Bellreisa! If you’re ever in Richmond, or looking for comp in this game HIT ME UP!
I would kill for some competition in ReACT. Maybe CvS2 and 3S and Garou too. =P
This post effin made my day. AX is looking to be much better than last year already. Anything I can help, let me know.
It would be great to play with anyone besides my friend.
I’m willing to play…I play like every game except SC2, and I haven’t started yet but I have some interest in EFZ (just have to get a copy of it now…)
but hit me up sometime and I’ll be up to play
btw, I’m planning on hopefully going to Anime Expo so maybe I’ll see people there?
P.S. anyone going here going to Evo?
Alright, I am leaving for Expo pretty soon (it’s going to be a long drive), so here it goes for those who will be in preregistration on Thursday and want some EFZ/ReACT matches:
I will likely be at the front of the line, considering that we are expected to arrive Anaheim before Thursday noon. I will be carrying a Toshiba laptop and a black backpack, and might be seating on a green chair. You can also recognize me becuse I will be wearing a blue kazoo (plastic little flute) and a Chun Li pin. As of clothing, I will try to wear a white t-shirt with Third Strike Chun Li art whenever I am in the gaming mood. I am about 1.80 meters, with black hair, and chubby but not too obese.
You can just shout “VMan of Mana” around for better results at finding me
During the convention, If I am not in a panel or the dealer’s room I will be in the arcade or console gaming rooms wearing the kazoo, the pin and the Chun Li shirt if possible. I will try to join Real Otaku Heroes as much as possible as well, so I guess the best way to meet is by following the directions of ROH’s flyers.
R. Akiha’s OTG relaunch! Discuss.
Reversed Akiha is fawking fast. Unbelievably fast. Because of this, she was tweaked with a different moveset, and she can abuse this like no one else in the game, especially now that she has a super-duper presto-easy launcher.
basic launcher combo (jeez, I sound like Master Akuma…):
5+B, B > j. 5+C (knockdown) > (if outside of corner, dash) 2+B (3 hits) > 5+B, B > …
This isn’t an infinite, because of the two-OTG rule: you can only OTG someone twice before further hits wiff completely. Easiest example of this is Miyako’s stomp move 22+A. Do that three times, and it’ll combo. Easy as pie. Or Ren’s 2+B: do that three times for ghetto OTG fun. R. Akiha, however, gets to launch someone, combo for a knockdown, OTG, relaunch, combo for a knockdown, OTG, relaunch, and combo for a knockdown because of her speed. This means that against certain characters, a simple combo like the one listed above will deal about 5000 damage and net her about 150% circuit minimum (this is if you use that combo above with no extra hits involved).
The catch here is that R. Akiha can’t OTG everyone the same way, because of 1) individual character gravity and 2) some seemingly random OTG rules. All characters have a certain rate at which they fall, and some are faster than others to make them unique. In order from quickest-falling to slowest-falling, the list would be something like: Satsuki, Ren, Miyako, Ciel, Shiki Tohno/Nanaya, with Ciel being just slightly under the normal and Shiki being well above it. OTG relaunching just won’t work on those first two; give it up. Well, it will work, but you have to cancel the 2+B after the first 2 hits instead of the third, and given how fast they come out, it’s rather difficult. The others all have the same curious inability to be hit by all three hits of the 2+B. Their character gravities shouldn’t have anything to do with this; after all, they’re being hit when they’re on the ground, not before they touch it.
Adding to all this is a group of characters who seem to have the exact same OTG properties but no specific character gravities beyond the norm (with Sion being the “norm”, since she can be hit with the usual OTG tricks and doesn’t have extra getting-up animation). Arcueid, Warcueid, and Walachia all have the curious property of not being able to be juggled properly by an OTG 2+B from R. Akiha: they’ll only hit twice instead of three times. You can still OTG relaunch, but you have to cancel into her launcher after 2 hits in a move that pretty much scores all 3 hits instantly.
Glitch or intentional? I’m pretty sure all this will become trivial once another few patches are released, but for now that’s how it is. Given that 2.003 shifted the Akihas’ throw glitch (random hits/damage instead of a fixed 7) from Sion to Nrvnqsr, I’m pretty sure it’s just something that was overlooked, along with the fact that Shiki Tohno’s infinite won’t work on the vamps: Sion, V. Sion, Arc, Warc, and Walachia…
EDIT: Few more things. Because of her 2+B OTG, you can sorta do her OTG Origami combo like in the original Melty Blood. However, you won’t be able to glitch it for twice as many hits in half the time like in the original game, but it’s still stylish and probably one of the better ways to consistently land the grab version of the move. Also, against characters you can OTG relaunch successfully, you can also do her 2+B, B, B chain for a full combo and relaunch that’s a bit easier to combo from and into; however, keep in mind that command string bounces them upwards off the ground, so you’ll lose an OTG loop in doing so.
available in arcade ??
