I think a lot of people underrate psycho crusher it’s pretty awesome as long as you’re not stupid with it.
People underrate the Vanguard class in general. It’s very effective, it’s just also very difficult. Sentinel and Vanguard are the only classes I outright do not use. My favorite is Infiltrator, though.
I’ve been a Vanguard since the beginning and I don’t intend on turning back on it. Once I learned how to use a sniper rifle I was pretty beastly. I hope I can keep that in ME3.
I’m excited about the game in general but I didn’t go into ME1 expecting for it to be all about humanity’s nuts so I’m not too happy about EARTH EARTH EARTH! Like, really?
ME 2 just came out this year… This ain’t Madden, wtf?

it would be neat if we got actual melee weapons/attacks instead of the ol’ “hit them with your gun” even if its only a strong melee attack out of stealth (like what kasumi has) for the infiltrator class. ideally everyone would have melee attacks/weapons to give us a little more variety in the fighting, but ill take what i can get.
if we actually get melee weapons i hope theres an actual variety of them and not just like, a knife.
^This. I hated being close to guys only to remember that all I could do was pistol whip them. Not to mention three of the races are hand to hand combat experts so it only seems fitting that melee be expanded.
What I want most is an antagonist worthy enough to stand next to Saren. Harbinger was so damn BORING. And with that said we still need more TRUE boss characters. The art of bosses seems to be lost on this generation of gaming.
I hope they give Vanguard Defense buffs or some shit like that, god damn in the beginning it was damn near suicide in insanity. I miss having barrier for Vanguard. I also agree with wanting actual melee in the game…or maybe a melee/stealth specific class…no weapons just melee/stealth and a shit load of biotics. or Tech powers…or both…idk
I agree with the planet mining part. Get rid of that. So far both Mass Effect games have had a boring, monotonous “side-job”. Let’s kill that trend.

Oh, cry me a river, IGN. If multiplayer is so shitty(holy bandwagon, Batman) then don’t play it, nobody has a gun to your head.
Come to think of it, outside of “fuck the planet mining” and “the elevators were pretty cool,” that article is just generally full of dog shit. Only one way to play a class? Did they even play Mass Effect 2? Did Cooper Lawrence write this damn thing?
I just started playing ME1. I like the world/universe it’s created, with a bunch of alien species precariously on the brink of uneasy peace because of a Citadel alliance, and the xenophobia that comes from it.
Other things are a bit weirder–mostly the way the story progresses with odd gaps in it. Like how Shepherd has this personal vendetta against Saren, except there’s really nothing to establish why. Or how Shepherd magically knows that what the beacon showed him was visions of Reapers wiping out that former civilization.
The battle mechanics are a bit odd. It just feels weird that I have this hi-tech gun with super powerful rounds and special abilities to increase firing rate and accuracy–yet I’m unloading all my bullets point blank into a guy in front of me, and it takes literally 15 seconds or more to kill him.
Complaints aside, I still like the game, and especially the universe. Hopefully the rest of ME1 and ME2 focus on the story, because that seems to be the game’s strength, at least at this point.
Does anyone really care about ME3 multiplayer…
To be honest, this is the first time it’s come to mind.
All I want to do is punch some reporters out and roll in deep with space bugs.
Saren fucked over humanities last chance to be in the Spectres, plus you know he’s evil from square one. And he’s Taurian, and they had a war with Humanity. And Shepherd knows that its reapers wiping out civilization because THAT’S WHAT THE BEACON TOLD HIM.
I agree with the mining thing. In the first game, I fucking HATED driving that fucking stupid clown car around, to find stupid useless shit. In the second game, it was a little better, but STILL fucking boring as shit. I’d just have a smoke every time I needed to mine.
And I dont NEED multiplayer, but it would be nice to play coop or have some sort of multiplayer gameplay, with levelling.
The best way I’ve heard the planet mining from ME2 described was:
“ME 2 mining: All the fun of searching for breast cancer, minus the breasts.”
^_-;
That article is actually pretty dead on. I don’t agree with the combat stuff though. Gears of War and every other shooter is about getting from place to play, finding cover, and killing shit. The combat was fun, just because of the powers. It would be nice if the game had more of the rpg and exploration elements from me1 though. I did like the fact that they didn’t base the combat on dice rolls like in ME1.
