Matador Video Thread

Good shit Joz! Whiffed overhead into INSTANT overhead. That was tight.

I loved the jumpin-LK into throw and also the FA-dash into U2 (even though it didn’t land). I also saw you jumpin with MK once at the last second from a deceptive range that every other normal probably would have wiffed at - very interesting.

Yeah I am picky about which jump ins I use. If you’re at a certain range j. hk and j. hp will never hit so i try to diversify it to at least ensure i can put something out there.

should rename the vid “Jozhear as Canada” lol

has a few Vega videos up from the classic battle of Gods Garden that just happened, I haven’t watched it yet and it’s mislabeled.

Yeah man. Whiff an overhead, he thinks it’s an obvious whiff for me to get him to block high if the overhead were meaty, then I go low. I’m one step ahead. I go overhead again.

I think there’s a certain point where if you play a realy good opponent and you go for the instant overhead kill and they block it that you would 100% die. But I’d like to see an opponent do that to me some day because it’s never happened.

That a boy. I love seeing new tricks like those. By the way, do you think you’ll be able to make it to Socal Regionals this year?

Man I really wish I could. As of now it’s a definite no.

I’m thinking of taking the next semester off and really giving SF+ Travel a go. I’m sick and tired of sitting around at school being salty cause I can’t go to tourneys…

I have to go to school for another year anyway (This is my 4th, I’m trying to get into a prestigious writing class which i didn’t this year) so it makes no difference if I take a semester off, but if i can work and save my own cash then yeah i want to be at all the tourneys.

regardless, being sponsored would be pretty sick too.

just wondering but does it really hurt your grade that much to miss a class or 2 every semester?

dude i miss over 9000 classes a semester, if i don’t HAVE to be at a class there is no way i’m going to go

i just buckle down and say fuck the participation mark and do what i have to do to pass

bottom line is, i make a commitment and it’s something that takes away from the effort i would love to put into SF

poor you :(, you’re one of my greatest incentives to play Claw , hope everything will be fine with you

I love you.

I feel you, man. I’ve skipped plenty of classes that I honestly felt weren’t relevant to what I wanted to do with my life, yet were required courses to graduate. Now with graduation only 2 weeks away, I’m finally starting to feel free as a Spaniard doing an EX FBA~

Sponsorship - one day!

By the way, I’ll be in Tokyo for a few months starting January 8th, and I want to try to meet up with Makoto and get some tips / videos. If anyone has his contact information, or location in general, please let me know. If not, I’ll just stalk him somehow.

siphon off as much info as you can and report back…
just make sure you’re back in time for evo

Get me an Autograph! Well on second though it would be kinda hard to deliver my left ass cheek to you for that

well they invented these things called knives…

cut it off and have it stay in water.

ship it over

have his signature tatooed on

ship it back

have it put back on

problem solved

I remember thinking I did better than I actually did on further review, haha. ggs again

Hmm sounds as easy as OSteching online

Nice! It is good to see that you could keep up the pace (keep the pace? keep up with Jozhear?), at least for some time…

I had a great time watching you play when I saw this live, props.

Your Vega is tricky Meteo. We have a similar style. Normally when play Vega mirrors I just wait for them to do unsafe cosmic heels. You didn’t do any, which is smart. It’s so goddamn hard to connect with a CH on walkback Vega.

When I noticed you liked to do scarlet terrors though, I think I gained a significant edge. I just poured on the pressure, and it was even better when you teched everything cause I figured I could just get away with pressing buttons intead.

When I play other Vegas, I am always trying to find an avenue to jump and get tons of frame advantage. You were pretty good at defending against that but it was rare that you air-grabbed me. Remember that it’s worth going up there to whiff an air grab to check a jump of mine because both of us are pretty afraid to try and anti-air the other, cause it really just doesn’t work in certain spacings.

I even managed to get some of those trade close fierces off in the corner but my reactions suck and I didn’t complete the combo. This is high level frame trap tech IMO. I’ve been trying to integrate it for a while and have mixed success. But, generally, my philosophy is "I know he’s late teching to block the c. jab, and I have nothing to lose here, so I’m going for the close fierce trap cause it has, generally, a 100% positive outcome, barring a couple things - ultra 2, and jump back, but for obvious reasons you are hesitant to do both.

Also remember that, overheads IMO are only useful against charge characters as a deterrent against charging. However, 100% of all Vegas everywhere follow up every PoM with throw, seriously. Although I didn’t punish it I startedf getting it in my brain after a while - if you predict that I crouch, (IE, am not walking back out of throw range) and am not pressing buttons (IE, to stop Vega’s horrendously slow overhead) just kara throw instead. I seriously find overhead only useful against Guile, because they get nervous about holding DB and it allows me to bait him into pressing buttons (For massive c. mk punishes).

What else… I was getting nervous when you interrupted walk up throws with good c. lp strings. Good stuff. Did u liek my FBA punish with the close fierce EX Rroll? Lol even though it was a waste of meter I’m trying to get it into my head to rip that out when the situation calls for it. Too much damage / offensive potential on the follow up to not do it.I’m so happy i hit that link lol I get mega nervous when rounds are about to end and I’m trying to kill with the post ex-roll link.

My pieces of advice -

  1. Remember that eating a throw isn’t a bad thing some of the times. Like I said, it was clear you were teching a lot and most of my kara throw attempts were getting punished - good on you, but the onus is on you to still mix up your defensive options. You were really smart with the flip and I was facepalming for not punishing it, but hey, it did avoid my sweep OS that one time. That’s what it’s there for.

  2. Try to integrate roll into your game like I do. If you force me to block a jump in, don’t go for the obvious imx up - put Vega in the corner where he can’t walk back out of all your shit (Imperative for mirror match). Just stack a frame trap on with close fierce roll and let the -2 mindgames do the work. I love post-crystal flash mindgames in Vega mirror…

  3. Even though cosmic heel is a bad idea it might be worth throwing it out. I feel like you relied on overhead a bit too much to start your offense, and I was having luck mashing ST out of some of your strings later on. Remember to diversify your frame traps as it is 100% important to opening up Vega who is inclined to play as smart defense as possible. Easy damage isn’t really common in the mirror until you get someone in the corner.

all in all though, GGs, I hope you appreciate my rambling.

Jozhear, You’ll most likely wash me badly but I was hoping to run maybe a first to 5 with you in hopes of getting some feedback like you did with Meteo…if possible =\
