only the 360 version requires a swap.
I finally beat it earlier this morning.
Holy shit, this game is fucking amazing.
I don’t like playing on PC either but it also happens to be the better version and the ONLY version I can get. I’d prefer to use controller too but they didn’t make that possible on the PC version.
I’ve heard both sides of the coin. Apparently the PC version of Borderlands is inferior to the console version.
if i had my way this game would be FOUR discs long!
anyway, i decided to bang tali. i found her little mannerisms cute, the shy way she talked, etc. i don’t like aggressive jack-style chicks very much
That’s one game though and yeah I know what that’s all about. I just thought it was my system but it didn’t run all that great (neither did MW2 which was a 360 port) However Mass Effect 2 runs really really good and it wasn’t even made for single-core. I guess it just depends on if it was a console port or a true PC original.
Back on topic, the planet scanning/resource system is ass! Way too much grinding. Almost as bad as JRPG grinding.
You just have to tweak it a small amount to make it playable. I have no qualms with the PC version of Borderlands at all.
Would you rather just scan planets, or drive around in the shittastic Mako when out of nowhere a Thrasher Maw pops up and you die in 2 shots because of the shittastic Mako controls?
Man…

Going through the Collector ship was tense as fuck.[/details]
I’ll tell ya, the action HUD is more action-oriented this time around. I’m thoroughly enjoying. I haven’t put this much hours in a game since Okami back on the PS2.
Mako, I died from a Thrasher Maw once and that was the first time. After that they were a piece of cake.
I liked the close-up view of the planets on the original mass effect. it was more visually appealing.
the new scan system is far superior.
i can’t imagine anyone dying to a thresher maw in the mako, unless maybe it pops up beneath you. i think i got hit by a shot from a thresher maw like once the entire time i played the game. they’re ridiculously easy to avoid
Also it does seem the more you go up in difficulty the less effective Jack is. If it wasn’t for warp ammo there would be no reason to even use her. Grunt is a must as well, harder difficulties really show that the teammate AI still needs alot of work.
frankly i felt like my teammates were pretty worthless when i played through on hardcore. towards the end they got a little better, but not as helpful as they were in mass effect 1, where your ally would cast ‘lift’ on a fucking geth colossus and hold that shit in the air.
there were a few notable exceptions, however. at the very beginning jacob saved me quite a few times with his biotics as someone was rushing me down and i’m trying to hide under cover. didnt happen ever again though.
also using Tali and her little AI drone thing was helpful, funny watching harbinger turn his attention away from you to focus on this little orb
the higher difficulty enemies have extra armor. jack’s shockwave and pull won’t work until the armor is gone. and their armor takes forever to take down on some enemies.
The problem is biotics are useless against anything with armor. Which is almost everything on higher difficulties. They should still work, just not as well in my opinion.
I haven’t had a big issue with biotics at all. Incendiary Ammo burns through Armor. Bring a character like Thane or Garrus who has sniper rifles which are highly effective vs Armor and then add in your Biotics character like Samara or Jack.
Playing as an adept requires some patience when playing on the Insanity difficulty level. Warp is what you will often use against armor. Adepts are weak against shields, and they do not have good long-range firepower, so if you put in someone who can handle shields and provide tech abilities (I use Garrus), and someone who can provide straight-up firepower (Zaeed, along with Garrus), playing on insanity isn’t as difficult.
Team composition is very important in this game, unlike the first game, where all you needed to do was lift or throw enemies and shoot brainlessly. Even Infiltrators, who are versatile enough to take down most enemies, still need companions to cover for their weakness (against barriers, and against waves of close-range enemies).
I honestly think that everyone should play Mass Effect 2 on Insanity (I’ve only played on insanity for ME 2), because you get the most out of the game play experience. I watched my brother play on normal the other day and it was hilarious how easy the enemies were defeated (since many enemies have no armor, shields, or barriers, and you can get hit quite a bit before being in danger).
QFT… hardcore/insane isn’t that bad but your god damn team mates will jump out of cover for no reason and get offed in seconds. It’s usually not that horrible since you can bring them back or just finish the enemies off yourself. But when you are getting the IFF that one section with the moving platform is impossible on higher difficulty because your team mates aren’t smart enough to handle enemies from multiple angles. As much as you try to bring them back they just come to life and almost instantly drop down again and if you try to position them in a good spot eventually they will move out from cover for no reason and get dropped again. I wish when you told a team mate to go somewhere they’d stay the fuck there until you told them to instead of moving after 2 seconds.
Hmm I guess I need to try Hardcore then. I was told by a friend that he had a lot of problems dealing with waves of enemies coming at every angle (part 1), it’d be interesting to find a way past that.
The trick to using your teammates is that you can’t just place them somewhere safe and forget about them. If you tell your teammates to hold a particular position, they will stay there even if an enemy flanks them and starts hitting them, so you have to constantly monitor if they’re safe. Sometimes you’ll want your teammates on follow, because they’ll actually move if they’re being flanked. You also want your teammates on follow when you’re being attacked by waves of close-range enemies (such as husks), so that they can move around. In extremely hard fights, you’ll often need to alternate between having your teammates hold a position, follow you, and then replace them somewhere else, in order to keep them from dying. In addition, if you make them use an ability while someone is shooting at them, they’ll pop out of cover, only to be hit by a rocket and die, so even if they’re behind cover with no enemies flanking them, they can still die simply because you activated their ability at the wrong time.
Glad I’m not the only one who felt that way.

I was pretty tense going through both the base and the derelict Reaper, as well. Suitably creepy environments.[/details]
Fucking awesome ending too, I really can’t wait for the endgame in ME3. I’m also hoping the cumulative choices made will change the outcome of the 3rd game - though I wouldn’t put it past bioware to force you to make the right ones through the entire series to get the best ending.
Also sweet that they gave Tali a romantic subplot, I thought the choices in the first game were pretty weak and she was an awesome character in both. To be fair, though, the choices in 2 outside of her are kind of weak too…
