Matador Video Thread

Very nice Vega, Buddha’s Weapon. That was some nice shit with the safe play. Some of those flip kicks cost you a bit, but you recovered well and played solid D after. Good show.

LMAO the irony here.

Please don’t judge all of us based on that one idiot who posted above you (pedoviejo) talking all that shit. I learned a few things from watching your match up there, and thought it was pretty cool. Thanks for staying with Vega all the way through. People who underestimate him get their balls served on a platter. I play Vega exclusively and won’t change to another character regardless of how “low” tier he is.

dont get me wrong, its obvous your good with your wall dives, and that alone is hard to do consitently, plus you played safely, something that is neccesary with with Vega. But really look at how many times you grabed the guys. Did they tech. Really take a look and tell me that those guys are serious, they cant tech. and you won by grabbing, not that its bad, but in a tourney full of good people will that really work? and i understand the psychology of grabing. If you grab a lot during wake up, they like to spam moves that leave them wide open. its the same concept as using FA on wake up. If you constantly grab when your next to them you drill them that you are going to grab again and they start grabing, letting you set up a whiff where you could simply punish. And as for "I was in a tourney with 70+ people with xx amount of $ in the pot + some of EC best players, let me ask you this. Statistically how many of them where on the same level as top players, just because its a big tourney it doesn’t mean there is going to be a lot of competition that is at your level. All it means that its easier for you to get randomed out by a scrub, and if you do pass the pools the competion wont heat up untill your in the top 8 where its easy to lose because that where all the good players are at.

And as for what i said, I will stand by it. I saw no spacing or footsies, and that tells me either you guys suck, or the guys you played where so shitty that it didn’t matter if you did it or not. hence why i wasn’t impressed. I think about these thing before i post. and those commentators really didn’t help me think positive about what I saw. OMG on cross up barcelono.

but whatever rocks your boat.

I’m not gonna drop any names because i have all of the respect for them. But some of the people i’ve beaten place high in every tournament and alot of them made it into the far end of semi finals at EVOLUTION. I, and the rest of America would consider them “top players.”

Like i said before, show me how incredibleeee your vega is and show me how well you do at tournaments instead of watching youtube all day and playing against online scrubs. If you’re not gonna do either then im not gonna bother responding to your posts anymore.

As for the commentators, do you know why they made a big deal out of everything? It’s because its rare to see vega actually WINNING.

Well most of my time playing isnt against online scrubs, its against other forum members, who are good with their respective characters. but there arent any long beach tourney that i havent heard of, none of my friends play, and i cant go to the arcade because i cant play with a stick, i play on pad. but after reading you automatically assume i blow, but whatever, you can play me and you be the judge, of wheater i suck or not. And you tube isnt great because I spend my time in training figuring out set ups, block strings, resets, kara set ups, and figuring advanced strats like wall dive traps, wall dive set ups, and using back dash to escape moves. But like i said whatever rocks your boat.

Why so much hate?

Buddha, there are a couple things I think you should work on, like substituting back-dashing for flipping, but you played solidly. Just work on abusing Vega’s cr. mp and, if you’re going to use ST as an AA, always be ready for the jump. That Ken player knocked you out of it twice (i think) because you did it too late. Overall though, you played well.

Also, can we watch how we critique others here? I mean, I’m sure the rest of you wouldn’t want to post vids, if you knew that everyone was going to focus pretty much on just ONE aspect of your game… So Buddah throws a lot, so what? If it works, it works.

Shit if i had a cam corder i would post so many on you tube. Just hearing others approach on what you should have done/not done will give me plenty of ideas to improve my game. Is there any way i can record directly from my monitor? If so im buying. But yeah I sounded douch baggy, but you did so many strange things like constant back flip, and other things.

Where exactly is there irony here?
Are you stupid? Figuring out/understanding the essence of a character compared to knowing what attacks require an OOOOO and what attacks do not? lol
Trolling me because of that thread that was also meant to help… Really, you’re a bag of shit.

I Actually thought you were pretty good…but with regards to tourneys, I’m from Ireland where there’s only about 20 players and no arcade scene at all. how does a person like me judge themselves? Online is the best I’ve got. I recall beating DIOGITALOVAFIEND on occasion as well…

I didn’t watch the match because I usually don’t bother to watch american videos, but is this general hate about how he threw alot and it worked, or he threw alot and it failed? If it’s working it means he used the correct options, which is a good thing.

