Mayoral Moustaches and Violent Hugs - The Ultimate Haggar thread

is it just me not seeing it or is crL chain M xx Hoodlum M an actual easy as fuck unavoidable reset?

It might as well be a combo since the opponent can’t avoid it. I have to try this out with a person mashing L

If they aren’t in the corner they can push block the M and the Hoodlum won’t reach, and of course hold up back.

No no no I dont mean as a block string. [S]I’ll make a quick video.[/S]

basically its crL, M xx Hoodlum M.

If they use an invincible move (Thor’s Mighty Punish, Lariat) or mash attacks that are 7 frames or less or jump, they can beat the reset.

a 6 frame attack will trade and both characters will be hit,

I’ve been doing that since I picked up the mayor and it’s reaaaaally good yet simple. Many times I do cr.Lxxcr.M, and they get hit, but then the Hoodlum M gets them anyways because they stay grounded. If you land it on your opponent a lot you can do Hoodlum H if you anticipate their jump.

Am I the only one who has trouble converting off a Hoodlum Launcher? I’m only on day 3 with the Mayor, but still. I though it’d be like converting off a :s:, but I can’t seem to do it. Am I doing it wrong?

Super Jump straight up. If you do a forward super jump after a Hoodlum you’ll go right past them after a hit or two, however you can do that for some tricky reset setups.

:s: is at an angle and hoodlum is straight up

after a Hoodlum Launcher, you must jump straight up. or you can tiger knee a Giant haggar Press to finish up.

with S you must jump forward to hit them. you can also cancel this with tiger knee Giant Haggar Press to finish up.

Thanks, guys.

Why do people keep following out of my RFFs? I thought my problem was because I was doing after a pipe bounce, but even raw, they keep fallin’ out.

This is something you are going to have to practice and check in training room. As a general rule of thumb I only mash RFF if the opponent was grounded (Spencer SLANT SHOT is a big help here) otherwise I like to NOT mash RFF. I believe height plays a factor too as well as of course where in the combo.

Hey, I have a question. I’m not a Haggar player but I wanted to know, how safe on block is each version of Violent Ax? Anyone got the frame data on it?

its not frame data but each they get more unsafe as it goes if that is any help and I think the L one is either safe or hard to punish
sorry if this didn’t help at all

Its the other way around. L Ax is 0 on block while M and H are both +5 on block.

In a way however H is the most unsafe version, since there is a gap between the 2nd and 3rd hit in which the opponent can hit you with a fast move, throw, or (best thing to do) pushblock the second hit then punish the whiff. However if you see this coming you can still cancel to RFF on whiff. It works really well, since a lot of people only expect it after a whiffed lariat.

L Axe neutral
M Axe +5
H Axe +5 on down hit.

H is unsafe as there is a gap between the Up hit and the down swing.

how big is the gap? Can you stick some normals in to try and interrupt him?

yea but only a light I think I’ll have to test it

also are you the Brazilian nova guy on PSN thats high ranked?

I’m not Brazillian, I’m from Portugal. I do main nova, but “high ranked” is relative, I’m a second Lord (recently became a Ranger, I want my green color back :frowning: ). My ID is on my signature and everything, BLightning91.

okay I think I’ve faced you a few times

about the same as the gap with the end of Rapid Fire Fists.
