fuck that… NOTHING BUT HATE… IM RAPING EVERYONE AT ROUND 3
Like I said, MagMan is on his scrub shit right now, and I’m trying to let him know that. He should have adapted. He didn’t; he lost. But even his points make sense. He’s just missing a huge part of it.
But take this- Christian, the guy you lost to last week, got fucked up first match by some guy he’s much better than. In Christian’s case, the Gamestop tournament is horrible. He mains Fuerte, who’s impossible to use on pad. So he has to enter one of his C-Level characters into a tournament, where he can’t even play his C-characters optimally. He’s playing at 50%, at best. Same with me. I main Abel. Can’t use Abel on pad… gotta play Chun (who I picked up, solely for Gamestop purposes). I can’t really get busy with Chun, either. So, I’m playing at 50%. So, the wins are really only a measure of your ability to adapt… not of your true SF4 skill. So I understand MagMan’s frustration… he’s just missing the whole adaptation angle, which, honestly, is the most important part of this tournament.
As for the superiority shit going on in here, it isn’t based on the fact that we post here. It’s based on the fact that a number of us have been tournament-proven players for a fairly long time. It has nothing to do with reading strategies, or crunching frame data. It has to do with the fact that we fuck up people from Maine to California whenever we get the chance. We take losses too, but that’s the life. We know who’s good.
There’s two weeks until Round 3. Dmitri, I’d love for you to come out to a session or two between now and then. I think you have some potential to be a good player. You should try to get an understanding of why we feel like we do. Arguing online with players that just had their pride crushed isn’t gonna get much done. PM me.
What’s the big deal? MagMan laid out a challenge to prove his point. Even if $100 is too much, just counter with a smaller amount like $5. Any sort of playing will still produce infinitely more meaningful evidence for either player’s side than any posting will. That’s how it works here: someone calls someone else out, they play, one person comes out on top, the loser concedes, and good games with no hard feelings. If you’re not willing to do that, then please don’t call someone out.
My own experience is that the difference between a good 360 pad and a bad one is pretty significant. On a fresh pad, pulling off standing 360s isn’t even hard whereas on a really beat-up pad (which I imagine some Gamestop stores have in their kiosks), it’s a lot of work just to hit a corner. Many players can adapt to new tactics on the fly but when the issue is related to core factors that they’ve taken for granted and never experienced before, such as controls that don’t work correctly (since many players haven’t played on arcades for years, if ever), then they may not be able or willing to adjust.
Ultimately, MagMan seems to have lost under fair (if not just) conditions but still, it’s pretty frustrating sometimes to lose to tactics that shouldn’t work in optimal environments; it’s almost not the same game anymore in certain circumstances. Having played online ST for a while, I’ve definitely encountered stuff that I suspected was significantly enhanced by lag and found those suspicions to be true when I encountered them in better online/offline play.
I appreciate you explaining my point of view better than I can myself, but I’d rather let this die out, and if he comes to C3 we’ll play there even if it isn’t for money, I just don’t want him thinking I’m a scrub and it would be the same story on sticks.
We can all leave it at that, and I think it is fair. I will take my loss at GameStop.
dont accept it damnit… i want a recount
jenzel stop being a fucking scrub, you were the one running your mouth off in the first place. all of you had to play on the same shitty pads, so stop making excuses.
new guy- play me:)
dave- congrats man:)
everyone else- see you guys on sticks @ round 3
again…he had to deal with the exact same conditions as you did, and he beat you. don’t crucify him for your own shortcomings. you got outplayed=/
A controller makes all the difference in the world no matter who it is. Therefore not an excuse. Simply put, whatever method you use to play, it has to be as reliable as a Corolla.
…missing the point…entirely…again…
Erik, where’s Round 3 being held at?
Same conditions sure but I’m sure Magman can’t play at his best is what he’s clarifying. Calling out a person is different. Try getting me to play on pad in Tekken. It’s not gonna work guy. I’ll accept the loss, but knowing very well that that wasn’t my best… That’s what it comes down to. Ie. I’ll look like a scrub and I wouldn’t be repping The Law of VA. =) That name can’t be stained.
ANYWAY… Who’s still in?
FDK: gamestop guy told me halethorpe, md. i’m gonna look into the possibility of going to other places though
actually, its easier to play some characters on pad than others… when you rely on execution over mashing, it can make a world of difference…
if you want me to continue on i can go all day about this… fact is, i actually play on pad so i can argue the differences between pad and stick alot more than anyone here.
i dont think you can goto other ones from the rumors… please verify though, and dont come to MD!!!
actually after reading the rules, looks like you cant skip out on your specific region.
slogan win a stick then sell it to me
CONGRATS DAVID FENNELL AND CUTE LIL FENNELL
when i win it, im going to destroy it wih a hammer in the parking lot… all i want is the trip to cali.
I’m willing to play with ya’ll. I probably do need to train to have a shot of winning Round 3… Problem is, my schedule sucks. I’m always either at school or work. I play at school whenever I get a free minute. I’m surprised you knew that Christian faced me… I guess you guys talk huh? Christian was pretty good and it went to the wire with him and I just like it did with you and myself. I’m not doing this because I want to be the best SFIV player. That’s not my motivation. I just like to play. My favorite games are FPS, fighters, and platformers. Nowadays, I barely have enough time to get any gaming in let alone learn a fighter inside out. That said, SFIV hasn’t left my disc tray ever since I got the game. Like I mentioned earlier, I wasn’t even sure if I was gonna get SFIV… but the SF2 fanboy inside of me caved in and I’m glad I did… cuz the game is sooooo good it hurts. Anyway, I’m doing this for me. After this GameStop tournament I probably won’t enter any more. I don’t really care about learning everything about the game, I just want to see how far my skills take me.
And Magneto: I didn’t want to put up $100 but I’ll put up $20. You can even choose the scenario. Pick a place:
1] my house
2] online
3] UMBC game room
4] Round 3
Those are the only places I’m willing to go. If you wanna do it online, winner pays PayPal, cash, or money order.
You can even choose my weapon!
1] 360 pad
2] arcade stick [EX2 until I get my TE]
3] plastic guitar
Go ahead, choose your destiny.
Why would you go to UMBC when Ashburn is closer and in VA? I’m not making a trip out to UMBC, I don’t need to prove anything to anyone or myself, I’ll see you at C3 if you decide to play this game in tournaments, if not, then you can play online or at home that’s fine with me.
