Man I loved React so freaking much. It is an awesome game. In fact because of React I started pick up the Tsukihime DVDs (the anime that Melty Blood is from) and that shit is really good too.
Now that Melty Blood has had an arcade release does this mean that we might see a PS2 port very soon? (and hopefully a stateside release)
Melty Blood is not based on the Tsukihime anime. The Tsukihime anime came AFTER Melty Blood and is a terrible, terrible adaptation of the original.
Melty Blood and the anime are based on the original doujinshi adult game. Compared to the original, the anime is crap. Pick up the manga instead (which will be released in June or so). The manga follows the modified storyline of the anime, but the characters have personality and behavior of the original.
Beelze: the reason you will see a lot of otakus picking Nero is because as a character, Nero is badass. I don’t think it is a good idea to jump on Nero from far away because of jumping C, so find a way to get close to him by dashing and instant air dashing (careful with crows though).
There are no news of a console port. Ecole (publisher) doesn’t seem to like Sony. The arcade runs on Naomi but uses too much texture memory to be ported to Dreamcast, and French Bread (developer) wants to move on other projects and stay as a doujinshi group.
How many people have enough knowledge of japanese (especially Kanji) to understand the original game. What’s wrong with enjoying the anime for what it is. I liked its atmosphere, and
when I watched it I didn’t know of its original source.
The anime is 12 episodes versus several hundreds or thousands
text pages. The anime had a nice music too. I respect your tastes
but whenever someone comes and dares to say that he liked the
anime your automatic answer is: “it’s crap.”.
I understand your desire to tell people about the original story,
but everybody isn’t hardcore anime fan or “otaku”.
Like bell said, do some research or stop talking. =p Ecole doesn’t hate anyone, they’re just Sega fanboys. That Ecole dislikes Sony is just a rumor put out because of Ecole’s Sega love. As for Nero, try jump shielding his j.C? It works in React and isn’t too hard to shield it for all the hits.
Well I like to think I am pretty hard core but I am just getting into the series. Still I enjoyed the Anime so far It has a good story and I like the Music and atmosphere. Altough I kind of wish they would say why Shiki freaked out and killed Arcueid.
The game is very tight and I hope that it goes get a PS2 or X-box port. hell I’d be happy with it on the Gamecube. Jsut so there might be a tournament scene for it.
I believe he switched personalities. Even though the anime isn’t as good as the manga, I still like it. I just consider the two totally different. For instance, Ciel’s addiction to curry is nonexistant in the anime (which is a funny gag if you read the manga ) and Shiki is totally mopey and serious all the time. In the manga, he’s somewhat more of a dweeb. And even if its different, I still like it, the fights are pretty awesome too. :pleased:
This game makes my heart bleed like an emo. I would sacrifice small children to be able to play this on cab somewhere within an hour distance.
As for getting in on Nero, you could just be forceful about it and use a dash with autoguard, if you want the braindead option. Superjumps are a good way to get inside on Nero, surprisingly. His air C is slow to come out, and his ground AA normals are slow as well, with the exception of standing A, and that has a bad angle on it to properly AA with. Properly timed superjumps, esp with someone with crazy wide crossups, or backairdashing crossups, like say Ren, Miyako, or Red Akiha should be able to get you inside close enough and at a bad enough angle of attack to force him to either block or dash. That’s your chance to get inside and put on some pressure to make him uncomfortable. I really don’t see how you are having so much trouble getting inside on him, especially with Red Akiha.
If you get really annoyed, just pick Ciel and qcf+C that shit down. It’s MBR’s universal counter, haha.
beelze:
resident chaos nerd here. Although Lina is probably better than I am…(I gots better combo than yoo lina :b) I should know how to beat nero because I took A LOT of beating all these times.
Nero(666) chaos’ jumping attacks are easy to beat. time it correctly and warakia’s j.C will beat nero j.C PERIOD. That’s how it’s always been. Besides that, quick energy attacks(ren/akiha/mhisui air fireballs) should be able to deal with nero jumping b/c. You need to constantly get on his ass, and shield/airblock accordingly because all his antiair moves except j.B, s.A, and qcf+C have huge recoveries. If you’re hit by unblockable setup(qcf+C) you’re supposed to A)air recover TOWARDS chaos and have his unblockable miss, or in rare situations B) just don’t recover at all. Sometimes if you’re far from each other resets won’t work.
I personally thought the anime was pretty damn good myself, and I know a good deal of the original as well. Sure there are misrepresentations, but that’s quite alright. The music was excellent as well.
Ren vs. Nero is one of Ren’s worst matchups, ever. Yeah, she has the crossup, but good fucking luck getting anywhere within half a screen of Nero to use it.
(Come to think of it, Ren has very few favorable matchups anyways, but Nero’s still one of the worst.)
I liked the anime when I saw it. The anime is good as an anime, but it is a horrible adapation of the original. Yes, the music is very good, and if you know nothing about the original game the plot is interesting and there are many things to like about the anime. The way I see it, the anime is a great introduction to Tsukihime and Type-Moon works (heck, it is what made me get into Tsukihime - more than even Melty Blood), but it is just the tip of the iceberg.
It is not until you start finding out about the differences between the anime and the game that you realize how much the anime is lacking. Not only in terms of character design and personality, but also in terms of plot complexity. IMO, too many things of what makes Tsukihime Tsukihime are just missing. Yes, not everyone speaks Japanese, myself included, but there is more than enough information in the internet, and in English, that shows how dissapointing the anime can be.
This is why I think that when compared to the original, the anime is crap. Okay, “crap” can be an overstatement, but I do consider it to be a lousy adaptation. When you get to see the creators of the anime publicly show that they are not happy about the anime, their panel transforms into a blame game, and answer the question of “would you be interested to make a Fate stay/night anime?” question with a big “NO”, you know there is something wrong.
And lina, I am not that off on what I am saying. So its not like all I type is misinformation, and you know it.
with satsuki when powered up (bar 100%+) if you do a dp+C it does her air grab but there is a big whirlwind effect around her arm… didnt manage to land it. shes cool though, think ill try pick her up.
one thing i dont like about the game is the stick is really sensitive, any roll on your fb’s etc will have you jumping so my combos always end up being c.L->c.M->c.H->jump rather than fb+button or qcb+button
