Mass Effect 2. Somebody's getting shot and thrown out a window

When upgrading an ability to level 4, which abilities are better to upgrade, so it can hit multiple enemies/give to the entire team, or to hit just one enemy/give to yourself?

1st priority is damage to a single enemy, if not available then do affect radius, squad ability is utterly useless as it overrides everyone else’s current ammo type with a shitty lvl 3 one.

Which type of evolution you pick up is largely dependent on the particular skill, the teammates you like to group with, the difficulty level you’re playing on, and so on. For instance, area powers are amazing on the lower difficulties since fewer enemies have defenses like barriers, shields, and armor. To give a more specific example, as a vanguard, area charge might be more beneficial on the lower difficulty levels because you can hit multiple targets easily since most enemies have red health bars. On insanity, you’re better off with heavy charge, because it restores more of your shields, and the slow down helps you find cover faster before dying.

In addition, let’s say you like having Samara in your party. If your character has area reave, and you evolve Samara’s power into the AoE version as well, you would be amazed at how devastating two area reaves are to enemy defenses, which is incredible on insanity.

As far as squad ammo powers, while most times you’re better off with the individual evolution versions, some squad versions do have uses. Again, I’ll use a vanguard as an example. With my vanguard, I have both Inferno Ammo and Squad Cryo Ammo. Now let’s say that I’m using Miranda and Samara in my squad (both are characters who don’t have ammo powers of their own). When I begin a mission, I’ll activate squad cryo ammo to apply it to my team, and then switch to inferno ammo for myself. You wouldn’t believe how much easier it is to charge like a madman as a vanguard when your teammates are in the back freezing targets for you.

Man… Insanity Praetorians are no joke. It’s way easier to solo those things than fight with your team =(

Anyway… Insanity Infiltrator is going well so far… just finished Horizon and run out of the initial 50k of platinum. I don’t feel like mining so I’m taking a break from the game for a little bit… I’m not so sure I like it compared to Vanguard. I’d rather be blasting faces with a shotgun. There’s a thread at the official BW forums of a CQC Infiltrator that’s looking pretty sweet. I’m trying the same thing with Warp Ammo instead of Cryo though and when it works out it’s pretty fun. I also checked out some Engineer videos and there’s some pretty sweet videos of those floating around as well… Cryo Blast-centric. I had no idea the cooldown was so ridiculously low on that. So many things I want to try now =(

I think my go-to team for Infiltrator is going to be Miranda and Grunt. I tried going with Grunt’s +dmg upgrade instead of his uber regen and it’s kind of noticeable that his hp doesn’t regen as fast. Wish I could undo those points. Maybe it’ll work out for the best when I can get Miranda’s passive and Squad Warp Ammo… Also… Grunt’s Concussive Shot rules. That is all.

I’ve never been great at shooters, and I really struggled in my first (normal… don’t laugh…) playthrough of ME 2 using my imported Adept, which I kept and that was fine, I struggled a little bit at times. I took him (at level 27) into insanity, and was wiped out. I tried sentinel, no good…

The moral of this story? Infiltrator is truly easy mode… Even I can play through insanity like this… and that’s sad, because I’m terrible at shooting things, but even I can hide behind my cloak, line up headshots like crazy and use warp ammo to get through all types of barriers… My sentinel playthrough was 6 hours in and I was getting raped left and right. I’ve played my Infiltrator for 3 hours and I’m already twice as far…

Yes this says I suck at this game… its true. But more importantly, it just demonstrates how top tier infiltrator is compared to everything else…

I don’t know if this was mentioned in this thread, I couldn’t find anything about it here. Does anyone know how to keep both Jack’s and Miranda’s loyalty? After I do both of their loyalty missions there’s a fight between them and you have to either support one of them and lose the other character’s loyalty or use a paragon / renegade dialogue to keep both. I didn’t have enough paragon at the time so I chose to side with Jack. You should be able to get Miranda’s loyalty later by speaking to her and using a paragon option, but even though I maxed my paragon rating later on I can’t get her back.

Is there any way to solve this?

The persuade check scale with your level apparently (we got like all proves but a ‘yes’ from BW). So Bee-line for their loyalty mission once they offer it, it could be solve with only 2 bars of P/R if you do it ASAP. The event trigger after you complete both loyalty missions, so if you do it pretty late the persuade check will become very hard, for example many NG+ level 30 character cannot solve this conflict even with 100% paragon.

You gain loyalty back after the event by talking to with a very tough persuade check, but it is possible that you won’t be able to regain the loyalty even with a very very high paragon score.

An important caveat there is that you can still complete the game without losing anybody with a disloyal Jack. I do not believe this is the case with a disloyal Miranda.

Yeah I had max paragon yet I couldn’t regain Miranda’s loyalty. So, it’s easier if I do both of their loyalty missions early?

Yes, a lot easier in fact. For your current game I doubt you can regain Miranda by any means.

Having Miranda’s loyal is very useful but it is still possible to safe everyone without her loyalty, you have to play the cards right at the end though.

I also started playing a Soldier on Insanity and I have to say that it is ridiculously easy. I’d say it’s easier to play than my Infiltrator. I don’t even have the Rev yet and assault rifles are tearing anything apart. 3 shots from a Vindicator kills a normal merc / collector / bot on Insanity. Warp Ammo is ridiculous.

Gonna try Adept on Insanity. Ball bustin’ a possibility, sure. But since it’s easy enough to blaze through with Infiltrators and Soldiers and Sentinels, I could use a little up. Even though Adepts are crippled, but can’t help to love them in a way.

EDIT: Disregard that, I suck dicks, blah blah blah, change of plan. Going Vanguard. More of my style anyways.

OK thanks, I’ll try that.

I actually managed to keep her alive in the suicide mission, used Legion for the vents, Garrus / Jacob for the second team, Samara for the shield, Mordin to get the crew back to the Normandy, Tali and Jack for the final boss, everyone except Miranda was loyal. But I still want to have everyone’s loyalty for completion’s sake.

So played this on 360 for the first time after beating the PC like 5 times, just like DAO insanity is substantially easier on console. Seems like enemies have less health/shields or your character does more damage. Also hacking circuits gives you more time and the cursor is huge, i can actually hack faster on 360 than on PC with a mouse. The menu wheels are epic fail though.

Okay. So this is first femshep from ME1. I’ve already done a playthrough of ME2 with her, and about to start her second “choice finality for ME3” run.

I was contemplating doing a few changes this run. I painstakingly recreated her and was just going to change hair type/color and eye color, but she’s the darkest skin tone, which means only the purple or dark red lips look right, and only black eyeliner looks right. So I lighten her, and it gives me more choice.

I am kinda going for continuity, so I dont know if I “lose” the feeling of my character by changing her? What you think?

Also, her race is an ambiguous mix of asian/white/black. How should I do it?

It is two characters but looks close enough besides the hair and eye color. Can’t you just use the codes, ME1 import doesn’t have face code?

i wish they had more variation in fem sheps looks. they all look like sisters no matter what.

A site that have a lot of Shep faces:

Hate to sound cliche’ here, but raise your hand if anyone here was all of nuking Kaidan to kingdom come in ME1?

Raise hand Everytime I see and hit the button, I go “wished it was Carth too, saves me the minutes of his constant bitching!”

I liked Kaidan. Thought he was an interesting character. His dialogue was always nice. Ashley was a gung-ho xenophobic retard. Reminds me of why I don’t like humans in this game. The moment she said “as much as you love your dog, you know it isn’t human” was the moment I knew her days were fucking numbered.
