Mayoral Moustaches and Violent Hugs - The Ultimate Haggar thread

just giving you guys a heads up spencer and haggar are best friends for ever…you can use smg to tag them after piledriver…but its kinda strict i might take out hawkeye to put chris in though…since hawkeyes damage is kinda meh

After SPD with Frank Shopping Cart assist mid-screen I think I was able to do something like :dp: + :l: , Super Jump Up , Air :m: , :m: , :h: , :d: + :h: , Land , Dash Forward , :s: , Super Jump Forward , Air :m: , :m: , :h: , :d: + :h: xx :qcf: + :s: , Land , :d: + :h:

Now that I’ve added Ghost Rider I should be able to tack on a Lariat xx RFF into DHC also.

I’m going to try and do some direct capture videos tonight or tomorrow.

Does this mean he can’t OTG after backdrop? As well can he OTG off his air throw at any height now he has his faster fall speed after it? If he can do such solid damage off all these reset situations that’s awesome news, though I can’t imagine getting in go any easier, Ghost Rider vs Haggar does not seem like a fun matchup.

I can’t see a reason why you can’t OTG it, it’s literally Piledriver with a different animation.

Also it’s not ass, you gotta think about dem resets my man:

you know what i love hoodlum launcher still has your opponent not be able to tech forward and back…reset city

You can OTG after Backdrop. It’s exactly the same as OTGing after Flying Piledriver.

Trying to THC 3 mashed hypers is really annoying

Anyone know if there is a damage increase from rotating the stick when doing Final Haggar Buster? If so, how much? Also, what is the most damaging combo you can pull off after it.

Assuming that Haggar is left all alone against whomever and has no assists whatsoever, is there any possible reset after otg–>pipe cancel? Like maybe medium hoodlum launcher or even piledriver (do they flip out in the air or after knockdown when otged?).

Best I can get is 51k extra damage, 501,000 total. As far as OTG on your own, if you don’t have X-Factor there’s no followup you can do nor any resets since the OTG puts them back into hard knockdown. Best thing is you can empty cancel Pipe into Hoodlum :l: to be right on top of them when they tech.

501,000? Huh…I was hoping for more like around Akuma damage, but at least we can combo after it. So since they are in a knockdown state after otg, do we recover before or after them?

I’m assuming that there isn’t any changes to his grab range and getting in with him is still a hassle right?

Yeah getting a hit is the tough part, but at least now his damage is more reasonable. You won’t be required to open up your opponent quite as often.

If you do OTG into Pipe empty canceled into Hoodlum :l: you recover on top of them right before they tech so you get your standard Oki setups.

I see, that is still good i suppose. I think we are gonna feel his lariat nerfed quite well in the long run. It was really too good on point and I use it often for the darnedest things like going through projectiles and short projectile hypers, Bionic arms, smacking away cross-up teleports (Zero, Woverine and Dante), Doom’s footdives and Sent’s super/hyper armor low medium. I hope RFF is enough to cover the missing lariat invincibility and as a get the F off me move. I’m guessing a few months into the game I will be whining for armored moves for Haggar in the next patch, but I hope he is able to hold on his own better for now.

Regarding the lariat, how is his hitbox and hurtbox? When he gets hit with physical moves in his vulnerable lariat frames, will he trade or will he get hit right out of it? I’m hoping that if it trades, we still get enough time to cancel to hoodlum launcher to continue our combos.

Glad the victory portraits came out. I could make a new av in anticipation for Ultimate.

50 friggin characters. Which team will I try first w/ Haggar?

Don’t worry, Haggar’s lariat feels the same to me when used on point. It’s just the assist that has had its properties changed. I can still use it on point for hard knockdowns, getting out of crossups, and going through say, magneto’s shockwave or something.

Oh Good! So on point lariat is still the same. Thought both were changed. Now maybe I can actually fully go through some hypers and punish with RFF. So does Haggar’s lariat assist still have that 2 initial invincible frames gone or is it now replaced with no invincibility after some 10-15 frames?

you know i just found out today that the controller i was using was dropping inputs…so now i need a new controller anyone got any suggestions for an xbox controller that dosnt have a crappy dpad

Have you tried that new official Xbox controller with the D-Pad that twists and transforms? That one is supposed to be pretty good.

Anyways, here’s what I’ve been cooking up so far. Ghost Rider may end up being swapped out for Spencer or some other sweet wall-bounce assist. The lack of range is killing me though.

Prepare to get HUGGED

Wow! Looking good there Haggar, how much meter can you build in between though? Would two bars suffice? Too bad none of my team has assists that could cause a wallbounce or knockdown :(, but I’m sure their damage output could have me doing similar damage regardless even if I shorten it abit.

The combos that start off of :d:+:l: generate 2 bars and the combos that start off of :hcb:+:h: generate 1.5 bars.

EDIT: I mean the mid-screen off of :d:+:l: generates 2 bars. The :d:+:l: corner to corner combo generates closer to 1.75 I think.

Sounds good to me. Notice you didn’t mash til the red aura though. I definitely think you could have gotten more damage but probably won’t be able to hit 1,100,000.
