“Street Fighter Zenith” is a fake game i made up that follows years after the SF3 storyline. i havent really thought about it in-depth, but mel would obviously be the main character, and ryu would probably be the “boss” (consumed by dark hadou, grizzled and couped up in a cave training constantly)

Sweet lookin design, Rey. The anti-dark hadou tattoo is a neat idea, and I really like the use of dark red for the lineart rather than black. Heh, I did my own Mel Masters sketch once. Nowhere near as original as yours though. Keep up the good work.

sano, actually i know who tas is. he’s a pretty rabid SF fan :] actually… i may be wrong, but i believe a lot of tas’ fanfic may have been based on a really old “SF4” drawing i did (with mel and evil ryu) like 3 years ago… i remember him using it for reference, anyway.

Yeah, sortta. I had an idea for SF4 in which all the kids, offsprings, teenage characters would be grown up and be the main focus, while Evil Ryu would be the main boss, then I saw Rey’s STREET FIGHTER BETA pic which he wrote a short blurb along with it explaing it, and how Mel would be the main character, and that got me thinking of having Mel be the main char instead of just a grown up character in SF4 (my original idea)

Rey also had this cool idea of having Evil Ryu (final boss) having glowing kanji all over his body. Rey didnt draw it, but I did (or what I imagine Rey was talking about)

REY - Since you only thought about Zenith breifly, it be nice if you could read over my fic (if you havnt already) you dont have to read it all, but if you were to read it at least read the first part Way Of The Warrior, which is kinda long, but if you like it you can steal/adopt it (or whatever) and read the other parts (which are mostly seperate stories of their own) as well if you find the first part intresting.

Ryu
I imagined Ryu after finishing training with Oro (who will probaly die after he passes everyhting onto Ryu) would wear Oro’s robe as a tribute to his master. Ryu also has the master beads as you can see, and on one sleeve theres a dragon, and on the other is the kanji that normaly appears on his belt in various official artworks.

yo rey i saw ur drawin in the drawstick contest though u weren’t technically entering due to the fact well u work for the sponsor. Curious did anyone here know besides me and rey that drawstick was doing a capcom art contest with udon sponsoring the prizes…i haven’t seen any threads in the art gallery but i haven’t checked in the comic forum. If not you still got till the 30th to bust out some art.

Rey - I was just checking out the Drawstick contest (that you entered) and something struck me. Are you actually able to enter Mel Masters as an entry, cause he’s not your character, ie Capcom designed him, and your pic is just your interpritaion of an older Mel. Im not trying to be an ass or anything, I just dont want to see you enter the contest for nothing, if you were hoping on winning (something) or whatever.
Not that it matters cause you have a crap load of original characters, who are all alot freaking cooler then that version of Mel (no offense) for instance you could enter your character Jedas (Break) as a SF character, and he could be Gill’s son (obviously)

Oh and I relized that one of the coolest things about that Mel is that he’s like a California/Surfer styled Mel with a dash of the Karate element to let you know he’s a fighter.

HAHA no rey couldn’t do it under a different name. The problem with rey…which really isn’t a problem is his styles so unique you cna tell it’s rey’s a mile away.
Rey can use diffrient styles you know? The style that he drew that Mel pic in isnt the only way he knows how to draw. It is true that with some of the diffrient styles he uses you can tell its his from a mile a way, but Im sure he could be like Bengus & Akiman, and draw in a differient style and you wouldnt it know it was Rey’s, specaily if he didnt color it (example about Bengus, theres no way in hell someone could tell that the guy who did the SF1, Darkstalkers, or whatever, artwork, was the same guy who did the Power Stone art)
I have a folder on my comp that has (just checked) 436 pics of Rey’s in it (from his earliest to his newest) and its obvious he can use diffrient styles, and with some of the pics there’s no way youd (or anyone) would be able to tell they are Rey’s unless you knew or were told.
I’ve followed rey’s art for a while now. Since he was about 19…jesus i think i was eitehr in middle school or freshman by when i discovered his art. But like many greta artists they don’t go back. They only progress. So personally as an artist no one really changing from what works. True he can use a different style but its rey. Rey has a uniqueness to all his styles so i can tell which his or not. But thats basically cuase he’s one of those internet artists i check out.