I just reposted this because of general agreement.

I somewhat remember your name since i usually remember every vega player i meet, but i cant recall winning or losing because i just play randomly online to test things out or to kill time.

But, dont be mistaken, i dont really look down on people that play online. It’s actually a great source for learning matchups and developing new tricks. I actually used to play on xbl alot when the game first came out. I got up to 10k bp in rankings and when championship mode came out, I got to G1 in about a month.

But, i do look down on people that think that they are better than others based on videos, especially when they dont even attempt to enter any tournies so they have no idea what it’s like. They dont understand that in a tournament setting, you’re not gonna play perfectly like you would at home. Theres alot more pressure and the opponent can hear you trying to do certain moves/setups so next time you try it, they’ll already know before you even do it.

Bebop - In my experience, using c.mp too often against rufus is a bad idea since it recovers too slowly. Rufus can dive kick over it for free and dont forget about his random ex messiah kicks. And yeah, normally i do use backdash alot but i just didnt use it in those matches because i forgot all about it. Nerves got me, it happens, you should know what i mean.

Buddha’s weapon. I’m up against an extremely good Rufus player(TongariDan)in the final of the Capcom Unity PS3 online tournament. I’ve looked at your vid, taken note, but am wondering do you have any more suggestions or teffective tricks against him?
Good Rufus players destroy me…

Just play safe, dont rush too much. Most of the time the rufus player is gonna do random messiah kicks on wakeup, and also random messiah kicks after you block his tornado punch thingy so watch out for those. I try to bait those messiah kicks just so that he can waste his meter. When he has no meter is when you can just go crazy and attack. Other than that, just play the way you usually play, but also pray.

Cheers, I’ve already started the praying bit…!!!

Buddha’s replay was good. No “wow” factor or anything and maybe it’s because the announcers went shit banannas that pissed you guys off so bad but it was a decent replay. I’d love to play ya sometime on Xbl mirror if you care to buddha; I’ve never played tournaments but that’s not my fault i live no where near any arcades nor do I have the time to drive 4-5 hours to the nearest one. However i still consider myself pretty decent just off my XBL play which you seem to deem as worthless :X? Ed Ma, Mago, JR rodriguez and plenty of other greats play on XBL :).

Oh, I meant against the Ken player. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Against the Ken, you opted to use st.hk and df.hk a lot. While these options aren’t horrible, they aren’t what you should be abusing. If you throw out a st.hk and it wiffs, or even if it’s blocked, that’s a free dp for any shoto. Also, df.hk almost always puts you at a risk since you hardly ever want to be in a shoto’s face. Just wait right inside cr.mp range, and footsie them until they get frustrated and jump, BUT since you’re looking for the jump, popping off a ST or air throw should be twice as easy.

I’m not saying DON’T use those options, but cr.mp is what you want to abuse.

Had a set with my sparring partner.

Mistakes of mine that I notice:

  • Took me a miss or two to realize to always charge after d/f+roundhouse immediately.

  • When doing wall dive mix ups, I tend to drift towards the corner. Even if they get hit, it’s not worth being in the corner for. He did some nasty focus mix ups before in the corner which weren’t pretty D:

  • Doing a proper d/f+roundhouse instead of executing a slide.

Those can easily be fixed over time though, first time using Vega against an offline player (on PSN). Any other tips would be nice, I did lose 6-10 but only recorded near the last 3.

oic, i’ll test that next time, thanks :china:

MagnetoManiac - your vega’s nice, did you stop using chun?

KentaroFA - I didnt say xbl was worthless, reread my post.

^Thanks!

I have drifted away from Chun in tournaments, been using Akuma recently. The reason for that is I feel that he’s similar to Chun and equipped better, and our top players locally are Sagat players so I’m using him mainly now.

Vega is interesting and fun to use for me. I’ve been using Chun since December and it gets boring, but Vega definitely keeps me alert 100% of the match so that’s my reason for using him. Whatever I can learn here/about him, I want to carry concepts over to my other characters. Just trying to round myself out overall, but I do feel like I will be using Vega in some tournament situations.

I may show up one day to these c3’s and bring my vega too! Sakura is a thing of the past! Vega is the new hotness.
