You can also do it without being too far away, but it’d have to be a meaty cosmic heel (cosmic heel lol, sounds perfect for a launcher ^^)
Not to mention if you don’t have meter it would make no sense to do this over a st.
Not to take away anything from onikage, great matches. I’m just saying if you were planning to combo anything that the st would be the best option without meter.
hmmm…
if you dont have meter sometimes i like to go for the reset with st. mp and then either kara throw or another cosmic heel. vega has some really cool reset options due to different spacings he can set up with different punches combined with his kara throw.
You’re definitely right about that, but I was thinking that oni was trying to get the guy into a corner trap by doing that, and thought the st would have done better damage for the same result.
I found that resetting results in you taking too many risks. Throw can be teched, reversaled and stuff. Sure, every now and then it’s a great mixup, but I usually ST after df.hk.
Thats exactly why i chose to main sim. His national tourny video Sold me, and now his Sbo qualifier videos are amazing. Sad to see you leave Vega though i absolutely can’t get enough of your vids.
Haha, this is awesome. JBell84 is my brother and he gets a lot of practice playing against my Vega. He’s used to it haha :]
Knucklez, I told him the video of you mauling him is on Youtube and he just “augggh, that was the worst match of my life” 'd
@ Bebop
So true. lol, playing Vega and the last few days in particular of playng has made it clear that at a cetain level I can’t can’t cope with him… so…Im now looking for a new main.
Playing for FUN is a different story altogether. In player/casual matches I’ll pick anyone just to screw around.
I’ll always play Vega beasue I really like him and he looks cool, ect ect
But I like winning. I want to win more. I suppose its a cross roads that everyone may come to at some point.
I’m really surprised of the fact that people keep leaving or ditching Vega just because they can’t play.
No offense, but even with Vega, if you can play, you can win. You can win almost every fucking match on xbl at least.
I understand that Bebop wants to play another character cause he’s a pro. But some of us aren’t and never will be, nor do they have an arcade near their places.
Oh and people whining about crossups. Heck, there are so many characters without decent anti-airs. Just Vega not having one isn’t an excuse for being too stupid to block or FA that shit.
Yeah I’m still playing Vega. I’ve been playing around with other characters just because losing gets frustrating sometimes, but I’m not changing ‘mains.’ I’m not good enough to enter tournies or whatever, and even though I’m not that great in general, I still smoke all my friends with Vega, and that’s fun.
It’s funny, I’ve been playing some Akuma/Cammy lately, and I still block/FA/Dash out of pressure situations instead DP reversaling lol. I’m so used to it. I got pretty mad when I lost a match because I tried backflipping through an Ultra… and realized I wasn’t Vega
This is not true. Im pretty good with vega. I don’t like running uphill constantly. Im tired. Like I said tho I still will always play him, just not as serious anymore.
Gonna find someone who is more well rounded.
I firmly believe anybody with the will to improve and learn can become a pro at SF with time. Same with all fighting games, really.
Yeah, but me? I’m never gonna become a pro cause I’m European. That’s it - I’d have to move to Japan to actually make a difference. Not even every pro player in America gets credit for what he’s doing. I’m sure most of the japanese don’t even know justin wong lol
And most of us just aren’t. Maybe a few. But most of us are just gonna enjoy the fun, and when that little SF4 phase is over, it’s over. We play other games, wait till other fighting games come out, then play online again just to bash some newbs.
the biggest reason i dropped vega is his play style and the fact that i just ended up bored as shit with him, the competitive factor also has something to do with it but its more the fact that i dont mesh well with his play style, which is pretty much poke, run, poke, run… and then run… i like to play rushdown and vega has a good rushdown game against intermediate players but against people who play competitively it falls to shit. so i picked up geif because i have to be agressive with him. geif has better 50/50 set ups and more of them and i like that.
and no im not a pro player but i do go to local tourneys and plan on going to evo so i would like to bring a character who meshes with my psyche. i think i played vega too casually and switching mains was my only option to get more competitive. its a long road to completely learn a new character but i feel like im 1000 times better with gief already then i ever was with vega.
ohh and i can win with vega pretty easily online, but at local tourneys i havent had too much luck. live is so retarded compared to playing next to someone. i swear i wish there were an arcade around were i live because i wasted so much time getting good at doing links with lag and using strats that revolve around lag.
I’ll be honest – I’ve thought about giving him up lately. When I fight a Blanka who I know I’m better than, but lose to anyway. When I fight a Balrog who combos me into his ultra with his goddamned crouching jabs. When Ryu’s pixel-perfect hitbox on one of his normals knocks me out of one of my EX moves because he’s the series’ signature character… it just makes me tired.
If I had a useful anti-air, if I had a useful reversal, if I could combo into my ultra (or even land it consistently), if my moves were allowed to hit someone when I collide with their bodies… then I would have absolutely no qualms with representing Spain forever. But… it would be so easy to take another character. So… so comfortable.
But then I realize that I really don’t like any other characters enough to switch to them, and I cry softly to myself.
Just wanted to come over to the Claw forum and give respect to Bebop. Just watched that three v. three where you did work against Jack’s Sagat. You’re my favorite SF4 player to watch and I play Dictator. Keep it up!
This sums up a lot of my thoughts as well, though I’ve pretty much learned to accept it and run with it.
I have been dabbling with lots of the cast lately though. Not because I want to stop using Vega, just for some variety. According to my player data, I use him like 85% of the time anyways lol.
This is the only reason i play Vega. It keeps me extremely interested to lose to some of the how should i say less skilled players online. It keeps me fresh attentive and makes me a better player not just with Vega but with all characters. When i started this game i will be honest i mained Ryu and I got lazy and sloppy with execution because i could be. With Vega it keeps me a lot sharper than when i was Ryu.
Well and the Mask
^This.
It gets so frustrating sometime, I’ll go into training mode and mess around and get annoyed at how easy things are for other characters. AA, easy links, combo-able ultra, the list goes on.
Yet I play him anyway.
