Matador Video Thread

Here’s some AE vega action:

sadly he’s not using c.mk that much - and he’s not doing any ex.rcf into any combo… but you can see that cosmic heel is safe on safe distance …

The more videos I see, the more it seems to me that they fixed the hitbox on CH… it appears that it is hitting small crouched characters like sakura from a distance where it would normally miss in super. Or maybe I am mistaken.

It actually does. If it hits like that on all characters, it means nobody can punish or hurt you at max distance, or that distance. Maybe. Given a move like SRK, if you do it in the -3 vicinity, it probably wont hit because the first active frame isnt close enough to hit. It might have characteristics like Gen’s roll move where its -3 on block yet 3 frame moves cant hit it. because of push back.

Optimisim perhaps unfounded optimism.

nvmd on the optimism, the following match, Gief bitch slaped Wega.

I actually noticed that too when the first few vids of ae came out, it seems that the hitbox is bigger but i thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me.

well I would think that’s the least they can do for CH after the recovery nerf. I mean if they were to have nerfed the recovery without fixing the hitbox on the max distance one it’d be just plain lazy.

Glad to see that they did it right. To be honest I’m pretty happy with that trade off…

I’ll take that trade off. Now all that’s left to check for is the 18 frame forward dash, and ill be set.

Apologies if this has been posted before, but I just noticed it…

Starting around 32:32, cr.MK wiffs on Fei during the recovery of his 3rd Rekka… what the hell. Any ideas why?

Don’t worry because it’s definitely a bug
Hope new path will fix it soon

Hey everyone, here are my first two SSF4 videos ever.

As I state in the videos, I know I miss a lot of damage opportunities with CH->ST. Any other comments are always appreciated, though!

My friend got a bit better with his Viper and now I’m having problems. Once he gets me in her cr.mp, mp thunder knuckle, I can’t seem to get out of it. I’ve tried flipping, I’ve tried jumping, and I’ve tried reversal ST (which doesn’t work most of the time). I just seem to get stuck. The only reprieve I have is when he stops to grab and I tech.

You should focus on just blocking or backdashing. Flipping, jumping, and ST are not safe. Just block the attacks and tech throw attempts.

Argh, I never think of dashing!

@ pedo- I do the CH on wakeup mixup once in the last round of the first match. I obviously don’t show how I mix it up since I only hit with it once which leads into a stun. I then dash and crossup to prevent a wake up ultra.

So you use the game’s physics engine. You place your character on top of the characters during wake up animation and depending on your spacing you either end up in front or behind them because the engine pushes you.

So in other words; you knock them down. Depending on character and knock down, you do Cosmic Heel to cross them up. the erratic animation serves to confuses the opponent even more, and crosses up depending on the spaceing. Right?

Question, is it absolutely ambiguous like T.Hawk’s splash cross up where you have no control on if it crosses up, or do you have full control of whether or not you cross them up?

Well it’s tricky really. If you wait too long you by default stay on the same side so even if you walk forward more you still stay on the same side. So if you are close and it looks like for sure that you will crossup, you don’t lol. At the same time there is a certain timing and distancing that is just right to make your character jump over. It is character specific, and I don’t know when I am going to cross up or not yet, so I don’t know if its controllable. Everytime I do the mixup and I get a POM its cause I actually confuse myself cause I always hold downback but when you cross or when I think I cross I try to switch but when I get on the wrong side its obviously down forward. I require alot more testing.

However in the corner it is controllable which is why it’s so great and when you use the corner for a crossup you stay close which makes the mixup stronger.

Also using the mixup after ST is more controllable, but the timing is very different. If they don’t tech, then you have to do another followup. So after the ST you do the ambiguous crossup and cr mk and NOT cl HP. That way if they tech they have to deal with the cr mk and if they don’t, then the cr mk actually spaces you for another ambiguous CH crossup which you can then choose to use cl HP or cr mk lol.
