My sentiments exactly. I honestly hate XBL sometimes, I just wish I lived near a good arcade so I could have some real competition. Even if I got my ass handed to me, I’d still be happy so long as I learned something.
On a side note, I guess I’m the opposite of you, as Vega seems to mesh with my mindset perfectly.
Vega and I get along really really well, and nobody feels quite as good or as natural to me as Vega, but every once in a while I just have an incredibly off night and just shit the bed in every single match. It’s times like these I just have to realize that doing really poorly in little stints is just part of the process of getting better and to just try my best to learn from it.
This happens a lot more often than I’d like for it to, but whatever! There’s always another day~

the best thing ive done to up my game other then going to local tourneys ( which are usually just a huge group of friends and some people we dont know ) is to add people who kick my ass to my friends list. also anyone who can should try to play knucklez and dreadz, both of them are sick. you can get alot of good competition over live you just need to find it.

Same thing here. Two friends I can think of off the top of my head who I still can’t beat consistently are Moniraking (mains Ryu/Seth) and InfiniteWinder (Dhalsim). Both are top notch players.

I don’t even like Street Fighter. Never have. I’ve just always liked Vega. I don’t remember why, but when SFIV came out and i played it for the first time at some friendly tourney at a friend’s house, i said “I’m picking this guy” even though i had no idea how to use him…like at all.
I remember an SNK vs Capcom arcade machine was at this burger place i used to go to when i was little, and i always picked Vega because he looked cool. I can’t, and will not shake this guy

Thanks guys. After some thought, I don’t think I’ll completely drop Vega. And even though it’s a distant thought, if I somehow manage to get into top 8 at Evo, I’ll switch between Sim and Vega. And thought it’s most likely not gonna happen, if I make it to finals, it’s Vega all the way. :lovin:

i have to agree with alot of you, vega pisses me rite the F*** off sometimes but i just refuse to give him up. I just love using him and there no other character that i am more satisfied with winning with. The only reason i picked him at first is because he has a damn claw believe it or not hahaha. Also the arcade factor is a problem, i have to drive almost an hour away(Arcade infinit) just to have good competition and then i have to deal with getting used to the input on that tv compared to mine. I promised myself that i would stop playing street fighter if i did not get a win with vega at Arcade infiniti but yesterday i got a couple of wins against some experienced players so i was proud of myself and am not gonna stop playing street fighter or using vega. :wgrin:

a lot of Vega users are starting to whine in every gaming site i go to , especially since they reached G2 in championship mode that has decent players that can stop their swan dive shit , usually people that whine about Vega being crap are poeple that go in a pattern in every match and if the opponent can counter it they cant do shit
I dont want to sound like a bitch but if u play like that , then u suck at this game
what u SHOULD do is try some setups , combos and specials and see how the opponent reacts to them , so that by the 2nd or 3rd round maximum , u have a strategy that’ll beat them for sure
going in a pattern over and over only works on noobs , and may work if you use characters like Sagat , Guile or Ryu
if u actually play that way , then drop Vega and switch , Vega aint for you
if things keep going as they are now with Vega users whining and dropping him , seems like I’ll be the only Vega user left after a month or so :wtf:
Never whined about Claw, don’t intend to. I know he’s weak, I know he has more limited options, I know he’s harder to win with, and since I know these things I can’t really complain about them seeing as I chose to play him after it has been pretty solidly established that he’s the weakest in the game.
However, I think it’s perfectly fine for people to criticize poor development choices regarding Claw. For example, df.MK not being an overhead was a poor design choice in my eyes. Same thing with his super being very, very situationally useful and uncomboable. Ultra is uncomboable outside of FA3. No invincibility on EXST etc.
I could go on and on about some poor design choices, and I’m honestly not complaining because I still love playing Claw, weaknesses and all. It annoys me when people just whine about losing/dropping Claw/how much Claw sucks without really elaborating or having a point since they’re just pissed over losing. But if you pick him you kinda have to accept that you’re on a disadvantage and just do your best with him, but I don’t think we should say people are whining if they’re simply criticizing design choices.

yeah man. i hear all the cries about vega and i feel like if your gonna whine about it then play with someone else if its that much of a problem. there is a local tourney tomorrow and its my first tourney that ive ever been in. im ranked in the g1 ranks now on x 360 using only vega. i say if you have some good skiils then no matter what the moves are that the character has you should be able to take the match. you make the character.
right now i feel like i make boxer my bitch every time i play one, im trying to get the blanka matchup down but i only get out the kara green fist 50% of the time so its hard to punish him unless hes retarded and uses ball from cross screen and eats a lariat.
