Ryu can bait Kara’s reflector from Hadouken spam into super cancelled Shinkuu Hadouken =]
Karas can bait ryu into doing IAD j.C spam and COUNTER SUPER.
But yeah if ryu has meter and throws a fireball…you really shouldn’t reflector or you might eat AHVP v2.0 to the face.
Oh and add polymar to the top tier. He does 100% so damn easy, and his assist is really one of the better ones in the game. Plus he’s got genuine easy mix ups going for him, unlike most characters.
Also after tonight’s gathering, I’d have to say Karas completely shuts down Tekkaman, Roll, Alex, Joe to some extent, and probably some others. Poor roll really can’t touch him and the big guys are so slow that karas can just poke at them all day and keep them pinned in the corner without any real risk, not to mention being able to punish tekkaman’s standing moves for free with push block on just about any of them, regardless of what he cancels it into.
No, dude. If you press Ken’s 1 in the proper distance it will beat any Ryu normal anywhere (and also any normal from most of the cast - Jun is a bitch for some reason though). That’s the main reason why he owns IMO. It seems like a mix of Mag’s c. LK and Storm air LK. To win a footsies battle, slow Ryu needs to be a much better player than Ken IMO
tvc ken vs ryu match is not just about poking distance. from what i’ve seen so far there’s no way ryu is better than ken. ryu is just basic rush down into combos and he got an overhead, not saying that is not good but ken just have too many options and traps. he plays a much more tricky game and is way faster than ryu.
Ryu does more damage though and his IAD j.C is probably a bit better than kens. Ken’s more mobile. I think Ryu’s assist is better by miles though. In my experience neither of them have a problem fighting each other really, it just comes down to the better player.
its just that ryu is a much easier character to use/understand. yea ryu’s IAD C is better then kens but you cant spam IAD C on ken, that dash move will stop it and go right into super. if you block it, its not easy to punish and there’s usually an assist follow up. his overhead is way better than ryu’s and can be spammed a lot more into combos. yea kens assist kinda sucks but we’re talking about the two fighting each other. you put up a good defense vs ryu and he’ll have problems taking life. anyway yea its kinda early to decide but there isnt much room for improvement with ryu.
Yeah I think ryu being really good is something that’s gonna vanish, I think it started to already really.

With Ken having possibly the best run away in the game, I think it gives him an instant edge over Ryu… Very basic but it’s an obvious advantage, kind of puts the match up in perspective as far as how much space he can cover (kind of like storm in a way)…
Is it just me or does PTX rape Lightan? I had a quick match against a mate earlier (PTX vs Gold Lightan) and his machine gun pretty much owned me to pieces. Maybe I just sucked, deffinagtely seemed kind of one way though…
I really doubt that PTX has a huge advantage over Lightan. I dont think he has one at all. Thanks to super armor, 2 of PTX’s guns become less effective and Lightan’s grab to body slam become alot easier to land and so do his specials.

PTX only really has his chainsaw to deal with Lightan. Other than that, Lightan doesn’t have much trouble catching up to a huge target, and the guns/rockets don’t help since they don’t knock him down (unless you do a barrage super with the two machine guns. Then you might be able to stun him and hit him with the missile part for lots of damage)

i havent played any good PTX’s, but i play ken and his dp super does some damage on them. plus ken can just teleport and throw boomerangs all day. but then again i dont play good PTX’s so maybe my strategy wont work. i think ken is equal to ryu more or less because even though his damage isnt as good as ryu’s. he has safer attacks which helps from being comboed by the opponent. plus im a fan of his boomerang when it comes back. if you hit overhead after throwing it, there is a chance that it will combo after the overhead and you can start a combo.
Chun and Karas have no bad matchups and everyone else has a 6/4 + against them.

Seriously dude, wait for more tournaments and stuff to happen before you set things in stone like that. Who knows? Maybe the characters you least expect could become counters.
correct me if i’m wrong but i’ve been looking how to punish karas/chun with others chars and at least Chun has problems dealing with Soki since his tutling game just need to push block on chun’s 3C then punish with 5B and combo her taking a really big chunk of life with lighting sword issen at end.
As for Karas i found that when he does 5C and push on 1st hit you can Pushblock to shinkuu hadouken and then punish before the kasha reach you. As i said i could be wrong but playing mostly 8 hours a day with people that are highly trained by now could be. Also Saki Projectile Spam could mess Karas dont know completely because i just started like 4 days ago using her but it is a probability.