Unfortunately no.
I tried to rip Arcueid’s stance animation but I am missing some frames and I can’t fucking tell where it is. It looks like her dress restarts because of the folds, but I know there are some frames where it all makes it flow together. Oh well, i’ll try again later.
Patch for 2.004 is released. You can find a mirror here: http://kalciane.tnim.org/react-replays
To install, execute the file, which will unpack itself. Run the install app, pick the folder where ReACT is located, and click the button on the left. It’ll patch the files, then give you a dialog box to confirm it was okay. Look for the 2.004 in the corner, as usual.
The major change in this patch is the addition of directional breakfalls; think Alpha 3. While this is a good change, it also means that Satsuki’s crossunder game is just kinda non-applicable at this point.
Went to Anime Expo, and in the gaming room (proudly sponsored by Atlus, most awesome) Was a nonassuming little computer on the side. and what were they playing? Meltyblood ReAct. Now, i hadn’t seen the game itself before, but i knew about some of the characters from Tsukihime. (Edit. just scanned the thread. Thanks for the links, even though they weren’t given for me ^^)
I have the 2.004 patch, but do I need the rest of the patches, too? I installed 2.004 but it still says 2.000…
-Edit-
Never mind, got it to work.
Thanks for the link bellreisa.
Yes, I wonder how the MB ReAct tourney as well as the other doujin fighter tournies faired at AX.
hey does anyone play this in AZ, I just got this game and I’m going to get a double PS2 to USB converter if someone wants to play. I’m tryin to learn Satsuki,Mech Hisui, and Hisui&Kohaku.
Satsuki’s just utterly useless now, I haven’t been able to find any way to make her not suck now that people can just tech away from her to safety (she has no offensive tools to attack from a range, or from the air; Satsuki’s the only character in the game who cannot do doublejump or airdash combos, having a primarily ground-based game that got nerfed in 2.004).
HisuKoha is quite powerful, provided you learn them both; they’re sorta like Gen from A3, lots of tools but also somewhat of a learning curve. I haven’t been too successful in figuring out what to do with them aside from using Kohaku and IADing in, building meter and setting up her unblockable with an OTG 236+A cancelled to 22+B followed by her Kungfu super. Hisui seems a bit limited to setting up 22+A from her 2+C and abusing charged 5+C, which has a ridiculous amount of shield frames and super armor. (Yes, I stole all this from Yukinose’s vids… I don’t play HisuKoha myself. :P)
Mech-Hisui I’m blanking out on. For zoning, Nrvnqsr or Walachia seem like better choices. She’s got a pretty good dash and hits rather hard, but her combos seem a bit limited and almost all of her moves are keepaway… I pretty much used her once to beat the game and left it at that.
They did okay. I beasted on ReACT in the first day (I was the guy with a black backpack with a “ReACT/EFZ Players!” sign and using the keyboard) and I saw a lot of “ohh what game is that” and “how can I get it” and “it looks cool!”. In other days it was here and there for what I was told, but didn’t play.
The Real Otaku Heroes meetups were more focused on Queen of Hearts, but they were fun. No real tournament.
There was a seller in the dealers room selling both MB and ReACT, and sold out in the first day. That’s very good if you ask me.
Too bad that not a lot of people know what’s behind Melty Blood, ReACT, nor the Tsukihime anime, as I noticed in the Shingetsutan Tsukihime panel.
Hi fellas, I just got I just bought this and REact and I’m unable to get the original to install correctly for me. I have a feeling the solution is somewhere in this thread, but I can’t fucking find it. :o
But who should I talk to to help me out with this? Thanks!
I couldn’t resist getting this after seeing some vids of this.
Original game is easy to install; just copy the thing to your pc. reACT is difficult to install though. in fact I couldn’t find a way to play react so far.
Okay i need help i’m on my friends computer trying to install this game. it works perfectly on mine but when i play it on his the game runs at 60-61 fps but then suddenly freezes and we must reboot the system since i cant get out of full screen mode. i installed everything like on mine i even tried a different version of the patch ie.(v2.003,2.004 ect.) these are his system specs:
AMD athalon xp 2100+
1.73 ghz
445mb ram
64mb virtual ram (card)
windows xp with service pack 1
and i guess this is his video card :
VGA VIA/S3G KM400/KN400
i have no idea why the game is freezing any suggestions would be very kool.
Mynus
Easy answer: Crappy onboard video card.
Hard answer: It probably has to do with his graphics drivers or something similar.
Oh, and VRAM stands for Video Ram, not Virtual Ram. Virtual memory is ‘fake’ memory dumped on another medium, usually a hard disk.
Usually the main problem with Melty Blood is the video card, especifically, video memory. If you lose frame rate, make sure to put the backgrounds on simple. That helps a lot.
You need to have at least 32MB of Video RAM to run Melty Blood.
