Matador Video Thread

Interesting… I never thought about using U1 against Chun Li. Her jump is extremely floaty and would be easy to react to. I guess this is the same case with Dhalsim.

i tend to use U1 a lot against people who jump a lot. Fuerte is included in that list. Any wall jump by him is a free ultra

El Fuerte is the char on which a wake-up U1 works most. Because my leaving the ground part knocks him from his wake up vortex on me.

On the other hand, I don’t use it against every jumpy character. Because Vega’s leave-the-ground loses to most aerial assault. Because it cannot be done after focus attack unless it is a 3rd state(it was not called state) focus. And because doing U1’s motion is already taking 2 frames and then he will leave the ground, it is a long shot for me. And also, I simply cannot land U1 after CH easily, although I can land U2 after cosmic heel everytime with no exception. And it is so big a fun.

it doesnt lose if the opponent’s attack doesnt hit you. And a common problem people tend to make is to try to land the knee hit. Sometimes going to the back wall is better.

Hmmmm…I wonder if should try and use it against Rufus…particularly Ricky’s Rufus…hmmmm…

Wow 0_0. That is one sick Claw. I was just talking to friends the other day if East Coast had any good Claw players and lo and behold. Learned a lot watching this vid. Gonna definitely use more U1 now in more matchups other than Sim and other fireball characters.

There are more good east coast Vega players than you may think… lol…

against rufus even someone like me who predominantly uses U1 picks U2.

You’re not going to beat Rufus. If you’re going to beat Ricky, then you have to beat Ricky. I got nothing for advice against Ricky. I’ve never even taken a round off him. Jozhear would be your best bet in that department.

Ok…this Claw is legit in my book and Chris G is a fraud at this game XD. Very entertaining to watch especially with Arturo’s commentary.

I’m getting closer. I just need that one moment that’ll push me over to actually beat him for like it did against Champ a while back. I’ve only beaten him in a team tourney, but it doesn’t really count. I almost sent him to loser’s at a TNT a few months ago off stream taking the first match from him. I have to read in between the lines of what he’s doing on screen so I don’t get distracted by some of the stuff he does.

Indeed, he’s real good at zoning games. Real solid defense, there are things to learn from him.

And with a pad on the top of that. ^^

If you can… Post the links with all your matches against Ricky, or as many as you have. I’m pretty good at spotting flaws in game play when I’m not actually playing. Maybe we can figure something out

just found this FT5 between Jozhear and John Choi on eventhubs!

time to watch it

Fuck the shoto jump roundhouse.

He uses it really well. the way he was zoning me passive aggressively with j. rh was something I wasn’t used to. Most Ryus will scale it back and shoot hadoukens / zone you for a while, but when he jumped in as much as he did in the beginning, i wasn’t prepared. Took me a while to adjust.

or… Joz can beat up on Ricky for you Marcos and you can just see how he does it. :stuck_out_tongue:

If I may, I think that’s part of the problem : you need some matches to adapt to a shoto player. 3 fights, to be precise ; it was just the same against Iilsicx66’s Ken.

That play at the end, with FADC through fireballs into throw, EX SHC, EX RCF was good. U2 reactions were just excellent. backdashing so he could not FADC his DP’s was excellent. So why did you bothered jumping at him during the first fights ? Just one frame off, and a DP would connect ?

Great fight anyway. I liked how you baited him into fireballs when having U2 charged (though it is tough to time, maybe U1 would have been easier). And I liked how much time he took him to understand at the end of the 4th fight, that non, you wouldn’t kill yourself to get in now that you had the life lead. ^^

One thing I was wondering about… is, when not being close… would KKK flip or neutral jumps be better than FADC for fireball escape ? I mean, no FADC = projectile still on the screen, meaning no other one on the path for a few frames…

Two matches from a 2v2 we had at my local scene a few months ago. The camera died during the last match so unfortunately all of it isn’t recorded. I lost though.