It’s not a matter of not playing it if they don’t like it. People have to be allocated to program a multiplayer section of the game. Those people could be better used to tighten up the single player gameplay. As much as I love Bioware, there are always some things in their games that are infuriating, and those things always make me wonder if somebody actually played those sections of the game. Stuff like planet mining, or the mako sections of the first game. Or the stupid shit in Dragon Age where you get hyped to go on a quest and the game says “Hey, insert 10 dollars!”. Multiplayer just seems like a weird add on. They should stick to single player.
I’m personally with Ronin mostly on this one. I want my RPG elements back from ME1… I know EA was like “We don’t know crap about RPG’s Bioware, that’s why we bought you, but we really want to sell more copies so make it a glorified 3rd person shooter huh?” And Bioware CAVED HARD. No real inventory management, no real character statistical development, what can I say, I want my tired RPG elements back… I want more than 4 powers…
Now of course that comes across like I hated ME2 and nothing is further from the truth, it took me a while to get used to it, but I did enjoy it and was happy to see the story continue, but I also had problems with what was essentially a filler chapter of “Get the team together and OH YEAH! There’s this base and its a big deal, so take your team and go get it.” Now in between there’s alot of cool things that happen but point A and point B were just kind of eh… But of course ME 3 should take care of that because in theory it should have so many variables to input from ME1 and ME2 it should be nearly replayable a bunch of different ways.
Why the hell would Bioware waste precious development time on a multiplayer that is guaranteed to be non-inviting? That’s not what Bioware does. They make GREAT RPGs. That’s what they need to stick to, adding in multiplayer would be another sign saying Bioware has been infiltrated by EA to such an extent that EA is making Bioware’s development decisions for them and that’s a LOSING COMBINATION.
So please Bioware, I implore you, do not waste your time making a multiplayer that is guaranteed to be lambasted and hurt your game’s perception, stick to what you do best, finish off this amazing space opera trilogy in a way that makes this the “Star Wars” of gaming for a generation… the power is in your hands Bioware… don’t screw this up… or the Reapers will come take your souls back beyond the edge of the galaxy.
I’m actually pretty open-minded about Bioware adding a multiplayer portion to the game (I’ll wait and see how it is implemented first, rather than just complain).
I remember when Naughty Dog first announced that they would be adding a multiplayer mode to Uncharted 2, and everyone (myself included) being skeptical about it. People feared that the mode would be lackluster, or that it would detract from the single player campaign. However, when it came out, I was actually impressed with how the MP was done, and in no way did it seem to effect the single player portion of the game. I still play both the MP and SP modes of U2 to this day.
Of course, at least for the 360, you have to wonder just how many discs they’re going to use for ME 3, because I’m personally hoping that the third game’s single player portion is much longer than the second game (that one had two discs). My only fear is whether or not there will be enough space to provide a multiplayer mode, in addition to a much longer single player campaign.
Regardless, I’m just hoping that the combat remains similar to how it was done in Mass Effect 2. Even though I loved the first game, I absolutely hated the combat.
Real talk,
Mass Effect is just a video game version of Babylon 5.
There I said it.
I see where you’re coming from, and your point is valid, but I respectfully disagree. If its website is to be believed, BioWare hired people specifically to handle the multiplayer aspects of the game, similar to what Naughty Dog did with Uncharted 2(I think they got the Resistance guys on board, but don’t quote me on that). While a lot of problems existed with both Mass Effect games, not the least of which was the planet mining(I personally liked driving around in a space buggy but I’m in the minority there), I don’t think that avoiding a multiplayer mode would make those problems any better, or that adding one would make them worse…
Regarding Dragon Age, I only played far enough to get past Lothering myself and watched the roommate play for most of it, which is where my praise for the story and dialogue come from. I didn’t encounter the shit you just mentioned, but I probably just wasn’t far enough in.
While I’m thinking about it, the one thing that pisses me off the most about BioWare is their fondness for making hairpieces out of plastic. It’s especially apparent with Miranda. She looks like an action figure, shit’s creepy as hell.
Any problems with ME3, I’m blaming on EA.
