EX swipes counting as 5 hits kills corner juggle damage anyway tbh. Not to mention the 1-3 hits that precede the EX swipes. So we’re looking at 20% to 40% damage on the juggle hit. At that point it’s safe to say don’t blow ultra unless it will kill them.
Do regular swipes actually juggle in corner? Because you’d save meter and the damage difference would be minimal.
Pretty much. U2 was partial animation, and it got scaled HARD.
Nah, regular swipes don’t put someone into a juggle state. they do have juggle potential however. Honestly, the best follower I’ve found for EX Mantis is just good old fashioned LK rollkick.
Honestly, if you wanted to combo U2, you should just be doing 2x Mantis FADC instead. The combo still does pretty good damage overall; and you can do the same thing to chain into U1 as well.
Not too useful, but might as well mention that you can really easily link jabs into cr.mp or far st.mk.
As far as I could tell the mk in his lk mk hk target combo didn’t launch the opponent.
I also tried to link the launcher off of a jab, but it pushed me too far away. It might be possible on some characters, or in a different way, just an idea.
I MAY have linked a stand jab off of what MAY have been a meaty mp palm. There was a whole lot going on and I couldn’t tell. Definitely gotta test this out more.
If you don’t get full U2, then EX slashes probably doesn’t have float knockdown. If you can FADC the last hit, try cancelling it with an EX FA and hit with it, OR, if it’s too far away, FADC in close and try to hit them with s.LP or something. If any of these hit, it most likely has float knockdown, and there’s some mechanic about U2 that I’m not aware of. U1 can’t juggle unless it’s from float, so that most definitely won’t work if you try to do a mantis slash first.
I know Yang super is not very good, but anyone find good combos with it yet? I’ve seen one video but the damage was ass and didn’t seem to be a good use of meter. Anyone messing with it?
something i was curious about but havent tried yet, can you fadc any of his ground target combos? im thinking the mp,hp,back hp fadc into ultra wouldnt be so bad but if you cant fadc then nvm that combo
EX slashes don’t float, as I mentioned in the last paragraph. They use the spinning animation, which still has a juggle state, but the hitbox is much harder to reach.
Funnily enough, i can’t get regular mantis to juggle either.
Hey uh I also have access to AE for a little bit. Currently on vacation in Singapore and they have it here. Went today with the intent of playing Yun but somehow I ended up playing Yang instead lol.
Anyway, some really minor points to add
-uhm I can further confirm that second hit of hp slashes isn’t safe on block
-I was also able to hit with s.mk after the command grab on a lot of characters as well, i believe i did it to gen and yun off the top of my head.
-Not sure if this was mentioned or known about, only really skimmed this thread, but yea, this may need further testing as the guy (as unlikely as it is) may have just not been blocking but, I think i managed to combo ultra 1 after a dive kick. It definitely hit at the foot/shin level and may or may not have been meaty on wake up. Just straight up ultra 1 right after dive kick.
I think that’s all I can think of off the top of my head, didn’t really go with the intention of playing yang so I hadn’t read up on him before hand lol. I actually had my phone out with this page opened in front of me while I played heh.
Edit. After the dive kick -> ultra 1, I was surprised (I hit the ultra 1 cus it was a close game and i panicked hah). first thing i did though was check the combo counter and it said 19. Didn’t think to check the yang ultra demo vid from way back until after i posted. I do believe it combo’d.
Edit…Again. I also may be able to squeeze in another visit to the arcade before I leave if there’s anything else people want tested. Not sure how the setups are elsewhere but here there’s a ‘beginner mode’ option which lets you play the easy cpu for a few rounds before being forced to fight a player.
My local arcade in toronto is supposedly getting 8 machines (4 pairs) too but don’t believe they’ve arrived yet so can do more testing when they get them if you guys want. I think I’ve settled on yang for now at least =].
ok so you can fadc his st mp,st hp,and bach hp target combo maybe this works into both ultras now imma try and see if yo can fadc the lk mk hk target combo.
Some more combos that i tried myself and they work
Fwd mk->lk->ex rekkas->dp k
Basically a third strike combo but timing for the mk is specific. Has to hit in its last few active frames
Super(seien enbu)->wateva links->hp rekka->U2
Ok i think i need to explain this one. U can choose to activate super normally or in a combo (ie nemo) then do your normal links and when you are about a dwn mk distance away from opponent, do hp rekka x1 then U2. An example which i tested was i did rekkas x3 to make the opponent fall in the corner, activate super, fwd mk, hp rekka, hp rekka, hp rekka, U2. U can do it after the second hp rekka too so that the ultrA doesnt scale so much.
