I posted this in the general discussion thread, but I figure it wouldn’t hurt to post it here as well.
I got some practice in at MGL and SVGL the past few days. Here are my Yang findings so far:
-It looks like EX Command Grab MIGHT have hit invulnerability. I was playing against Lamerboi’s Dee Jay the other night and I was able to EX command grab him as he tried to cr. short kick me out. Not sure about throw invulnerability yet. needs more testing.
-Not sure if it was counter hit, but I was able to link close standing medium punch, far standing medium TC for a full 4 hits.
-st lk x2 mantis slashes combo works
-You don’t have to do the EX Command Grab to do the mk launcher, sjc whiff divekick, U1 combo.
-mk launcher, hp palm juggle works and does insane damage. if you do it in the corner, you can finish the combo with EX upkicks for even more insane damage. not sure yet if regular upkicks, U1, U2, etc. work yet after hp palm.
So yeah, those are my findings so far in case anyone hasn’t posted them yet. I will be playing all week and I’m still trying to record this stuff I’m finding. Yang is looking more beastly by the day in my eyes.
Does Yang have any other bnb’s like low forward roll kick or stand fierce roll kicks or stand fierce jab palm? any been able to test other combo’s and bnb’s in AE
Have you tried holding forward when you hit fierce?
In 3s, Yang had some wonky ass f+fierce move, the same exact thing as far fierce, but even when point blank, f+fierce overrode the close fierce animation. Maybe check to see if that still works, and if that would solve that problem?
Yeah, EX Slashes cause some sort of juggle state, but not one that you can hit with anything like his launcher. I would bet that U2 would land after them though.

EX Mantis juggles for sure. It’s not that cl.HP doesn’t have JP, but it’s hitbox just doesn’t reach. You can juggle with LK Roll Kick on pretty much everyone. Going to try and test other followups today.
well if it had float properties than cl. MK would still work, and like some one else said, cl.MK->HP palm works so:
EX slashes->cl.MK->HP palm->EX upkicks would in theory work(maybe?)…which would be completely insane on damage I think assuming that the slashes work as one move, not as 5 seperate.
though I don’t think it gives float property
back on the cl.MK HP palm combo, I wonder if you can EX palm to make it more beefy and add more options (maybe j.hk reset? or reset with his air TC, whiffing the dive)
edit: does anyone know all of yang’s cancellable normals? can he cancel any of his fierces?
well if this f.HP actually exists than that should be a nice more damaging alternative to ending with another roll kick
on that same note, anyone know if we can capitalize on an early lk DP (hitting later in the animation) like ryu can do lp shoryu->metsu? or does he not launch high enough?
I only got a quick go with him but I think a decent bnb off of cr.lk is cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.mk xx rekkas. I can’t remember if it was a standing lp though, but the cr.lk, cr.lp link felt really tight like 1 or 2 frames for some reason.
Try juggling with U1, and U2. if cl.MK connects, U2 should connect fully, and U1 should connect as well if it reaches. Dhalsim should be the optimal dummy if you want to try U2, he’s a little floatier than other characters. IIRC, T.Hawk’s hitbox is very big when he’s getting juggled, so you could try U1 on him.
I haven’t landed U1 off of EX slashes on anyone, it feels too slow. I will still mess around with cl.MK after EX Slashes though, if s.HP can land, surely cl.MK is fast enough also. Heck if cl.MK can juggle off of this, then I would also agree with you about U1 landing.
Will see what I can try out in the limited time I have available at lunch.
Weird, U1 shouldn’t be that much slower than far s.HP. Btw, if you can’t land U2 after EX slashes, try first juggling with a slash or EX slash, then do U2.
U2 lands with at least partial animation against medium to small characters like Shotos and below after corner EX Mantis. I was stuck fighting the computer, so I couldn’t try against big people like Hawk. I never got full animation, but maybe it’s possible, dunno.
Still couldn’t get U1 after EX Mantis. Didn’t think to try a regular Mantis first - I do know that a regular mantis can juggle, though.
Close MK doesn’t have the horizontal reach to juggle after EX Mantis.
Ending with HP Mantis still gives more damage than with MK Roll, even though MK roll is only two hits. Heck, HP Mantis actually does about the same as Yun’s HK Upkicks.
F+HP at close range doesn’t work anymore, you just get close HP.
J.MP xx J.MK or DF.MK doesn’t work.
If you were confused about close MK, it is JUMP CANCELLABLE. Not Super Jump Cancellable. You don’t need to input a super jump, just press up and you’ll take to the air. This makes the Ultra juggles so much freaking easier to get the hang of.
Also did a very quick comparison between the twins, for my own curiousity: Yang’s s.lp x2, c.MK xx HP Mantis does almost the same as Yun’s c.MP -> s.MP xx HK Upkicks. Yun’s EX Upkicks actually do fuck diddly damage at all, funnily enough.
c.lk to c.lp feels even looser than Sagat, maybe even around Juri level. Easily a two-frame link at least.
I managed to link s.LP into cl.HP somehow randomly. You guys should experiment with that and see if it has some general use, you might be able to squeeze in some more damage, maybe even a new character specific BnB?
The issue with EX Mantis is that, yes, the opponent is juggles, but the opponent is put into the spinning animation, rather than just a float. Their hitbox is moved a fair bit horizontally even in the corner, so U2 will end up rolling first to track the opponent, rather than going straight for the upkicks that give you full animation.
