Dunno, It’s not Genei-jin :p. But probably launcher or dive kick, anyway not sure.

for the jab cr.hk talk i preffer slashes or hk rolls too
Nice vid.
Pretty cool vid, loved the double drill kick into u2 combos. ( too bad about the dmg though)
Hay guys, my friend was playing around with Yang and stumbled upon an easier ultra setup. Sorry if this has been covered earlier but I figured I should put it out there in case it wasn’t.
The trick is you can actually connect s.mk launcher into Ultra 1 just by covering a little distance ( hold forward ) after the QCFx2 input.

It could be character specific, I’ve only tested on 3 chars: the twins and Makoto seem easiest to connect with but Oni had a more strict timing, I’ve yet to test the rest of the case but I don’t see why it shouldn’t work
Hi guys, I need help:
I’m having trouble consistently doing a BnB combo (cr.lp, st.lp, cr.mk xx slashes). The problem is, instead of the Mantis Slashes, the command dash comes out. The way I do the combo is pretty standard, I push crouch lp, then stand lp, then i plink or double plink crouching hk~mk~lk or just mk~lk so that one of them will come out - then i immediately cancel to QCF punches.
I’ve been watching my inputs and no matter how perfectly I do it, the command dash still comes out maybe 40% or the time. I noticed that in some of the KOK/Nemo videos this happened to them too. What’s going on here? Even if I don’t plink the cr.mk it happens. Has anyone had this happen to them before?
FYI I have no trouble doing any other combos (lp, lp, mk xx senkyutai, st.lp into target combo, st.hp into mp palms fadc to ultra etc. etc.)
Please help.
The reason you’re getting a command dash is most likely negative edge because you’re inputting the rekka too slowly and keeping your fingers on mk too long ,there really is no point in double plinking as that just adds to the chances of getting a teleport if you’re not plinking properly and lp, c.mk isn’t that hard a link.
Hmm, that’s a good diagnosis. So, since I’ve already tried to lift my finger off mk as fast as possible and it didn’t work, i will try tonight to simply keep my finger ON the mk while i input QCF punch to avoid the negative edge. Good idea?
Yeah try keeping your finger on mk and you definitely should not get dash unless you are missing the c.mk then dash might come out instead because of the game thinking that was the input.Just go into training mode put the dummy on auto block and do c.lp,.lp,cr.mk xx rekka do it extremely slowly so that everything come out even if it doesn’t combo just to get the timing of cr.mp into rekka.
For those having problems with FADC Mantis Slashes into U1, I have a method that may help you. If you are just mashing on qcf + hp to get the slashes like I was you are probably getting inconsistent results. I feel that’s because your fingers aren’t coordinate and you have no sense of what you are really pressing. Slow it down guys. Confirm that first Mantis slash then pause before doing the next one. As soon as you do that input for the next immediately hold FA and input the dash command. Yang will dash out of Mantis slash on the first frame. Then input the Ultra while you dash and there you have it. I went from50% consistency to 99% consistency with just this method of waiting a bit before doing the second mantis slash. Also making sure you FADC on the first possible frame is a MUST. This combo is a 3 frame link. So if you are missing it then more then likely its because you arent dashing out of Mantis Slash on the first frame. Def work on that.
IMO I’d go for the c.Mk U1 combo after or just lvl 2 focus after slashes and go for it, if you want consistency.
U2 is much easier to get a clean hit after mantis slashes FADC, really doesn’t do much less than U1. You can also combo it off yangs DP so IMO U2 is pretty much superior unless you plan on doing raw ultra as anti air / reversal often. U1 does look a lot cooler though.
So against fireballers, do you guys do his rolling kick on reaction to fireballs or is it anticipation? It feels a little too slow to me to do it on reaction from anywhere past like 2-3 character lengths.
This may sound dumb, but honestly…I wanna test my limits as a player when I use a character. Not with ridiculously stupid impractical stuff of course, but if a few extra hours of practice will net me more damage and that damage can mean the difference between winning and losing then yeah I’ll put in that extra bit of work. And yeah U1 is still a very nice AA option.
I do it on reaction. If I do it in anticipation, my opponent could easily juke me out and punish it.
Usually I’ll wait until I have U2 then bait out a fireball if they don’t know the matchup… if they do, they sure as hell won’t be chucking any plasma any time soon
I’ve only found EX rollkick to be reliable. If you’re farther away than a couple of character’s lengths, they’ve got time to block the kick.
Getting divekick combos going after level 2 FA is way harder than with Yun, lame. after level 3 it’s free bonus damage if you don’t want to use meter for whatever reason, though I would think you would have meter after landing a dizzy most of the time.
concept combo, that would look cool recorded, I can’t land the full thing though.
level 3 FA, dash, level 2 FA, dash, nj. hk divekick, cr.lk cr.lk xx HP mantis slash x2 xx FA Lvl2, dash, nj.hk divekick, cr.lk, cr.lk xx HP mantis slash x2 xx FA lvl 2, dash, cl.mk, lvl1 FA, hk roll kick, U2
Making this combo harder, change the combo after you land the divekicks into cr.lk, st.lp, cr.mk.
Is 5 FA’s the max for one combo?
You might be able to start with level 3 FA, level 2 FA, level 1 FA, cr.lk… and end up with 6, if that’s really your thing. But I have a feeling that’d get little less than ooo’s and aaahhh’s from the crowd. =p
I assume that hits the corner, right? For the cl.mk, lvl 1 FA, hk dp.
nah the third fa would juggle them, too slow.
yeah it pushes pretty far between the crumples and the mantis slashes, you need to hit the corner for the ender to work though. Not practical, but I think it has a lot of interesting concepts going on. it’s not maximized though in terms of number of hits, it should have additional jabs/shorts thrown in here and there.
I think divekicking off of crumples is viable though. It seems you can link a jab sometimes off of lvl 2, but I don’t know exactly how it works(probably character specific), but if you were to FA off of mantis slashes to do certain things instead of doing an FADC you can land some additional damage+get more meter+get more stun.
I know that I’ve seen people do cr.mk xx hp rekka, hp rekka FA crumple; maybe you could do that and end up sliding two more FAs in there.
lvl2 fa crumple doesn’t allow enough crumple stun to allow another focus. If it did Yang would have an infinite. basically the idea is to loop the crumples into a divekick combo twice, then finish with something kind of flashy.
I’ve tested the combo and I think it doesn’t work on the following:
Honda
Dudley
Dee Jay
Cody
Hakan
Guile
Fei Long
Adon
