread first.
As per some other posters comments. This is the first forum I have been on where you really need to thoroughly search every topic and pray when you create the post you did not miss a previouse thread. If you did heaven help you. Lol
There is nothing wrong with bumping old threads up, as long as you’re contributing to it. I do it all the time if I’m looking for certain topics that’s already been posted. I always search before I make a thread. Chances are, the answer you are looking for has already been posted in another thread, it’s just tiresome to see the same threads over and over again, cuz new registers don’t really know how to use the search function properly.
Honestly, all and all, I generally don’t ever get these “douche bag” treatments, then again, I’m a moderator, but I lurk way more than I post. Look at my post history and you’ll understand what I mean.
This really is nothing compared to how SRK used to be back in 03-04, if you were new you’d receive way more harsh of a hazing than today, hell sometimes you might have even got a death threat
I didn’t get any hate from the old guys, rather the opposite, I got praised for being a moderately sane guy even though I came here in february with the worst rush of new SF4 players. Keeping a low profile and not starting dumbass threads is a good start on this forum. If the search doesn’t do it for you (and it won’t, seeing as it’s worse than google), just look through the subforums and browse threads and READ. Not just whine about something you can’t do that everyone else can do. Or give sound advice eventually.
And last but not least, this is the internet, don’t start frothing at the mouth at some random insult and start a flamewar. That’s the way to red bar faster than you can spell “sf4 sux i can’t do fadc!”
The only thing I really don’t like on this site so far is the rep system
Its ok when I used to say and do a lot of stupid and scrubby stuff in February, but now it just annoys me when I get down-repped for my opinion and other stupid stuff.
This mostly happens in the SFIV forum, like in the achievement thread, someone said “you get an achievement for never playing a shoto” so I said " So you get it when you die?"
I got down repped and called a scrub.
It doesn’t make me angry, it just makes me annoyed that people are like that.
“When it comes to anything Fighting Game Related, keep in mind that there are people on here who have forgotten more about fighting games than you will ever know. Post accordingly.”
You have no input on whether people will think you are a scrub or not. People may like you on here, people may not. That’s for them to decide, not you. Plus, it takes a lot longer than 8 months for someone to be “un-scrubbed” status by srk.
It comes with the whole, “it’s the internet” thing
One of the few 09’s that’re actually worth what they post is Kyle (that’s his actual tag). He did such a good job with contributing in the tech talk threads he became a mod shortly after registration. While most 09’s make threads that could easily be asked in a stickied sub forum thread but they think it’d be a great idea to suck up bandwith and start a new thread for no real reason.
And quit crying about rep. It has never meant anything and it never will and it shouldn’t be taken seriously. Ever.
The problem is: Your all fucken dicks when you should be having fun, discussing great SF games and how they have evolved through the ages.
P.S. Bison will teach you how to be a REAL man!
