hi. okay so I am a long time lurker. I’ve mained vega since sf4. I go to local arcades and a casual, semi-pro player. its hard to judge without videos and such but just to shed some light I started a new account over the weekend, played 4hrs in total and reached 3600pp online.

As i said, im a casual player but i watch ALOT of sf videos.

watchin the last vid of “the magic of jozhear”, i just cannot resist the urge to post this.

jozhear is, quite frankly, pretty shit as pro vega player. I’m sure he’s good compared to me and other casual players, but as a pro player, he is pretty bad. whenever he faces real pros he gets bodied. I’m already bein nice and using the term bodied instead of raped.

Canada cup videos…joz gets destroyed by everybody pro. justin wong, mago, daigo all rape him.

When watchin that video above me I just cant help it but speak out. Joz double p-ed this fei long dude that is supposedly good and got top 8 recently at a calgary tourney…but that fei’s shit too. he’s the king of saskachewan…because nobody fuckin plays sf there! how would u feel if i said i was the king of sf in the artic?

search up this fei long’s videos, evo is his name. yes, he’s shit. he plays with pad i believe (which i dont respect because it is not pro. how the hell can u plink on a pad).

Ok the reason of my rant is because i feel ashamed with joz being “one of the best pro vega players” as a vega player myself. He thinks he’s the shit because he is the king of calgary (not gonna repeat myself with the king of hick town analogies), and other people thinks he’s the shit as well, but I am here to speak out what i think.

anecdotal info here: I know a friend that knows JS Master. JS told my friend that when they were on the same team that beat team japan in canada cup, Joz originally wanted to be anchor (meaning playing last; last defense of the team, usually the best player). JS obviously refused…good thing he did! because he one char victoried air, mago, daigo and saved canada some dignity (after joz and others got raped)

The main point of my rant is that there are no good pro vega players to look up to! if Joz is considered “one of the best vega players” then shittttt…

Makoto has retired apparently, Cat-K/Arai is good but he can be random at times, Jozhear as I mentioned is shit, noel brown is even shittier than joz…sigh, all our hopes are on TATSU!!! Oh and meteo2 in my opinion is pretty sick too.

Now joz, please step up your game. please prove yourself by playing pro players and holding your own…please win games of significance (i.e. evo 2011 or other big tournies) and prove that you are one of the best vega players. double perfecting somebody shit doesnt impress anyone.

with that being said, I do appreciate when real pros give advice here. Meteo2 has made great videos and posted great vega information, and on top of that have played in major tournies and hold his own.

Bottom line, I’m just really sad that Makoto has retired. He was an amazing vega player with hardly any flaws in his game. He was my sole inspiration to play vega and im sure everybody looked up to him. Sigh…

no you are not supposed to stop and take a moment of reflection. but again i must restate what i said in the first post…if u do plan on going to evo and other tournies, please step up ur game so u can proudly represent all vega mainers! if u play against top players (as u said, ppl who qualify for SBO) dont get bodied, and try to hold ur own!

and you dont have to be sorry lol. nothing against u joz…im sure u tried ur best. but on a macro level, just saddening to know that there are few good pro vegas out there…

do i have any points to help with ur game? i aint pro or anything to give out advice lol, but based on my opinion and from watchin vids of you, learn match ups better, and maybe know ur opponents tendencies and react/bait them better? and i think u can be more aggressive as well, since vega’s defense isnt good, so dont always just play overly-safe. u gotta be brave once in a while.

@Jozhear : I watched a lot of videos from you, and I see that if you can use forward dash ultra 2 after baiting fireball users effectively, it’s really a good trap .
Especially I see you have a chance to win Rose Gooteck and Ryu Daigo in Canada Cup if you can use that. I know it’s very risky but the greater the risk is, the better outcome it will be. I also agree with rotten_apple333, playing safe game always won’t be effective at the pro-level.

Woh, I completely missed the drama on that last page. Reading that, I had several OH NO HE DIDN’T (snaps fingers) moments, haha. But seriously, we have to respect our brothers. I appreciate the name drops but I doubt I’d be able to contend as well as Joz does now for quite a while. The man was doing most of the hardest shit in my Bleeding Edge video [media=youtube]n67gshJz9YU"[/media] before I finally sat down in the training room and tried them 100 times in a row until I got them by luck basically. I mean yeah, I can sit down in the training room and find some mediocre option selects and I know how to read frame data pretty well, but it doesn’t help me stop getting jumped in on for free really.

I lucked out on that WB5 stream when I swept Dizzy’s chun all 4 rounds by not respecting him (wakeup ultra, EX.SHC) and just catching him on matchup shenanigans he didn’t know. I was knocked out by a very basic Rufus and basic Honda. I fought Justin Wong at NEC XI in casuals, and he just tore me apart with Dudley, I literally had no clue how to keep him out or get him off of me the way he was playing. Dr Chaos and MarlinPie also chew me out regularly when I run into them. The problem is that I’m pretty bad at using the other characters and I don’t practice against people offline except at tourneys, so I’m weak on matchup fundamentals when it comes to intercepting jump ins or getting out of pressure. My game plan is usually to just “make shit happen” :confused:

Also, if you didn’t know, I’m a pad player and my cr.MP’s are never plinked.

But when that post about Joz was written, I felt like it was directed not to him but to me and almost all of the other Vega’s as well. We need to work harder on matchups, lets really go at it with the new matchup thread. We often don’t feel like working hard to get better by practicing the setups for every single situation, we just want to be lazy and play random games vs people.

Anyway, I’ll try and get some new vids up at some point because it’s been a while.

Dude, don’t go disrespecting pad players just because you can’t hack it. I play on stick and have nothing but respect for people who can execute well on pad. I know I sure as hell couldn’t. I could barely do CH > ST on pad yet people like Meteo make all of this look like child’s play.

And for the love of god don’t go being all “You got bodied lol” When you probably couldn’t put up even half the fight Joz did. Not sounding like I’m trying to cockride or anything like that, but that’s just how it is.

As for pad-longs…does this mean you hate Inthul? From the way you talk, Inthul could probably body you in two seconds flat.
It’s not the controller used, it’s the mind and effort of the player. You can put as much effort into stick and pad and be on equal grounds at the end of the day. It’s nothing but a preference.
